EVENT LOG FOR SITE GRJ Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time & who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 12/07/2000 11:19 Darren_C The computer platforms were shut down yesterday Dec 6. They will be off until the initialization of the site for the next out migration year. Both sites are Dewatered. 11/27/2000 09:03 pittag@p C3:TestTagFailure: It appears that a pittag fish passed through the coils while the test tag was firing. C1 read the test tag but no fish C3 did not read either the fish or the test tag. Checking the file further shows that the test tag is working properly. 11/09/2000 22:29 pittag@p 21:ReaderReset,22:InputSyncDetect,22:InputSyncLost: Alarms caused by a random reader reset. This problem is being addressed by PTOC personnel and Destron-Fearing. 11/06/2000 10:03 Dave SMP personnel report the Juvenile Fish Facility was dewatered at 0700h on 10/31/00. The fish bypass system is now in Primary Bypass mode. Smolt monitoring/sampling (and PIT tag interrogation) activities are suspended until the facility waters-up next spring. 11/03/2000 08:04 darren@p C2:InputSyncDetect,C2:ReaderReset: Alarm was generated by a random reader reset. This problem is being addressed by PTOC personnel and Destron-Feraing. 10/23/2000 08:16 darren@p D1:ReaderReset,D2:InputSyncDetect,D2:InputSyncLost: Alarm was generated by a random reader reset. This problem is being addressed by PTOC personnel. 10/16/2000 09:31 Dave Per LGR SMP personnel, "The project shut down all generation from October 10 at 0750 until October 11 at 2130 hours to test new relays that were recently installed. Hourly spill ranged from 1.8 kcfs to 19.9 kcfs and averaged 18.2 kcfs." 10/16/2000 09:16 darren@p B1:ReaderReset,B2:InputSyncDetect,B2:InputSyncLost: Alarm was generated by a random reader reset. This problem is still being addressed by Destron-Fearing and PTOC personnel. 10/16/2000 09:02 Darren_C On Tuesday Oct 10th I was on site for a scheduled power outage that was scheduled for 7 a.m. with power to be turned back on at 8 a.m. The power outage was pushed back until 8 a.m. but the systems at both the Adult and Juvenile sites had already been shut down. I closed files and logged the system off between 6:50 and 6:55 a.m. Power was restored at 9:15 a.m. and both systems were restored at this time. While the outage was going on I also attached the Nameplates to the Monitors and Transceiver enclosures as well as the Coil I.D.'s this was at the Juvenile site. 10/04/2000 14:00 Carter Bb reports low disk space. Compressed archived files in pc2 multimon directory to reclaim disk space. 10/04/2000 08:53 Don_Warf Email from Hurson: Carter and Don: This same outage will be going on at Lower Granite also. BPA is replacing some tripping equipment for the transmission lines. This is protective equipment which trips turbines off line if there is a transmission fault, or something like that. At both projects, there will probalby be short periods of an hour or more at each project with no power at all to the fish facilities when the outage starts and maybe when it ends too. DH All: Due to a test that BPA needs to run, the Little Goose JFF will be without normal power from about 0630 hrs on Oct 10 (Tuesday) to 1700 hrs on Oct 12 (Thursday). 3 days. This will be continuous, including nights. All is not lost, however. A portable generator will be hooked up and we'll have enough juice to run the PIT tag system, lights, and a few other things that don't pull much load. I'm not sure how long the generator will run before it has to be refueled. Maybe 8 hours at a time. So power could well be intermittent. I believe ODFW needs a portable PIT tag detector. Rex 09/18/2000 08:12 Darren_C On friday 8-15-00 I went to GRJ to change the priorities for the separator monitors and the rest of the sight. I changed the separators to HIGH and the rest of the sight monitors to LOW. This may help with the final dispositions in the files. 09/16/2000 10:27 dlwarf@p A1:ReaderReset,A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:InputSyncLost: Reader resets caused by PTOC maintenance activities. 