PSMFC will be on site sometime next week with a spectrum analyzer. A fish was recorded on all 4 weirs on Friday 12/28/2007. The ladder is scheduled to de-water on 1/2/2008. 12/27/2007 07:19 troy@ruf 01:ReaderReset,02:ReaderReset,02:RocketPortNoEOT,03:ReaderReset,04:ReaderR eset,05:ReaderReset,06:ReaderReset,07:ReaderReset,08:ReaderReset,08:Rocket PortNoEOT: These alarms were created during trouble shooting of the noise issue that is still occuring. 12/26/2007 15:20 Troy At the site 12/26/2007 to try and determine the cause of the excessive noise alarms on all 8 ladder antennas. Played with grounding to no avial. Shut off transceivers to see if perhaps one was causing the others to be noisy. No luck. Took a tour with a COE electrician shutting off lights but no change. Spoke to the operator on duty who checked the log book for me to see if anything was turned off or on at ~6:49 am but there was nothing out of the ordinary in the log book. Disconnected the level transmitter with the blessing of the COE electrician and nothing changed. Tried diffirent grounding configurations with jumper cables on the LT's conduits with no effect. PSMFC will return with a spectrum analyzer when someone who knows how to operate one is available. More information will be posted when it becomes available. 12/26/2007 07:08 troy@ruf 06:TestTagFailure: PSMFC will travel to site to see why all transceivers are in excessive noise which caused this TT failure. 12/25/2007 10:14 troy A call was made to the dam operator who confirmed that the water level is normal. PCA'ed into the site again and was able to read a TT on all transceivers. All transceivers are between 20% and 80% signal level with the upper transceivers having the higher noise? More info when it is available. 12/25/2007 09:56 Troy A attempt to contact the site is being made. It appears as if the ladder may have de-watered as all the transceivers are in an excessive noise state. All the transceivers were checked for tuning, noise, and detection ability. The PC clocks were slow of atomic time by 1minute and 12 seconds, they were adjusted to within 1 second of atomic time and each other. This does NOT affect the timestamps in the MultiMon data files, but it does shift automatic file create back one hour. Upon arrival it was revealed to me that Dave had already changed the delay in the diversion units to 1. I verified that the PLC is set at 5 (5x.01sec or 50 mSec)and reviewed a diversion with Ken and Jerry on the DVR that occured after Dave made the changes to Multimons diversion units. It appears that the changes Dave made were critical as the gate was open prior to the fish arriving, as it should be. I review misses that occured earlier in the week and it is appearant that the bigger fish were arriving at the gate as the gate was starting to open, resulting in the fish to be missed or pinched in the gate. I offered to throw sticks but site personnel were happy with the diversion that was captured after Dave's changes. The fish was rather large and arrived at the gate as it reached the fully open state. I offered to remove the 50mS from the PLC and they determined that it didn't' appear to be necessary. The gates are set to be open for 4 seconds. No problems to report and thank you Dave for the change to the diversion units. 09/12/2007 11:55 Dave I updated the map file to GRA07255.MAP, removing all MM delay from the trap antennas for tags diverted from and into the trap. Jerry Harmon complained that he had missed about 38% of his target tags. I suspect that we might want to minimize the delay at the PLC, and re-institute the default MM delays of 600, 400, 200, and 1 msecs at the four antennas on each flume, upstream to downstream. 09/10/2007 13:04 Darren A site GMC was performed today (9-10-07). The files that were outstanding loaded on there own at the 15:00PST load time. 09/02/2007 11:15 Darren_C With the help of site personnel I was able to verify the data collection platforms are collecting data on the correct files. 09/02/2007 10:03 Darren_C I was able to verify that the Walla Walla district communications are down. According to Lin Ming at Little Goose Dam he received and e-mail yesterday that stated because of a severe storm in Walla Walla there was some damage to a 4 ton Air Conditioning unit at the district office and that the communications would be down until Monday, probably Tuesday because of the Holiday. I will have to verify all platforms with the help of site personnel as best I can. I was able to verify GOJ data collection. 09/02/2007 09:14 Darren_C It appears that there is some problems with the Walla Walla District communications and has been since yesterday afternoon. I have been trying to reach Pete Peterson or Dave Dave Demaris to verify the problem. All transceivers were checked for tuning, noise, and detection ability. The current thresholds for all the adult transceivers were checked and adjusted as needed to maintain at least a 300mV setting, no problrmd were found. The PC clocks were off by 1 minute so they were adjusted to within 1 second of atomic time and each other. Per Ken Thomas, he expects that the trap will resume operation somewhere around the 20th of Aug. All tranceivers were checked for tune and recalibrated as necessary. The water level in the fish ladder appears to be ~ 3 ft lower than usuall, never seen the ladder that low. Taked with site bio and they were unaware that the level was that low. Could be something that the powerhouse is doing but was unsure. Site personell to check into this condition. Interrogation system clocks are within 12 seconds of each other. All transceivers were checked for tune and no problems were found. The trap is currently de-watered. There are 2 new Heating and Air Conditioning units installed in the pittag room. The remote controls for each are on the shelf adjacent to the units. PC1 is 33 seconds behind atomic time and PC2 is 28 seconds behind atomic time.
