The platform has been changed over to the new configuration and is ready to start collecting. There will be No files sent until the Router upgrade for the site has been completed. The coil placement as well as I.D.'s are as follows: EAST flume I.D.'s 00,02,04,A4, and A5 the WEST flume 10,12,14,B4 and B5. As you can see the setup is 400,400,400,ISO, and ISO. The site will be fully tested when there is water and air. 12/07/2000 11:17 Darren_C On wednesday Dec 6, 2000 the computer platform was shut down. Facility is watered down pending the addition of ISO coils and transceivers. The water up date is not yet known but will be posted when it is available. 12/06/2000 14:01 carters@ Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2000 13:47:49 -0800 From: Todd Kaehler To: Don Warf CC: Carter Stein , Dave Marvin , Darren Chase , Scott Livingston Subject: Re: FYI: grasun not answering... Work will start today on the dual system with completion in January 01. 11/14/2000 13:48 Scott_Li The phone line has a constant busy signal when dialed. This has been a problem in the recent past. Placed a trouble call with Colleen Lasher at USACE Granite dam. Left a message to call when the line has been repaired or with it's disposition. 11/06/2000 12:47 Scott_Li Ken Thomas faxed over weekly stick test results. All 5 coils on east and west flumes detected 9 of 9 stick tags for 100 % efficiency. 10/26/2000 09:38 Darren_C I traveled to Granite because we thought that an exciter had gone bad. When I arrived I found that the timer tags were firing and after running sticks across coils 02, 04,06 I found that the reads were 100%. I called Scott and had him go through the RAW files and we discovered that we were not missing fish but actually getting "cross talk" from coil 10 to coil 00. I swapped the cards inside the controller so that they were not side by side. This has solved this problem in the past. I will monitor this site to ensure that there are no more misreads. 10/16/2000 15:54 scott_li Replaced exciter on coils 16 and 18. Coil 18 was dead due to bad exciter. 10/16/2000 09:02 Darren_C On Tuesday Oct 10th I was on site for a scheduled power outage that was scheduled for 7 a.m. with power to be turned back on at 8 a.m. The power outage was pushed back until 8 a.m. but the systems at both the Adult and Juvenile sites had already been shut down. I closed files and logged the system off between 6:50 and 6:55 a.m. Power was restored at 9:15 a.m. and both systems were restored at this time. While the outage was going on I also attached the Nameplates to the Monitors and Transceiver enclosures as well as the Coil I.D.'s this was at the Juvenile site. 10/16/2000 08:13 scott_li The telephone line responds with a busy signal when dialed from a handset. Will place trouble call with COE. PTOC will be traveling to the site today and will follow up with the repair. 10/04/2000 08:59 Don_Warf Email from Hurson: Carter and Don: This same outage will be going on at Lower Granite also. BPA is replacing some tripping equipment for the transmission lines. This is protective equipment which trips turbines off line if there is a transmission fault, or something like that. At both projects, there will probalby be short periods of an hour or more at each project with no power at all to the fish facilities when the outage starts and maybe when it ends too. DH All: Due to a test that BPA needs to run, the Little Goose JFF will be without normal power from about 0630 hrs on Oct 10 (Tuesday) to 1700 hrs on Oct 12 (Thursday). 3 days. This will be continuous, including nights. All is not lost, however. A portable generator will be hooked up and we'll have enough juice to run the PIT tag system, lights, and a few other things that don't pull much load. I'm not sure how long the generator will run before it has to be refueled. Maybe 8 hours at a time. So power could well be intermittent. I believe ODFW needs a portable PIT tag detector. Rex 10/02/2000 08:22 scott_li Called the modem number at this site and received a busy signal. Seems to be the same problem experienced last week. Called Colleen Lasher USACE and she will respond to the problem and call PTOC when the connection has been repaired. 