EVENT LOG FOR SITE BWL Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time and who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ---------------------------------------------------- 12/03/2002 14:30 Dave The B2A and BWL sites have been decommissioned.  The Bonneville Washington Shore ladder is currently dewatered for annual maintenance. The PIT tag detection equipment in the ladder and within the Adult Fish Facility has been deactivated.  The coil sets from these two sites will be combined into the common 'BO3' site, which will become active when the Washington Shore ladder waters up on December 23. 12/03/2002 13:18 Scott_Li Per Don Warf, all BWL transceivers were shut off at 10:04 am pst. The last interrogation file was closed at ~10:15 am pst and sent to PTAGIS. The interrogation computers were then turned off and will be brought back to Kennewick for reconfiguration. B2A transceivers were turned off at ~10:17 am pst. the last interrogation file was closed at 10:20 am pst and was sent to PTAGIS. Computers were turned off and are also being brought back to the kennewick office. The BWL ladder was dewatered at ~0900 pst. 11/27/2002 08:57 darren@p 2A:ExcessiveNoise,2B:ExcessiveNoise,3A:ExcessiveNoise,3B:ExcessiveNoise,5A :ExcessiveNoise,5B:ExcessiveNoise,6B:ExcessiveNoise,7A:ExcessiveNoise,7B:E xcessiveNoise,8A:ExcessiveNoise,8B:ExcessiveNoise,9A:ExcessiveNoise,AA:Exc essiveNoise,AB:ExcessiveNoise,BA:ExcessiveNoise,CB:ExcessiveNoise,DA:Exces siveNoise: Alarms will be cleared to see if the performance of the transceivers has improved since site was visited on 11-22-02. 11/25/2002 11:50 Darren_C On Friday 11-22-02, Scott and I traveled to Bonneville to check and retune all transceivers. We also megged out all coils and tried to get rough estimates on cable lengths. We did address a few issues that were in need of attention: Coil 03 at BO2 was not firing it's timer tag, The connector to the VTT was loose and not making good connection, this has happened in the past and is due to the wires and the pins that are used for the timer tag. At BO1 we looked at coils 0A,17 that were alerting us to overrun conditions on a quite frequent basis, coil 0A was out of tune and once it was retuned and the power supply adjusted the overrun condition went away, coil 17 was also retuned. 11/25/2002 09:23 darren@p AA:TestTagFailure,CB:BadExcFreq,CB:BadOscFreq,CB:LowExcCurrent,DB:LowExcCu rrent,DB:Overrun: Alarms were generated by PTOC personnel while performing tuning and maintenance on transceivers. 11/22/2002 07:43 darren@p BB:Overrun: Alarm will be addressed by PTOC personnel Today. The overrun condition is being investigated in the Kennewick Lab. We hope to have an answer to this condition. 11/20/2002 09:10 darren@p BB:Overrun: The overrun condition will be addressed on Friday when the site is visited. The Exciter report does not indicate any outstanding problems. The unit will be retuned for performance and monitored. 11/19/2002 14:28 darren@p 7B:LowExcCurrent: The unit parameters show that the low exciter alarm threshold and the current are equal thus causing the alarm. I will reset the parameters and will monitor for current loss. The exciter report does not show any degradation of current, but that only reflects back to 11-12- 02. Unit will be looked at on next site visit. 11/19/2002 14:16 darren@p BB:Overrun: This alarm is being investigated by PTOC personnel. Several weeks ago I asked our researchers to investigate the potential that electrical leakage from the antennas might injure or inhibit fish passage. An analysis from Ed Nunnallee and Bruce Jonasson of our Manchester lab assured me that there was very little chance of injury to adult salmon from the leaky antennas. Based on this, I see no reason why the detection system couldn't be turned on right away. We really don't know if fish can detect these leaks, or if they do, how they will respond. Radio tracking, video monitoring and fish counts should be used to keep an eye on this during the season. Based on video observations of fish passing through orifices with leaky antennas last year, I don't expect any problems. You will have to consider this as formal a response as I can give at this time.
