Ran sticks on B-Sep with these results: Coil 2C read 9 out of 10. Coil 2E read 9 out of 10. 09/24/97 08:33 carters GRJ-7, SUBSAMPLE: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 09/22/97 10:15 jen GRJ phone line is dead. Calling US West to get them on the repair. 09/08/97 10:29 scottl The Sample gate was in-operative from 9/6 until 9/8/97 approx 0830. due to a wire brush was caught in the slide rails of the Sub-Sample gate. Tim Wik removed the brush and verified proper operation.. 09/08/97 10:26 scottl This entry is for work done on 9/5/97. Replaced power supply for coils 24,26 on sub-sample monitor. The supply volt for was at 25.5 Vdc and could be adjusted any further. Supply is now at 27Vd String tag test indicated good reading efficiency. Found the Air pressure fo the Sub-Sample gate at 75psi. Adjusted the backup air compressor regulator to 100psi. This was done to try and improve diversion efficiency. The supply pressure does not seem to be consistently stable and is most likely t be the cause of poor performance. 09/04/97 09:08 dlwarf GRJ-6, DIVERSION 2: Annunciator warnings acknowledged. 09/04/97 09:05 dlwarf GRJ-7, SUBSAMPLE: Annunciator warnings acknowledged. Replaced exciter for coils 24 and 26 on subsample and tuned. Ran 15 sticks that read over 90 percent on all coils. (per Livingston) 09/02/97 09:10 scottl The facility went to 100ample on 8/24/97 at 0700. The hydrolics in the subsample flume where causing poor efficiency with the subsample monitor. This was corrected by closing the fore most upstream exit flume of the sample head box. The sample gate diversion efficiency is less than desirable at this time as it has always been. All delays are at zero in the PLC. Stick test was ran on the sample gate with 100 percent diversion. 09/02/97 09:09 scottl The facility went to 100ample on 8/24/97 at 0700. It was also reported that the A separator monitor will be used for short periods when the B side needs to be cleared of debris. 08/12/97 08:40 dlwarf Visited for a general maintenance check. Ran sticks on B separator with these results: Coil 2C read 10 for 10. Coil 2E read 10 for 10. Timer tag for coil 28 not firing due to dewatering. 08/01/97 15:13 scottl GRJ-5, DIVERSION 1: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 08/01/97 12:41 scottl Tehe A-side separator flume has been dewatered indefinatly due to debree problems. A debree screen was installed in the separator so the altering of the sub-sample flume will not be needed. Oilers where installed on the Slide-gate control system. 07/25/97 06:35 dlwarf GRJ-5, DIVERSION 1: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 07/25/97 06:34 dlwarf GRJ-3, RACEWAY WEST/EXIT: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 07/24/97 10:18 scottl Replaced all air tubing for entire control system. The existing Air line was failing at an unexeptable rate. The replacement air line is of higher quality and should be Maintenence free.. 07/19/97 11:53 scottl GRJ-6, DIVERSION 2: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 07/19/97 11:52 scottl GRJ-5, DIVERSION 1: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 07/16/97 16:08 scottl Visited site to survey proposed mods with regards to the sub-sample. Also ge maintenence check found slide gate on the A-side was slamming shut. Adjusted exhaust valve to correct problem. Also drained both air traps and noticed th be full of water and oil. Further inspection found the oiler was installed before the air traps. So the air dryers are trapping the oil. Will inform co that this needs to be corrected ASAP. 07/15/97 13:22 carters Annunciator panel showing low efficiencies on diversion 1 and diversion 2 coils. 07/11/97 08:25 dlwarf GRJ-7, SUBSAMPLE: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 07/03/97 09:19 dlwarf Visited yesterday for a general maintenance check. Reduced air pressure to sample gate to reduce banging on the opening. Ran 10 sticks on the separator monitors with these results: 28 read 10. 2A read 10. 2C read 10. 2E read 10. 06/30/97 08:14 dlwarf GRJ-5, DIVERSION 1: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 06/30/97 09:33 dlwarf Pit tagged fish are being seen at the subsample during the Divert During Sample mode. This is a normal condition at this time. Modifications are needed to improve efficiency of the sample gate in this mode. At this time no agency has come forward with a request including funds to remedy this situation. We will continue to work with the current setup to maximize efficiency 06/26/97 08:21 scottl Retuned A-Seperator gate coils 28,2a to help improve detection efficiency. Also noticed that the water coming out of the seperator was very sloppy and not at the ideal operating levels for the detectors. Had seperator op. lower the level to improve hydraulics thru the monitor. Fish where barrel rolling as they passed thru the monitor. Also, increased open time on the Sa gate to 1.2 seconds, to better increase the odds of successful diversion while in sample mode. Stick test for coils 28,2a, 20 of 20 detections on both coils. Sample gate diverted all 20 sticks. Stick test for B-sep. coils 2c,2e detected 17 of 17 stick tags. Cleaned card connectors in controller 13(A-seperator) for preventive maint. 06/23/97 11:28 carters GRJ-6, DIVERSION 2: Annunciator warnings acknowledged 06/12/97 07:00 carters PIT tag override of subsample activated at 07:00 today. 