EVENT LOG FOR SITE BSC The first line of each entry contains a date/time stamp & who is reporting. The most recent entry is listed first. Date Time Who ---------- ----- -------- 12/13/2011 09:38 Cameron 12/13/2011 09:35 Cameron The transceiver at Big Sheep Creek (BSC) in the Imnaha River sub-basin operated sporadically from March 9 through March 31, 2011 resulting in 201 hours of lost diagnostic report send (DRS) and Tag observation data. The transceiver was replaced and sent in for repairs. Two shed PIT tag were recovered from inside the fiberglass antenna housing for antenna 1 and antenna 3 on August 11, 2011. The PIT tag within the housing of antenna 3 was first detected on April 30, 2011 and was detected continuously through August, resulting in over 138,000 detections. The PIT tag within the housing of antenna 1 was first detected on January 21 and had nearly 176,000 detections through August 2011. Because the tags were very close to the antennas, detections of other tags on antennas 1 and 3 were limited. High spring and summer flows prevented earlier removal of the tags as the top decking had to be removed to reach the shed tags. 12/12/2011 13:51 Cameron The transceiver at Big Sheep Creek (BSC) in the Imnaha River sub-basin operated sporadically from March 9 through March 31, 2011 resulting in 201 hours of lost DRS and TAG data. The in-stream detection system consists of a tandem array located in Big Sheep Creek (Imnaha Basin). The array (BSC) is located at river km 6 (N 45.50649, W -116.85067) and consists of two arrays , deployed serially 10 m apart, of two 20 ft Biomark flat panel antennas each. Each array spans the entire stream width.BSC is operated by the Integrated Status and Effectiveness Project (ISEMP) cooperators Nez Perce Tribe and Quantitative Consultants, Inc. and was installed for continuous monitoring in October 2010. The array includes ISEMP standard site monitoring equipment including air and water temperature probes, and a water pressure transducer to monitor stream level.Electrical power is provided by a thermal electric generator and remote communication provided by a satellite modem. The satellite modem communication system allows two-way data transfer. Data (system diagnostic information, PIT tag observations, and site environmental conditions) are uploaded automatically every two hours from the site to the ISEMP PIT ARRAY server in Boise, ID. Daily interrogation files are sent automatically to PTAGIS following PTAGIS file standards. A juvenile hatchery steelhead has taken up residency starting in December near antenna 1 and 2. During the last month it has been located near antenna 1, with detections of this fish occurring every minute as the transceiver is set to one minute unique. As such the noise level and antenna 1 90+ percent and likely limits detections of other tags on antenna 1. A failed attempt was made to chase the fish off the antenna. Hopefully high spring flows will motivate the fish to move locations. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Orme Nez Perce Tribe Dept.
