All transceivers were checked and tuned. All gates were found in good working order. Upon arrival, PC2 was found powered down and the UPS for PC2 was emitting a constant warning tone. The UPS for PC2 has expired, with the most recent Multimon time stamp time being 13:15:01 on 10/21/2007. PC2 has been plugged straight into the wall. The failed UPS will be replaced during the next site visit. The clocks on both PCs were set to within one second of atomic time. No activity was observed on PC2 during PC1's downtime. The lithium battery was changed in transceiver 12. The A and B gates were tested with the test button(s) (no sticks were thrown) and the soft close regulator (squealer) was adjusted as it was preventing the gate from fully closing prior to timing out. The gates are working very well, sensors inspected and all looks well. PC1 is 54 seconds behind atomic time and PC2 is 60 seconds behind atomic time. The files that were outstanding loaded on there own at the 15:00PST load time. 09/02/2007 11:15 Darren_C With the help of site personnel I was able to verify the data collection platforms are collecting data on the correct files. 09/02/2007 09:14 Darren_C It appears that there is some problems with the Walla Walla District communications and has been since yesterday afternoon. I have been trying to reach Pete Peterson or Dave Dave Demaris to verify the problem. I will continue to try and get into the sites and verify when communications are restored. 08/30/2007 14:13 Darren A site GMC was performed today. All the transceivers were checked for tuning and noise. No test sticks were passed through the "A" and "B" separator monitors because there was no on site help to retrieve the sticks prior to the 3-way gate, which is down for the season. I manually worked both of the gates and there was no indication of a problem, the DGE report would concur, no problems were found. 08/20/2007 09:08 Dave There was a half-hour power outage at the Little Goose juvenile fish bypass facility (GOJ) on Friday, August 18, from 15:13 until 15:42 PM. While the UPS provided backup power to the computer until 7:00 AM, the power outage occurred at 6:15AM. Since the transceivers are not on the backup power system, there was no detection capability during that initial 45 minutes or, obviously, for the subsequent 52 minutes. Due to no on-site support from the facility personel and that the SByC tanks were not prepared to accept any fish that may have been divered during the test process,no pysical excersize was done on the gate. What was done, the air dryer bowl was removed and inpected, no water in bowl. The oiler needs mineral oil added to it, very little left in the bottom. The SByC controls were not activated and air was not turned on the system. Will inquire further tomorrow and find out more about this study. The PC clocks were within 21 seconds of each other, and within each other and lagging atomic time by 17 secs. 'ON' to 'OFF' at 2007/07/12 13:40:14 07/12/2007 14:57 Troy Responding to a call that the sample gates and pittag gates were not working it was found that the UPS(s) were dead and the site was running on a back up generator. There was power in the pittag room but the UPSs were not on. The reset or alarm acknowledgement button needed to be pushed for the UPSs to work. It was later found that the power in the pittag room was running at ~104VAC. The electrician suspected that a fuse has blown on one phase of the transformer. (no feed back from the electricain on what he found) The generator could not keep up with demand, as a result the UPS kept switching to backup power before they had a chance to fully charge and the PC's kept going down. I have tried to balance power the best I could but with that low of supply voltage the PC's continued to crash along with the PLC. I disconnected everything from the UPSs and let the charge while I waited for the power to be switched back to line power. There may be some data buffered in the transceivers that did not make it to the platform as a result of this issue. All the transceivers were able to stay running but the platform could not. The sample gates had the air turned off and were held in 100% sample mode since early this morning (~ 6:45 - 7:00 PDST) until power was restored shortly after 2:30 pm psdt. I verified that the PLC came up correctly and tested all the gates (except the 3 way which is down for the season). The following is a list of known time outages. 7/11/2007 ~0805 power out 7/11/2007 ~0855 back up power on. 7/11/2007 ~1345 power down 5 to 10 mins to swap a phase due to a motor running backwards. 7/12/2007 ~0100 sep op noticed gates not working. In fact, the outage occurred at 6:56 AM. I pcA'd into GOJ-PC1 and reset the PTTP-Uploader schedule to match the PTAGIS IDL process schedule. I reset the PC clocks to within one second of each other and atomic time. I procedurally "closed" GOJ07176.103, which was truncated by the power outage. Although GOJ-PC1, running on UPS power, did not fail until after 7:32 AM, the actual AC power outage occurred immediately after 7AM and lasted until 10:34 AM. No PIT tag detection occurred during this 3.5-hour interval. 