06/11/97 12:45 dlwarf Site personnel report that a barge damaged the outfall pipes downsteam from the pittag headbox at 9:30am on 6/6/97. The pittag system was then switched to the BYPASS mode on the slide gate control panel. This directed pittagged fish to the raceways but did not affect the subsample. The pipe was repaired on 6/10/97 at 8:00am. The system was then switched back to the NORMAL mode which diverts the pittagged fish back to the river. Site personnel also report that a plug occurred in the barge loading line on 6/9/97. This involved fish collected starting at 7:00am on 6/6/97 to 7:00am on 6/8/97 and includes the pittagged fish sent to the raceways because of the damage to the outfall pipes. Site personnel estimate that a small percentage of fish were loaded into the barge before the plug occurred. The rest were released into the river. 06/06/97 12:54 dlwarf Site personnel report that a barge has damaged the outfall pipes from GRX and the GRJ Pittag head box. All Pittaged fish will have to be sent to the raceways until repairs are made. This was done by switching to BYPASS on the PLC control panel. This will shut off the divertion but will not affect the subsample. 06/06/97 12:44 dlwarf Visited for a general maintenance check on 6/5/97. Found no problems. Ran sticks on the separator monitors with these results: Coil 28 read 10 for 10. 2A read 10 for 10. 2C read 10 for 10. 2E read 10 for 10. 05/22/97 07:50 dlwarf Visited for a general maint. check. Ran sticks on Separator Coils with these results. Coil 28 read 10 for 10. 2A read 10 for 10. 2C read 10 for 10. 2E read 10 for 10. Helped COE maintenance personnel install an oiler for the sample and slide gate pneumatics. Replaced exciter for coils 14 and 16 due to a drop in efficiency. 05/15/97 09:03 dlwarf Replaced exciter for A Separator/Gate due to decreased efficiency. Ran sticks with these results. Coil 28 read 20 for 20. 2A read 20 for 20. 2C read 20 for 20. 2E read 19 for 20. 05/09/97 08:28 dlwarf The air south compressor was found to have a faulty switch on 5/6/97 around 11:00am. This shut down both slide gates and the sample gate when the duty cycle was in the south compresssor mode which means the gates were down 50 of the time. The switch was replaced by a COE Electrician on 5/7/97 at 9:00am. 05/05/97 09:22 carters PPP on grjsun dialing out continuously so it was disabled yesterday. Data collection is continuing on a normal basis. 04/25/97 16:00 dlwarf Replaced loop tuner for coil 1A. Could not stick test due to direct barge loading. Fired timer tags to confirm operation. 04/16/97 10:56 dlwarf Visited site for a general maint. check. Replaced exciter for coils 36 and 38 due to low current. Ran sticks on the separator monitors with these results: Coil 28 read 19 of 20. 2A read 18 of 20. 2C read 20 of 20. 2E read 20 of 20. 04/15/97 08:57 scottl This is entry is an addition to changes made to The timing parameters in the map file on 4/10/97. It was noticed that the diversion efficiency was down a 30 0ue to the delay times for the upstream coil and downstream coils. Reduc the delay time to 1ms between the separator coils. Stick tested slide gates changes where made and all 40 of 40 sticks where successfully diverted. 04/14/97 08:49 scottl Replaced exciter for on A-separator gate to improve efficiency. Ran 4 sets of 20 stick tags after exciter replacement, Results as follows. Test 1 Test 3 Coil 28 20 of 20 Coil 28 20 of 20 Coil 2A 20 of 20 Coil 2A 20 of 20 Test 2 Test 4 Coil 28 20 of 20 Coil 28 20 of 20 Coil 2A 20 of 20 Coil 2A 20 of 20 The water flow thru the Flume was noticed to very excessive and sloppy. It is very likely that this is the cause of somewhat low efficiency. Will talk to Tim Wik regarding this for possable solutions. 04/09/97 07:58 scottl Visited site for general maint. check. Checked tune on A and B separator. Stick tested Separator coils. Results as follows. Found 1 bad stick in batch. A-sep, coil 28, 19 of 19 stick tags coil 2a, 18 of 19 B-Sep, coil 2c, 19 of 19 coil 2e, 19 of 19 Both gates successfully diverted all stick tags.... Sub-sample timer tags where re-positioned on coil for better readability. Will visit site twice per week to ensure optimum performance. 04/04/97 13:03 carters On Wednesday, April 2, 1997, testing was performed on the interrogation data collection platform at Lower Granite. The purpose of the test was to determine that the Separation by Code M of N counters were incrementing correctly if a fish that was seen on both upstream and down stream coils. It was possible for both coils to increment the M count. A timing delay on the upstream coil would correct the mis-count problem. In the process of establishing this timing delay another anomoly was found. This anomoly related to the initialization of the Rocket Ports. If a multimon user closed and opened a file, the rocketports would not initialize correctly. If the mulitmon program was started automatically then this problem did not occur. On Friday, April 4, 1997 additional testing and trouble shooting was performed. Multimon.exe code was changed to initilize the Rocket Ports or not, depending on the appropriate scenerio. Another change will be made in multimon to buffer tag codes and associated result codes in order to negate the need to use a timing delay to correctly increment the M of N counters for a fish that is seen on both upstream and downstream coils. During this testing many interrogation files were created. Sandy Downing may correct this info if I've made some glareing mistakes. 04/02/97 08:16 dlwarf Fine tuning of the site was completed on 3/31/97. 03/30/97 07:36 carters Lower Granite watered up on Wednesday, March 26. ####End of Event Log for 1_GRJ###
