EVENT LOG FOR SITE AB1 Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time and who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 11/14/2002 14:00 Dave I modified the admin_addr field in etc/sites to specifically reference ptoc_ken. Event-driven e-mail notifications regarding this site will now be sent to Don, Scott, and Darren, but not to Carter, Dave, John, Todd, or Sean Casey. 10/21/2002 10:47 Gayle 10/1/2002: The A3 antenna was brought back on line (a new CPU board was installed in order to allow synchronization with other transceivers). AB2 site was retuned. A new BIOS version was installed on the computer (to allow automatic boot when computer shuts down unexpectedly). 10/2/2002: AB1 site was retuned. AB2: installed IOmega CD-RW software on computer. Upon the final restart the system hung on the Iomega Register screen. We are missing the files from 10-02-02 1600 to 10-03-02 0900. I downloaded the buffer into the 10/3/2002 file. There were only a few tags recorded on B1. Changed file transfer time for both sites to every 4 hours rather than every 12 hours. 10/4/2002: 09:08 lost input sync from A2 at AB1. A2 was not functioning until 11:30 10/7/2002. The circuit breaker controlling A2 had tripped over the weekend. AB1 has remained functional since 10/7/2002. 08/27/2002 09:10 dlwarf@p A2:Overrun: Acknowledged. 08/03/2002 12:13 dlwarf@p A2:Overrun: Acknowledged. 07/30/2002 08:19 scottl@p A2:Overrun: Not a concern 07/01/2002 09:43 Gayle Antenna A3 dewatered. Transceiver turned off on June 7 2002 and antenna pulled out of the water on June 12 2002. Noise levels dropped dramatically at ~ 1200 on June 12 2002. This increased tag detection efficiency to 100%. Average noise ~ 35%. 06/17/2002 13:40 carters@ A1:ExcessiveNoise,A2:ExcessiveNoise,A3:ExcessiveNoise: ok 05/26/2002 09:13 darren@p A2:LowExcCurrent: It appears that site personnel was performing maintenance on all coils. 05/25/2002 14:00 Carter_S Unique is still set to "OFF" which means a single tag_id can be duplicated many times per second... Recommend that this be changed to "Delay" when convenient. 05/07/2002 14:14 Gayle Here is an update on data collected on Abernathy Creek: 11/14/01 (day 318): AB1 and AB2 were washed out However, A3 was still functioning and collecting data 11/16/01 (day 323): AB1 was replaced and functioning. 12/14/01 (day 348): The structural post holding antennas A1 and A2 in place cracked and effected the noise levels on A1 and A2. 12/21/01 (day 355): The water level dropped enough to replace the post. 12/27/01 (day 361): AB2 units were replaced and functioning. AB1 files missing in 2001: File AB101335.a contains data from midnight on day 335 to midnight on day 340 (6 days of data...therefore files AB101335.b-AB101340.b are non- existent). AB2 missing data in 2001: No data available for days 319-360 : units were not functioning. 2002: 1/25/02 (day 25): AB1 and AB2 were washed out Again, A3 was still functioning and collecting data 2/1/02 (day 32): AB1 replaced and functioning 2/26/02 (day 57): AB2 new posts in place (not functioning yet) 3/6/02 (day 65): AB2 antennas replaced and functioning. Missing data at AB2: Day 25, file b, days 26-35 file D: no data available, antennas not in stream Days 35-44: transceiver units were on but data files contain no data since antennas not in stream Day 60: AB2 unit installed in stream and recording data 05/01/2002 09:11 Scott_Li Carter alerted me to the massive duplicate file submission that was submitted from the interrogation site. Called Dee at the site and informed him to purge all data files from the AB1 and 2's data directory and ensure that the dir. is clean. Informed him to upgrade Minimon from 1.0.78 to 1.0.81 and call me if he needs assistance or when the upgrade has been completed. Also, I will direct him to Dave Marvin so that he can be educated on the proper methods for filling holes in the data set. 04/25/2002 20:38 ptagdev@ A1:ExcessiveNoise,A2:ExcessiveNoise,A3:ExcessiveNoise: Acknowledged 'Noise' alarms to clear red lights on the 'MinList' annunciator panel. (These will now show up on the new 'NoiseEventsOnly' panel) Doug Clough 04/01/2002 08:13 darren@p A1:ExcessiveNoise,A2:BadOscFreq,A2:ExcessiveNoise,A2:LowExcCurrent,A3:BadO scFreq,A3:ExcessiveNoise,A3:LowExcCurrent: It appears that these alarms were generated by site personnel while performing testng on the coils and adjusting the transceivers. I will call Gayle and confirm this action. 03/22/2002 08:07 darren@p A1:ExcessiveNoise,A2:BadExcFreq,A2:BadOscFreq,A2:ExcessiveNoise,A2:LowExcC urrent,A3:ExcessiveNoise,A3:LowExcCurrent: It appears that these alarms were being generated by site personnel doing some maintenance on the coils or transceivers. Gayle e-mailed us this morning to let us know that USFWS now has internet services again. We should now see both of her sites on a regular basis. 03/21/2002 14:18 Gayle The USFWS is back on the Internet. Interrogation logs from both AB1 and AB2 will now be available on a regular basis. Both sites are operating at optimal levels. Antennae at AB1 are operating at PIT tag detection efficiencies of 100%, 100% and 60%. Therefore, we are effectively interrogating 86% or better of any fish that passes the Abernathy Fish Technology Center (AFTC). Antennae at AB2 are operating at PIT tag detection efficiencies of 100% each. Therefore we are effectively interrogating every PIT tagged fish that passes AB2 (1.6 km downstream of AFTC). 02/20/2002 08:13 darren@p A1:BadOscFreq,A1:ExcessiveNoise,A1:LowExcCurrent,A2:BadOscFreq,A2:Excessiv eNoise,A3:ExcessiveNoise: Sight was recently recommissioned and is probably in the process of being re-orientated for optimum reading efficiencies. 02/05/2002 08:15 darren@p A1:BadExcFreq,A1:BadOscFreq,A1:ExcessiveNoise,A1:LowExcCurrent,A2:Excessiv eNoise,A2:LowExcCurrent,A3:ExcessiveNoise,A3:LowExcCurrent: The site has just been reinstalled. It appears that someone was performing some tuning procedures for most of these alarms. The water levels are rising and falling quite quickly. We will maintain contact with Gayle and Dee for site condidtions. 01/31/2002 15:06 darren@p A1:ExcessiveNoise,A2:ExcessiveNoise: There appears to have been a tag in the field for quite some time. This may have been some of the noise generation. 01/29/2002 16:52 carters@ A3:ExcessiveNoise,A3:LowExcCurrent: Testing. DougC 01/29/2002 15:44 carters A1:ExcessiveNoise: Acknowledged. 01/21/2002 07:17 darren@p A1:BadOscFreq,A1:ExcessiveNoise,A1:LowExcCurrent,A2:ExcessiveNoise,A3:Exce ssiveNoise: It appears that the alarms were generated while someone was performing maintenance on the coils and transceivers. I will verify this with site personnel. 01/09/2002 13:54 darren@p A1:ExcessiveNoise,A2:ExcessiveNoise,A2:LowExcCurrent,A3:ExcessiveNoise: I thought that I had already cleared these alarms once. I will be in touch with Gayle this week to find out what has been going on at both sites. ####End of Event Log for AB1###