06/25/2007 14:51 Dave Due to mechanical problems, a barge transporting approximately 90k fish from Little Goose Dam prematurely released the fish on May 23 in the John Day Reservoir near Arlington, Oregon. A survey of the PTAGIS database found 142 PIT-tagged fish detected in the juvenile fish bypass systems at John Day and/or Bonneville dams that were assumed to have been transported from Little Goose Dam (based on their last detection). Based on their detections at Little Goose, these 142 fish were routed to the raceways between 6AM (PST) on May 21 and noon on May 22. During this interval, 303 PIT-tagged fish were routed to the raceways at Little Goose. Analyses involving "transported" fish at Little Goose should exclude, or at least flag, fish detected in the Sample Room or at the Raceways between 5/21/07 6:00 AM and 5/22/07 12:00 PM. 06/25/2007 13:52 Darren The files GOJ07176.103 and .104 were manually pushed to the server via PCA. No apparent cause for the trouble light received this weekend was found other than there have been some trouble with B gate closing. The soft close regulator was slightly adjusted. PC1 is 31 seconds behind atomic time and PC2 is 39 seconds behind atomic time. All transcievers were checked for tune. No sticks were thrown due to high fish traffic and high gate efficiencies. A problem was discovered with B gate in that on a single gate fire the soft close does not work properly.The gate works great on multible fires but once things have timed out and you fire that gate it almost slams closed. I reduced the travel close as much as I could which seems to help. After swapping two way sol's from A to B the problem remained with B gate. The site had a spare one way sol so that was swapped and still the problem. The cylinder appears to be leaking air which is most likely causing this phenomena. Spoke with site personnel and recommend that the cylinder be replaced as soon as possible, even if they only have an old one. I will email the site bio's of this upon returning to the office. No maintenace personnel were on site today. I mentioned to the personnel on site that if the cylinder isn't replaced soon there is a good chance the gate will start to damage it's self. This version contains additional AC-16 codes. Again, all scratch files were archived, and the patch files were uploaded in the proper temporal order. The PC clocks had drifted more than 30 seconds apart (the PC1 clock was 15 seconds AHEAD OF atomic time). After several attempts at home to get the Aventail VPN to work at home I gave up and came into the office. When I connected to the GOJ Utility and inspected the program it was found that A gate sensor 2 had been missed 3 times. I watched several diversion and determined that the sensor is still functional and working. I increased the count required to trigger a sensor alarm and cleared the existing alarm. I noticed that the B gate stuck on count had incremented to 2 so I called the separator and verified that the gate was working smoothly. PC1 and PC2 were set to within 1 second of atomic time. The gap file GOJ07120.207 contains no pittag or PLC data ie nothing was written to the raw file while PC1's clock was being updated. The .207 file was submitted to ptagis and the rest of PC2 files were archived. I increased the time a sensor has to be on to constitute a 'stuck on' condition to 60 seconds. There is no obivious reason for sensor 2 to show stuck on in the logic at times. Possible explaination is light reflextion or critters but no signs of critters under the shrowd? I looked into the gate trouble alarm that came on last night. It was caused by sensor 2 being stuck on. The gate is and was working properly but with out anti-slam logic as designed. I could not duplicate the error nor could I find a cause for the sensor to occasionally be stuck on. I increased the amount of time the sensors have to be on without the gate traveling to constitute a 'sensor stuck on' instance. PSMFC will continue to monitor. I looked for, but did not find, an "AC POWER OFF" message preceding the last time stamp of 11:45:01; because the computer is on a UPS, I expected to see messages indicating the computer was running even after power was shut off to the facility (including the transceivers). The sticks were retrieved at the SbyC tank. Results of the test following: A1 29/30 A2 30/30 A3 30/30 A4 30/30 B1 29/30 B2 27/30 B3 26/30 B4 30/30 C1 60/60 C2 60/60 C3 60/60 C4 60/60 A gate and flume were shut down for aproximately 10 min's due to sticks being stuck in the exit of the down shuet. Care should be taken on future GMCs to account for all sticks as the sticks caused a serious obstruction. The obstruction occured most likely due to sticks being thrown in close proximity to each other. The SbyC gate was found in good working order. The clocks on both PC1 is 31 seconds faster than atomic time and PC2 is 26 seconds faster than atomic time. Power was restored to line power just as I arrived. Everything came up as it should. Site personnel reported the following: Fish were over the seperator for the start of the season at 0700 on 04/01/2007. The facility will start to barge 8 days after GRJ starts to barge. The lock gate is expected to be repaired a month from today 04/02/2007. The facility is currently running on genrator power so that breakers can be replaced. The facility is expected to shut down briefly this afternoon to go back on PUD power. No other problems found. Discovered that both machines had rebooted around 7:00 AM this morning. That took care of the clock reset. I edited the truncated GOJ07092.102 file to append a CLOSE tag, and uploaded the file to PTAGIS. The site is scheduled to go to secondary bypass on 4/1/07. All transceivers were checked and tuned as necessary. The buffers were erased. The PLC messaging was tested. A problem was found with PC1 when a manual toggle was sent to the three way gate. It was found that the bit set by MM was being held on. A re-boot of PC1 resolved the problem. Prior to the problem being discovered a stick was sacraficed to the river as the three way did not divert. This is most likely a residual problem left over from the firmware problem discovered last month. PSMFC will monitor for future occurances. The test button for B gate was replaced. Condensation is building up in the enclosure that houses the push button and causing the contact to rust. The COE provided a push button. A conduit plug on the bottom of the enclosure was remove to help dry out the enclosure. I then transfered the updated hardware files to the ftp server. I set the times on PC1 and PC2, shutdown and reboot both machines. PC1 is 1 second behind atomic time and PC2 matches atomic time. Created a 2006 folder in C:\multimon\Previous Years Data and moved all of the 2006 raw files to this fold on both PC1 and PC2. I then tested all the switch positions to ensure all PLC message instructions are working properly.
