It seems that the new firewall that was installe I couldn't ping, telnet or ftp using the dial-up network configuration there, changed the DNS address and those things worked, but the mailer didn't. I was asked to leave the project because of heightened security due to the Afganistan and Sudan missell retaliations yesterday, so couldn't finish troubleshooting. When I got back, Todd had relaxed certain security policies on the firewall, and the mail from BVA made it, but rather than being encapsulated as SMTP packets, the connection made a bunch of telnet type packets to encapsulate the mail. This may have incorrectly encoded packets were rejected by the firewall. 07/27/98 08:49 scottl Upgraded the mailer software from ver. 1.3 to 1.3b. 07/14/98 10:22 carters Visited site on Friday, July 10 to manually upload interrogation data. Upload processes performed by mailer.exe version 1.2 failed on July 7. 07/07/98 11:37 scottl Called the modem at this facility to verify modem operation and the modem did not respond. Called SMP at DSM1 and they will try and get someone over there to check the status of the computer and relay the info to PSMFC kennewick. 07/01/98 11:05 carters Haven't see data from BVX since Monday 6/28. Carol will call and have machine rebooted. Will visit site if no data shows up by tomorrow. 06/02/98 11:03 sandyd 1June98. Replaced timer-tag on coil 6. No change in tag codes. (Nunnallee) 05/13/98 15:18 sandyd 7MAY98 Replaced tuning boxes on coils 04 and 12.(BFJ) 05/07/98 19:22 carters The B2A site code has been configured in the PTAGIS database. The North Flume 400kHz monitors are labeled NORTH and the South Flume 400kHz monitors are labled SOUTH. The ISO coils (not yet installed) have been configured for the site (as separate monitors) and are labled ISO NORTH and ISO SOUTH. The long distance phone carrier problem has been fixed (data had not been transmitted because there was a mix up changing long distance carriers), so data should be automatically sent in now. Earl Prentice provided the following on 24-Apr-98: On 23 April at 1700, the 400-kHz PIT-tag interrogation system being installed at Bonneville Dam's adult collection and monitoring facility became operational. In accordance with the operating guidelines, put forth by the fisheries community, the collection and monitoring facility will not be operated on a continues bases without the presence of personnel because of fear of facility flooding. Data from the new PIT-tag interrogation system will thus only be collected while the facility is occupied. Since the new system is in a continues operations mode, no additional action is required by facility users. Data generated by the new system can be obtained through Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission. In late June two ISO-based interrogation systems will be installed at the site. In addition present plans call for all systems to be evaluated with tagged fish in July. 03/30/98 11:57 carters NMFS has installed RF shields, conduit and cables for 400kHz system. PSMFC has installed win-95 based computer platform. Installation of coils, exciters, controllers is not yet scheduled.
