One more question here.  I'm trying to use P3 on a new laptop.  My reader is a cheeseblock.  When I try to scan a tag the reader picks it up, but it doesn't show in P3.  I just tried the same reader/antenna/cables on a different computer and it works fine, so I don't think it's a component issue.  Anything else I might try?  Thanks!

It could be that the serial port on the new laptop is different than the other, especially if you're using a USB adapter. You can view which serial ports are mapped to what COM identifier using Device Manager.

If the COM port is correct as what you have selected in P3, try opening the Terminal utility in P3 device configuration to see if anything is coming through from the reader when the tag is read. Let me know how it goes.

I have been having a similar issue although I know that my com port is configured correctly. I have been getting a device error that says "unknown data detected on com5" followed by the PIT tag code. Do you know how to correct this?

    Thanks

Please ensure that you are running the latest version of P3, which is 1.5.4. If not, you likely need to upgrade.

If you are already running the latest version of P3, then please check the device settings in your P3 profile. If you are using a Destron-Fearing FS2001F-ISO, then you need to select the device type Destron 2001F w/Time Firmware

Let us know if neither of these solve your issue.
