Sampling, and PIT tag interrogations, will resume in March, 2000. 12/02/99 11:44 Carter I restarted cron on grasun to try to eliminate the message from admin that two crons are running. 11/29/99 08:28 scott_li Rec'd Mail message problem with remote data site for GRA. Telnet session to grasun was successful . Tailed the current file being created to ensure data collection. Will monitor during the 11/29/99, 1300 hr for a successful load. 11/18/99 11:10 scott_li Communications with the data collection platform was restored Wed. 17, 99 at approx. 1400 Hrs. The root cause of the intermittent loss of comms was isolated to a bulkhead connector at the vistor center patch panel. This connection caused failure of the fiber ends when mated, and over time degraded the junction between the corp Distribution fiber and PSMFC fiber. Reterminated D fiber and replaced bulkhead connector at the V.S. patch panel. Inspected, cleaned and or polished every termination in the entire fiber loop. OTDR shoots isolated the problem to B.H conn. # 7 which has been the focus of problems in the past. OTDR results verified the integrity of the fiber run. If in the event that this comms link fails again in the future, PTOC will reterminate all D fiber connectors and replace bulkhead all connectors associated with the PTOC comms link at GRA and to include the fiber run to the GRJ JFF. With assistance from Pete Peterson, We installed an F.O. hub at the router on port eth1 in the pwr house and eliminated the AUI to F.O converter. This will allow Pete and PTOC to isolate connection problems between the COE network and the interrogation platforms at this site. 11/16/99 11:55 scott_li Confirmed that the fiber optic comms link between the power house and the GRA pittag room has lost continuity. PTOC maint. will respond 11/17/99 for repairs. The problem has been ongoing and intermittent in nature. NMFS personell verified that data collection is not being compromised in the interum. 10/25/99 15:53 scott_li T-1 communications was restored Friday Oct.22 approx. 1100 hrs. Problem was isolated to a faulty ST connector at the visitor center Patch Panel. OTDR trace captures confirmed the bad connector. Re-terminated transmit side of duplex fiber, tested good. Re-shot all fiber runs from gra pittag room to Power house router for future reference. Point of interest, OTDR captures also indicates a -7 db loss at ~ 180 ft from the power house on all fiber pairs shot from the gra pittag room. Seems that there could be a splice housing or patch panel that was not appearent in the past. 10/18/99 12:32 Don_Warf Called site personnel on 10/16 and today at 12:15 to verify that data is being collected on both PCs. 10/18/99 08:33 scott_li Communications with the sun computer have been lost since 99288. Called and left a message with Pete Peterson (COE Network Administrator) to relay any information that he may have with regards to the lost comms. Telnet and FTP session to grasun was also unsuccessful. 10/11/99 14:51 davem Due to a full disk condition on the Sun file server, PTOC did not receive data files for julian days 99282 and 99283. After Carter & Todd corrected the disk condition, I manually transferred PC1 data files to the server for 99282 and 99283, as well as GRA99284.001. I also replaced existing (truncated) versions of GRA99281.004 and GRA99284.002 on the server with the complete source files. I manually transferred all eleven files to Gladstone and (re)submitted the files for incorporation into the database. In the course of copying files from PC1 to the Sun server, I discovered that Multimon is mapped by default to /gra/pc2 on the server. This should be addressed and corrected during the next off-line work window. 09/28/99 08:50 scott_li Ken Thomas faxed stick test results for Monday, Sept. 27, 99. All coils on East and West flumes detected 9 of 9 stick tags and Diverter gates test was successful. 09/14/99 08:39 scott_li The I/P connection for this site has been completed, tested and verified as of 9/13/99. All fiber runs from the router to each interrogation site ( GRJ/GRA) have been function tested and recorded with an OTDR. 09/09/99 09:34 Carter_S GRA has been unreachable by telephone for a couple of days. Todd restarted ppp on sockeye and reset the modem on that end yesterday. I called the data line and the modem picked up but the connection sounded fuzzy. I called the trap and asked Ken to reset the modem in the PIT tag room. We'll see what happens. 09/07/99 08:18 scott_li Ken thomas faxed the weekly stick test results. all coils east and west flume detected 9 of 9 stick tags except for coil 8 , east flume, detected 8 of 9. 08/19/99 08:22 darren_c Went to site to inspect an insuffiecient coil, #08 on the east flume, when I arrived I noticed that there was no currrent from the exciter.I replaced the exciter first but found no change in the reaction of coil. I then swapped the coils and the #08 side was working fine which led me to believe the loop tuner was bad. I replaced the loop tuner and this solved the problem.Current was restored to normal. 08/17/99 08:52 scott_li Ken Thomas faxed the stick tag results for monday Aug. 16th. All coils east and west flume detected 9 of 9 stick tags except for coil 00 detected none. Will respond on Aug 18th. Hand pass diversion gate test O.k. 08/09/99 11:24 scottl Weekly stick test from NMFS. All 5 coils for east and west flume detected 9 of 9 stick tags. Hand pass diversion gate tested O.K. 08/02/99 15:32 scottl NMFS stick test reults for today. All 5 coils on east and west flume detected 9 of 9 stick tags. 08/02/99 15:02 scottl Due to loss of T-communications in gladstone, PTOC Maint. personell called site and asked SMP to verify data collection platform was operational. Inserted marker in file for clarification. 06/17/99 14:28 scottl There will be partial redundant interrogation data due to files from grapc2 that were loaded to fill gaps in the grapc1 data. 06/17/99 10:02 scottl The relocation of the pittag interrogation platform to the new Pittag room has been completed and is fully functional as of 1500 hrs 6/16/99. Interrogation files generated on Pc1 and 2 were extracted from the local drives and will be processed. 06/17/99 09:57 scottl The relocation of the pittag interrogation platform to the new Pittag room has been completed and is fully functional as of 1500 hrs 6/16/99. 06/07/99 16:01 scottl NMFS faxed in stick test results..