09/28/2000 12:18 scott_li PPP data communications has been restored and data has been received into PTAGIS 09/28/2000 09:59 scott_li Neil from NMFS verified that the problem is with the phone line. Collen Lasher from USACE will respond to the problem . Should know this morning whether or not the problem is external to the COE facility. If so, a trouble ticket will be initiated with US West. 09/28/2000 08:43 scott_li It appears the problem with gra ppp connection is with the phone lines and not the modems. Attempting to contact someone at the adult trap to help diagnose the problem before making site visit. The problem also seems to be related to dialing into the site not dialing out from the site. Dialing in yields a busy signal. 09/27/2000 15:52 scott_li Dave Marvin had Jerry Harmon MNFS reset the modem at the site and verify data is being collected. Called the modem via handset and got a busy signal. Will follow up in the AM on thursday. 09/18/2000 08:15 Darren_C On Friday 8-15-00 I visited the site to fix a failing exciter. After the exciter was replaced a wire shorted on coil 00. I fixed the wire and then checked current and tuning on both coils. I ran sticks over both coils 10, 00 and found no problems with detection or diversion. 09/07/2000 16:48 scott_li GMC found no problems to report 09/07/2000 10:45 Dave At ~1:30 pm PST on September 6, I installed a new database and map file (GRA00250.DB and MAP, respectively) to accomodate a new USFWS SbyC request. While there, I also identified and corrected the mispelling of "RESULT.DAT" in the HW1 file. 08/29/2000 09:55 Dave Backfilled data collection hole with GRA00231.105-232.101. 08/21/2000 16:17 Don_Warf Visited site for a general maintenance check and found no problems. 08/21/2000 16:04 scott_li Ken thomas NMFS faxed over the weelky stick test results. East flume detected 9 of 9 stick tags on all 5 coils West Flume: coil 10 detected 9 of 9, coil 12 , 9 of 9, coil 14 , 7 of 9, coil 16, 9 of 9, coil 18 , 9 of 9. Divert test was successful on both diversion gates east and west 08/16/2000 14:58 sco]tt_l *** The fs / is now 81 0.000000ull - Check it out. All coils east and west detected 9 of 9 stick tags on all coils east and west flumes. Diversion gate test was also successful. 07/10/2000 09:47 Dave Visited site on July 6 and retrieved missing or incomplete data files from PC1. 07/07/2000 08:29 scott_li Ken Thomas faxed over the weekly stick test on Wednesday 7/5. All coils east and west detected 9 of 9 stick tags. Diversion gate test was successful. 07/01/2000 20:22 jndchase On Friday 6-30-00 the exciter on coils 00,10 was replaced. There was no current when I arrived. Sticks were rubbed on the coil and I had 100% response. I also spoke with Trap operators about shutting off the Coded Wire Tag system. I explained that they could shut down the equiptment but could not turn the gate control switch to the "OFF" position as this would also turn the gates off to the pittag system. 06/28/2000 15:48 Darren_C On Monday afternoon (6-26-00) I received a call from Neil up at the Adult site and he informed me that all the coils on the West flume were tripping the East gate. I thought that it sounded like a software problem but was not sure. I called Dave Marvin and we discussed the Hardware and Map files for GRA. On Tuesday 6-27-00 I went up to investigate the problem. I found that the Map files for the West Diversion Units had the wrong bit mask. Dave talked me through changing them on both computers. He then had me go in through the Sun computer and remotely copy files from pc2 to pc1 logfiles. Then he had me issue some remote commands on PC1 to try and extradite the Hardware files to the floppy drive on PC2. This prompted an Error which was fixed by Bringing the system down to a DOS level and then back into multimon. The coils were tested and I found that the switch at the trap which controls the gates must be in the CWT position for the Pittags to trip the gate. This makes sense because there are only 3 positions total on the switch ( the other 2 positions are OFF, and MANUAL). I then went back into the Pittag room and verified that the tags were read by the respective coils. Sometime after I left ( the time stamp at 13:00) the files began to be truncated. I noticed this morning and promptly called Dave Marvin. We discussed the situation and he decided that he would call Jerry Harmon at the site and have him check a couple of things and then reboot the system on PC1. I received e-mail from Dave confirming that there may have been a problem from receiving the remote command yesterday. The PC was rebooted and now the files are coming in correctly. 