EVENT LOG FOR SITE AB2 Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time and who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 11/14/2002 14:00 Dave I modified the admin_addr field in etc/sites to specifically reference ptoc_ken. Event-driven e-mail notifications regarding this site will now be sent to Don, Scott, and Darren, but not to Carter, Dave, John, Todd, or Sean Casey. 10/21/2002 10:47 Gayle 10/1/2002: The A3 antenna was brought back on line (a new CPU board was installed in order to allow synchronization with other transceivers). AB2 site was retuned. A new BIOS version was installed on the computer (to allow automatic boot when computer shuts down unexpectedly). 10/2/2002: AB1 site was retuned. AB2: installed IOmega CD-RW software on computer. Upon the final restart the system hung on the Iomega Register screen. We are missing the files from 10-02-02 1600 to 10-03-02 0900. I downloaded the buffer into the 10/3/2002 file. There were only a few tags recorded on B1. Changed file transfer time for both sites to every 4 hours rather than every 12 hours. 10/4/2002: 09:08 lost input sync from A2 at AB1. A2 was not functioning until 11:30 10/7/2002. The circuit breaker controlling A2 had tripped over the weekend. AB1 has remained functional since 10/7/2002. 08/03/2002 12:12 dlwarf@p B1:Overrun: Acknowledged. 07/01/2002 11:19 Gayle Fish camping out on an antenna. Large files uploaded over the weekend. Unique, 1 minute delay re-activated on B1 and B2. 07/01/2002 09:41 Gayle Resident fish seems to have disappeared. "Unique" turned off on June 18 2002. Tag detection efficiency 100%. Noise averaging mid-teens. 06/25/2002 16:33 Dave I uploaded three files to PTAGIS3 today. The files (AB202121.ZZZ, AB202122.ZZZ, and AB202141.ZZZ) were modified from files originally provided by USFWS personnel. The formats of those files were modified to meet file structure criteria; the contents of those files were not modified. The data in these files appear to at least partially duplicate previous interrogation records from AB2. 06/11/2002 08:57 scottl@p B1:LowExcCurrent,B2:LowExcCurrent: This error will be address by O@M personel at the site. Will follow up on repair history. 05/25/2002 14:00 Carter_S USFWS changed the transceiver "Unique" mode from "Off" to "Delay" in response to PTAGIS request. The request resulted from the fact that fish were beginning to reside next to interrogation coils and generating more than a quarter million records in an 8MB file (AB202142.A) on 22-May. Then in AB202142.B, the file size expanded to 11MB. Then in AB202143.A, the file size expanded to 23MB. AB202143.B, saved at 00:00 on 24-May-02, after the Unique mode was set to Delay, contained 94KB. 05/07/2002 14:14 Gayle Here is an update on data collected on Abernathy Creek: 11/14/01 (day 318): AB1 and AB2 were washed out However, A3 was still functioning and collecting data 11/16/01 (day 323): AB1 was replaced and functioning. 12/14/01 (day 348): The structural post holding antennas A1 and A2 in place cracked and effected the noise levels on A1 and A2. 12/21/01 (day 355): The water level dropped enough to replace the post. 12/27/01 (day 361): AB2 units were replaced and functioning. AB1 files missing in 2001: File AB101335.a contains data from midnight on day 335 to midnight on day 340 (6 days of data...therefore files AB101335.b-AB101340.b are non- existent). AB2 missing data in 2001: No data available for days 319-360 : units were not functioning. 2002: 1/25/02 (day 25): AB1 and AB2 were washed out Again, A3 was still functioning and collecting data 2/1/02 (day 32): AB1 replaced and functioning 2/26/02 (day 57): AB2 new posts in place (not functioning yet) 3/6/02 (day 65): AB2 antennas replaced and functioning. Missing data at AB2: Day 25, file b, days 26-35 file D: no data available, antennas not in stream Days 35-44: transceiver units were on but data files contain no data since antennas not in stream Day 60: AB2 unit installed in stream and recording data 05/01/2002 09:11 Scott_Li Carter alerted me to the massive duplicate file submission that was submitted from the interrogation site. Called Dee at the site and informed him to purge all data files from the AB1 and 2's data directory and ensure that the dir. is clean. Informed him to upgrade Minimon from 1.0.78 to 1.0.81 and call me if he needs assistance or when the upgrade has been completed. Also, I will direct him to Dave Marvin so that he can be educated on the proper methods for filling holes in the data set. 03/21/2002 14:18 Gayle The USFWS is back on the Internet. Interrogation logs from both AB1 and AB2 will now be available on a regular basis. Both sites are operating at optimal levels. Antennae at AB1 are operating at PIT tag detection efficiencies of 100%, 100% and 60%. Therefore, we are effectively interrogating 86% or better of any fish that passes the Abernathy Fish Technology Center (AFTC). Antennae at AB2 are operating at PIT tag detection efficiencies of 100% each. Therefore we are effectively interrogating every PIT tagged fish that passes AB2 (1.6 km downstream of AFTC). 03/21/2002 09:21 darren@p B1:ExcessiveNoise,B2:ExcessiveNoise: These coils may need to re-nulled for the noise problems. Sean Casey visited the site last week and mentioned that he thought they were not nulled. 02/14/2002 08:16 Darren_C The reason for the 5 day file gap is that the computer had been shut down and removed for this time period. The computer (which is a prototype) will be replaced with the production one in the near future. 01/31/2002 08:01 darren@p B1:BadExcFreq,B1:BadOscFreq,B1:ExcessiveNoise,B1:LowExcCurrent,B2:BadExcFr eq,B2:BadOscFreq,B2:ExcessiveNoise,B2:LowExcCurrent: I will contact gayle to find out what is going on with the river. I think that flows might have increased rapidly thus causing the antennas to become untuned. 01/29/2002 14:59 carters B2:BadExcFreq,B2:BadOscFreq,B2:ExcessiveNoise,B2:LowExcCurrent: This is a test by Doug C. 01/21/2002 07:21 darren@p B2:ExcessiveNoise,B2:LowExcCurrent: I can't locate any failures for the low exciter current. It appears to be solved for now. I will talk with site personnel and find out if any work was being done at the remote site. 01/14/2002 08:04 darren@p B1:ExcessiveNoise: I cannot find any substantial reason for the alarm. I will monitor the site for future alarms. 01/07/2002 08:10 darren@p B1:ExcessiveNoise,B2:ExcessiveNoise: This site may need to be nulled. I will talk with Gayle to find out what worked has been perofrmed since the coils were replaced. ####End of Event Log for AB2###
