The dish was initially producing a signal of 3.9-4.0db prior to the line of site removal, after removal it was increased to 4.5-5.0db. Today it was re-aligned and the signal again increased to 5.9-6.0db, still not very good, so Starband was contacted and several tests were ran with no increase. The tech support suggested replacing the reflector (dish) which was done and the signal strength increased to 8.5-9.0db. This is the highest signal strength that this site has seen. The dish heaters were not re-installed because this may have been the cause of the dish warping. We will watch this winter and if necessary we will investigate another method of snow protection. Communications were tested along with remote access. 10/29/2012 07:03 Darren Manually pushed over the outstanding files. 10/09/2012 12:31 Darren PSMFC was on site today to try and address communication issues with the satellite. All components of the system were checked and the satellite dish was re-aligned. The signal strength is still very low. PSMFC met with Charlie Strom about possible tree removal that is in the line of sight (LOS) of the dish and may be causing the low signal strengths. He is going to check out the details and get back to us on this matter. I removed the dish heaters to see if this was a cause of any problems and although the signal strength did increase slightly it is not the main cause of the problem. 10/01/2012 06:35 Alan MiniMon was briefly exited to delete a zip file at ~0615 PST 10-01-2012. The clock on PC1 had drifted almost 00:09:00 slow. The clocks on both PCs were set to within one second of atomic time. Any file gaps are inconsequential as the site is dewatered. No further problems to report. 09/22/2012 07:03 Roger Manually submitted files to PTAGIS. 08/19/2012 07:08 Troy This site came back to life and submitted all but one file and then went down again. Both monitor boxes were dried out and sealed using the "Flex Seal" from the aluminum to the PVC. Transceivers were tuned and test sticks were passed through each monitor with 100% detection. The 2011 files were archived on PC1. The UPS for PC1 was replaced and a patch file ESJ12053.L2 was generated while the PC was being plugged into the UPS. No problems were discovered during this visit. 02/11/2012 11:43 Alan For unknown reasons (probably related to the failed UPS) PC1 experienced a few gaps in data. PC2 remained operational, files ESJ12040.S2 and ESJ12040.T9 were tailored to fit and uploaded to fill the gap. No further problems to report. 02/08/2012 09:12 Alan The primary UPS failed, disabling PC1 and the sat modem. Site personnel connected PC1 and the sat modem to facility power, restoring operation.