06/27/2000 17:41 Dave Darren updated the map file to GRA00179.MAP, to correct my mistake in prior versions that activated the East-Monitor gate when an SbyC target fish was detected on the West-Monitor coils. This deficiency was previously masked by the concurrent activation of the Wire Tag detection system. The error was corrected at 11:00 PST (noon PDT) today. The upshot - the Wire Tag system correctly activated each gate when a wire tag was detected, and the East-Monitor PIT tag system correctly activated the East-Monitor gate when a PIT tag was detected, but the West-Monitor PIT tag system activated the East- Monitor gate when a PIT tag was detected in the West-Monitor system; so target PIT tags on the West-Monitor were not diverted as indicated, but any fish that happened to be sliding down the East-Monitor flume coincidently may have been diverted to the sample regardless of any wire or PIT tag marks. 06/23/2000 09:12 Darren_C Site maintenance was done on 6-22-00. The exciter on coils 12,14 was replaced and the Timer Tag on coil 14 was also replaced. Sticks were thrown with 100 0.000000e+00fficiency on all coils. 06/21/2000 09:49 scott_li Coil 14 seems to have a timertag malfunction. Problem will be addressed 6/22. |01 14 00/06/20 15:42:46 6E2D6B6B6B NOTFound| 57282 |01 14 00/06/20 10:41:10 6D36597659 NOTFound| 7923 |01 14 00/06/20 10:41:51 6D3669366D NOTFound| 49578 06/20/2000 08:20 scott_li Replaced Loop Tuner and exciter for coil 8. Tested good. Replaced exciter on coil 12 and 14. Coil read consistently hand passing stick over coil. Could not run sticks on the West flume after repair as NMFS had dewatered the flume for cleaning. Flume was scheduled to be down for approx. 1.5 hrs. NMFS faxed stick test results this morning and looks as if coil 12 and 14 are intermittent. Will respond if necessary. Also , a hole was burned through the flume pipe on the east raceway next to coil 8. This was caused by a short circuit in the Loop tuner leads. The hole is approx. 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Repaired hole with Butyl tape. 06/13/2000 08:38 scott_li General maintenance check found no problems to report. 06/06/2000 15:09 scott_li Ken Thomas weekly stick tag test resulted in 100 percent detection efficiency of 9 stick tags thrown on all coils , east and west flumes. Hand pass diversion gate test was also successful. Test was done on June 5th. 06/01/2000 08:29 Darren_C Coil 14 on the west flume was running poorly so the exciter was changed out. The rest of the exciters were checked for current. As of 6-1-00 the efficiencies are back to normal. 05/25/2000 16:45 Dave Added 4068 400kHz tagcodes to GRA00146.DB as AC 201. Added this action code (with a title of BJORNN) to DUs 1 & 3 in GRA00146.MAP, in order to divert (and collect) all such tagged fish. These are tags for adults marked at BON to enable diversion, and recovery of, radio tags. Also noted that PC2 was generating four files a day. Modified that to 8 files/day in GRA00146.HW2 to match the settings on PC1. 05/10/2000 10:39 Darren_C Tuesday May 9, 2000 a GMC was performed. 05/04/2000 09:34 scott_li General maintenence check found no problems to report. Assisted Dave Marvin in reloading a new Map file, gra00123.map on pc1 and 2. 