LITTLE GOOSE JUVENILE FISH FACILITY EVENTS Date Event 11/04/93 Shut down site for the season. Removed computers for maint. (Warf) 10/04/93 Visited for maint. Found the backup computer locked up in Monitor. Rebooted to restart Monitor. Everything else looks good. (Warf) 09/28/93 0800 Noted that GOJ did not get uploaded; RC=2 in dialasite results. Ran dialasite by hand; operated correctly. Probably dirty phone line. (R Buchanan) 08/27/93 0745 Noted that GOJ did not get uploaded; RC=2 in dialasite results. Dialed by hand; computer did not answer. Attempting to contact site personnel to check on status of facility and computers and to switch to backup computer. (R Buchanan) 1520 Site personnel (Rebecca Kalamasz, asst. site biologist) contacted; she reports all PIT Tag equipment turned off. She stated that they switched power systems twice this week. The first time (Monday?), the PIT Tag system was turned back on. The second time (last night), it was not. She is restarting the system; I will check for additional files to load. (R Buchanan) 1630 Logged onto GOJ system to confirm it is operating. It is; however, the it was shut down at 07:25 PST yesterday and not restarted until 15:09 PST today; all data between those times is lost. (R Buchanan) 07/28/93 Visited for maint. check. Replaced bad printer. Found the back-up computer running with 2 monitor programs and big dos. Corrected problem. Everything else checks ok. (Warf) 07/19/93 FPC reports that effective 07:00 4-Jul-1993 all PIT tagged fish diversion ceased. The implications of this are that generally no pit tagged fish are re-introduced to the river. The exception to this will be re-captured fish. Contact Dave Marvin for more information regarding this event. 07/14/93 Visited for maint, check. (R Buchanan, Don) 05/12/93 Installed replacement PC and multiport; ran test tags (all coils checked performing at least 80%). (R Buchanan) 05/10/93 Fixed disc failure on PC turned off due to multiport failure. (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/10/93 Times on controllers not synchronizing (reported system-wide). (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/10/93 Oscillation on current meters on coils controlling B slide gate. This is normal in that position; does not appear to affect ability to detect tags. (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/10/93 Phone line extremely dirty; not able to upload data. Called phone company (USWest) to look at it. (R Buchanan) 05/10/93 Called over commercial line instead of FTS; able to upload. Changed dialasite.table in /x/opt2/mlink to use commercial. (R Buchanan) 05/09/93 Unjammed two printers. (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/05/93 Reinstalled printer for subsample. (R Buchanan) 05/04/93 Conversation with Steve Achord (NMFS); he is concerned about our failure to anticipate problems; gate control coils have required frequent retuning. Robert explained current situation to Steve. After consulting with Carter, agreed to have Don 05/04/93 Problem with one multiport (burned out due to power failures). Multiport and computer turned off. Multiports connected to Tripp-Lite instead of line power. (R Buchanan) Come here daily for next two weeks. (R Buchanan) 05/02/93 Problem observed with coils __ and __; diagnosed by NMFS personnel to be a bad cable between the exciter and controller. These coils control the _ slide gate; NMFS personnel moved the cables and jumpers to have the other pair control the slide gate. (R Buchanan) 04/27/93 NMFS personnel replaced exciter in subsample. Don repaired fan. (R Buchanan, per Don) 04/26/93 Exciter for subsample coils 50 and 52 reported bad; problem is overheating. Detailed Don to replace the exciter and repair the fan in the box. (R Buchanna) 04/15/93 Operations began (R Buchanan) 03/18/93 Checked new slide gate controls (no water in flume, no air to move gate); operates normally (R Buchanan)
