The system was stick tested and will remain in place for a short period of time. 07/28/2008 08:24 troy@bay 04:TestTagFailure: This alarm will be looked into on the next site visit. 07/25/2008 14:20 Dean_Bal For the Record: Due to excessive debris load and subsequent unmanageable debris accumulation on the Vertical Barrier Screens at PH2, STSs were pulled from all PH2 units from 23 May until full redeployment on 19 June. B2J Fish Guidance Efficiency was significantly reduced during that time period. 07/23/2008 12:50 Darren A site GMC was performed today (7-23-08). All transceivers were checked for tuning, noise and detection ability. The antennas on the full flow were adjusted to try and maximize the efficiencies and minimize the noise. Several adjsutments were made to try and alleviate some slight noise that the entire system is experiencing. The PC clocks were within 10 seconds of atomic time and even with each other. 10 test sticks were passed through the separator monitor with 100% detection and diversion. No problems were discovered during this visit. 07/21/2008 14:24 Dave The PC clocks, which were about 30 seconds slow, were reset to within one second of each other and atomic time. The Multimon window, which had been moved on PC2, was relocated to its standard position. PTTP-Uploader was running on PC2, with system activity dating back to July 11. After uploading and/or archiving the PC2 files, PTTP-Uploader was closed. MultiMon was running in a partial Window on PC1 when I logged in; it was running in a full-screen DOS box on exit. 07/17/2008 08:22 darren@b 04:TestTagFailure: This alarm will be addressed during the next site visit. 07/14/2008 08:06 darren@b 04:TestTagFailure: Alarm will be investigated during the next site visit. 07/11/2008 12:23 Alan A bad network switch in the JFF caused the recent connectivity issues. The switch was replaced and communications were restored. Coincidentally on PC1, Multimon was functioning but windows would not respond (couldn't get to the desktop). Both PCs were rebooted to insure functionality. Both PCs were set to within one second of atomic time. File B2J08193.207 was uploaded from PC2 to fill the gap during PC1's downtime. No other problems found. 07/11/2008 08:25 Alan Network connectivity has been lost to the JFF. Site personnel report that the platform is up and collecting data. No problems found. 06/23/2008 11:01 Dean_Bal Separation by Code was enabled at approx. 1100 PDT on 18 June upon completion of repairs to components of the compressed air system supplying the 3-way rotating gate. SbyC outage duration: 0100 on 13 June through 1100 on 18 June 06/23/2008 08:36 Darren PSMFC was onsite Friday (6-20-08) to adjust the slot antennas and full flow system due to the lowered efficiencies noticed on Thursday (6-19- 08). PSMFC also investigated the unusual noise that has been noticed on the slot antennas at BO4. PSMFC contacted Mary Moser (NOAA Fisheries) to test the HDX system to ensure that it was not the cause of the noise. The system was turned OFF and ON and there was no change in the noise spikes rolling through the 4 transceivers. A noise block filter was placed in line with the transcievers to check for possible feedback on the AC system but still no change. PSMFC also looked at the noise spectrum with a spectrum analyzer but did not detect any outside frequencies between 10kHz and 500kHz. This problem will continue to be investigated until a solution can be found. The efficiencies are still in the high 90% range for system as a whole. 06/21/2008 10:41 alan@bay 04:ReaderReset: This alarm was generated by PTAGIS Field Operations personnel during a site visit. 06/20/2008 08:12 alan@bay 02:LowExcCurrent,04:TestTagFailure: These alarms will be investigated during the next site visit. 06/18/2008 12:59 Troy The FF transceivers were checked for tune. A fair amount of time was spent trying to tune out the noise on 03 and 04. Not much progress was made. The ground block in the power distribution panel was checked and the ground tightened. There is some speculation that the surrounding ground is drying out giving us less of an electrical ground. 06/18/2008 08:24 alan@bay 04:TestTagFailure: This will be investigated during the next site visit. 06/17/2008 17:06 Dave pcA'd in, retrieved B2J08169.104 from the archive and pushed it, along with B2J08169.108, to PTAGIS. The 169.104 file will be processed six hours out of sequence, which may affect some PLC and DGE status message logs. The two PC clocks are within one second of each other, and 15 seconds ahead of atomic time. 06/17/2008 14:22 scottl The switch over to the new ISP is complete. All internal DNS entries are now pointing to the new server. Did a diagnositc test upload on all computers without errors. B2J FF system is experiencing some noise in all transcievers that cannot be tuned out, especially 04. This phenom in the past has been associated with grounding but never been proven. BO4 also has intermittent and sometime persistent elevated noise levels that also cannot be tuned out. Will talk it over and get a game plan to correct the situations or atl east minimize the effects. 06/16/2008 10:58 Darren Daily reports indicated that the efficiencies on antennas 03 and 04 have dropped slightly. With the exception of antenna 04 no problems were discovered during this visit. 05/27/2008 10:59 Dave Per Dean Ballinger: Elevated descaling rates, especially in yearling Chinook, were observed in the weekend samples on May 17 and 18. In response, reduced turbine loading was initiated over the weekend and VBS cleaning at PH2 began on 19 May. By 21 May, descaling rates had not improved and a TMT meeting was held to address the issue. Due in large part to extreme difficultly in insuring that VBSs for all units, including fish units, could be adequately cleaned and maintained, a decision was rendered to remove STSs from all units in PH2 until debris loads decreased. The last of the STSs were removed as of the afternoon of 23 May. 05/27/2008 10:38 Dave Updated database to B2J08148.DB, with additional tag codes for Doug Marsh's wild Chinook (AC-82). Missed one target diversion for AC-149, which passed the separator gate as I took PC1 off-line and before PC2 assumed gate control. The PC clocks are within two seconds of each other and 16 seconds of atomic time. 05/23/2008 14:52 Dave I updated the MAP file to B2J08144.MAP, disabling the collection of the Latent Mortality Study tags (AC91-93) until further notice. 05/21/2008 17:03 Dave Very high flows have entrained lots of leafy debris and detritus, which has been matting on and plugging the vertical barrier screens (VBSs) in the BON PH2 gatewells. Coincidentally, the Corps is currently unable to clean the VBSs as effectively as usual. This has resulted in unreasonably high descaling. The Corps petitioned the regional fisheries managers to pull the VBSs and submerged traveling screens (STSs) at BON PH2 and allow fish to pass through the turbines. The fisheries managers agreed. While the screens are out, the collection efficiency at BON PH2 will be greatly reduced. Fish may volitional enter the turbine gatewells, pass through the orifices into the collection channel, and be bypassed around the facility through the full flow pipe. Dean Ballinger will continue to operate the Juvenile Fish Monitoring Facility (JMF) to attempt to quantify this volitional bypass. Any PIT tags present will be detected as they pass through the B2J full-flow antenna group above the primary switch gate, and at the JMF as long as it's operating. PIT tag SxC diversion activities are currently scheduled to continue without interruption. 05/21/2008 16:06 DGE_Robo DivertDuringSample (A_DDSample) changed from 'OFF' to 'ON' at 2008/05/21 13:56:56 05/21/2008 09:18 Dave I updated the database to B2J08141.DB, with tag codes for AC-148 and AC-149.