05/02/2000 17:02 davem Scott Livingston installed a new map file (GRA00123.MAP). The new map contains two changes to SbyC actions at the Lower Granite Adult Trap. Effective immediately, 1) the diversion ratio for '98 Dworshak chinook (AC 81) drops from 1:2 to 1:3; and 2) all '98 releases from Rapid River, McCall, Imnaha, and Lookingglass (AC 82-85) are now simply monitored rather than actively diverted. This modification was made at the request of the Fish Passage Center to reduce the unnecessary collection of fish in the Adult Trap. 04/28/2000 09:56 scott_li The hardware files for PC1 and 2 was rebuilt for full compatability with Multimon 7.01. This fixes the rocketport initialization problem of not recognizing all R.P channels. 04/24/2000 20:51 Don_Warf Visited site for a general maintenance check. Found coil 08 down with a loose connection at the coil. Tightened connection and returned to service. 04/05/2000 08:06 scott_li Data transmission from this facility again has been disabled due to data file truncation. This facility will be reconfigured for PPP protocol on 4/5/00. NMFS to periodically check on Data collection computers to ensure data is logged to the local drive. 03/31/2000 09:00 scott_li Data transmission to gladstone was restored on 3/30/00. A faulty network hub and power supply was the root cause of the failure and was replaced. 03/29/2000 08:18 scott_li Data transmission to the Gladstone server has been suspended do to an I/P network hardware failure. Informed NMFS to periodically insert Markers into current data file to ensure data is being collected. Data transmission should resume on 3/30/00. 03/27/2000 15:37 scott_li Ken Thomas (NMFS) weekly stick test report: All coils for east and west flumes detected 100 percent of the 9 stick tags tested. 03/24/2000 12:00 Dave_Marvin GRA has been configured for Separation by Code (SbyC) to divert and identify returning Cumulative Survival Study (CSS) fish, using the GRA00084.DB lookup list. 03/24/2000 10:56 Don_Warf Site personnel report that the site was watered back up on 3/23/00 at 11:00 am, having been out of service since March 8. 03/22/2000 09:43 scott_li The platform standardization and rebuild process has been completed. The system is up and collecting data. 03/22/2000 08:40 darren_c March 8, 2000 the flumes had no water in them. There was a trouble report filled out by the site biologist. They were experiencing a problem with water flow in one of the 18" pipes to the upwell. They will inform us as to when the flumes have water. 03/22/2000 08:38 scott_li The adult fish trap is still NOT in operation. COE maint. personell as of 3/21/00 had not isolated the root cause of the problem. A faulty valve is suspected but has not been confirmed. PTOC asked NMFS to keep us informed as to when the trap is back in operation. 03/09/2000 08:57 darren_c Wednesday march 8, 2000 - Coils 02, 04 were not reading sticks. Ireplaced exciter but was unable to run sticks. There was no water in the flumes. Ken Thomas had turned in a trouble report but the water was not in the flumes at 2 p.m. when I left. I did run sticks on the outside of the coils and counted 10 of 10. 03/07/2000 13:39 darren_c On 3-3-2000 The facility was watered up and test sticks were run on all 400 monitors. I had to replace a loop tuner on coil 02. all sticks were seen. 03/03/2000 12:00 Dave_Marvin Lower Granite Adult Trap watered up for the season this morning. 03/03/2000 16:15 GRJ COE router in Portland was not letting mail from Granite through. Lynn, in Portland COE network operations, fixed the problem and mail is now getting to ptagis from Granite. 03/03/2000 15:41 scott_li PC1 was not collecting data from ~ 1330 3/2/00 until 3/3/00 ~1230 due to a license violation detection. This problem has been corrected. Ken McEntire rebooted pc1 and data collection on pc1 was continued. In the interim time frame, Pc2 had taken over control of the slide gates and was collecting data. 03/03/2000 09:18 scott_li Due to a PC-NFS license violation between grapc2 and grjpc1 , The NFS software was reloaded and the pc's were allocated new software license numbers. The hard drives on pc1 and 2 at GRA, were reformatted and the software stack completely reloaded. This was done to purge the past configurations and multiple files that resided on the drives and to avoid confusion with the current configuration. 01/05/00 09:57 carters Initial log creation for GRA ####End of Event Log for GRA###