09/07/2000 16:48 scott_li SMP reported that the Sample Gate diversion efficiency was low. It was found that a combination of problems was the reason for the low efficiency. First, the oiler system for the Sample gate did not have any oil in the canister . Second, the air cylinder has has been exposed internally to excessive water therefore degrading the cylinders performance. Third , the exhaust snubbers need to be replaced . The adjustment screw in broken and cannot be adjusted. The COE did not have any replacement snubbers. PSMFC will source and provide due to COE budget constraints. Had COE repair and fill the oiler for the Sample gate. After manually cycling the gate multiple times , it seemed to respond and divert stick tags at 100 percent efficiency. SMP and PTOC personnel will monitor diversion performance and again respond when necessary. The poor performance of this gate was due to lack of maintenance by the COE. PTOC will assure that this gate performs as well as it can for the rest of the season. GMC found no other problems to report. 09/07/2000 11:07 Dave Recently we observed that PIT tag diversion from the sample, under the Divert-during-Sample (DDS) regime, has been low. Yesterday, under Scott Livingston's direction, COE maintenance staff serviced, replaced, and/or repaired several pneumatic components of the PIT tag slide gate assembly. Reasonable, if not optimal, diversion efficiency was immediately restored following these adjustments. COE personnel will monitor the mechanical components, and on-site biological staff will monitor the presence or (expected) absence of tagged fish in the facility sub-sample. 08/28/2000 16:08 Dave Backfilled hole in data collection with GRJ00231.103. 08/21/2000 16:22 Don_Warf Ran 20 sticks on both separator monitors with 100oil and diversion efficiency. Downloaded temperature information from data logger. Corrected invalid paths in hardware file for PC1. Adjusted air to sample gate to prevent missing of pittagged fish during "Divert During Sample" mode. 08/15/2000 08:28 darren@p 93:InputSyncDetect,93:ReaderReset: Alarm is generated by a random reader reset. This problem is being investigated by PSMFC and Destron- Fearing 08/10/2000 09:37 scott_li Hobo temp data loggers was installed inside selected transceiver enclosures at each of these sites 8/9/00. Data will be extracted in approx. 2 weeks. 08/09/2000 13:40 Dave The SbyC system map has been updated to extend the last two periodic samples by U of I from 48 to 96 hours. The new map, GRJ00222.MAP, was installed this morning. The file was also uploaded to the Site_Configuration area of the PTAGIS FTP site. The changes in the sampling regime were also added to the schedule available in the PTOC/SbyC area of the PTAGIS web site. 08/03/2000 08:03 Darren_C A general maintenance check was performed. Sticks were thrown on the separator with 100 0.000000e+00fficiency. 08/03/2000 07:59 darren@p 22:TestTagFailure: Alarms were generated by PSMFC personnel while diong site maintenance. 07/22/2000 09:29 darren@p B1:ReaderReset,B2:InputSyncDetect,B2:InputSyncLost: Alarms were generated on coil B2 by the reader reset on coil B1. This problem is being addressed by PSMFC and Destron-Fearing. 07/19/2000 08:37 Darren_C A general maintenance check was performed. All transceivers were checked for noise and current. Sticks were thrown on the separators with 100% efficiencies. 07/07/2000 08:16 Dave I updated the SbyC configuration to accommodate U of I's Fall Chinook study. Current map file is GRJ00188.MAP; current lookup db is GRJ00189.DB. This db, which contains ~15k FCH tag codes, supercedes the list I built and installed yesterday, GRJ00188.DB, which contained ~5k FCH codes. 06/20/2000 08:26 scott_li General maintenance check found no problems to report, although it was noted that display field in Multimon on PC1 had not been completely painted, meaning that the bottom border of the display field was not complete. Data collection was not interrupted by this. Copied missing files 00166.102 and 167.102 to pc1 log files directory for upload and processing. 06/13/2000 08:56 scott_li General maintenance found an excessive amount of water in the airlines and water trap that supply the 2 and 3 way rotating gate. Drained all the water traps and purged water from air lines on the 2 way and 3 way gates. Informed the corp. to drain the water traps at least once every other day until the new compressors and water dryers are operational. This should be within a week or two per COE site maintenance personnel. Also the air pressure for the A-side slide gate was at 60 Psi. Adjusted pressure to 100 psi. Not sure why the pressure was so low... Stick tested a and b separator with 100 percent diversion and detection efficiency. FYI... The flow rate at the 2 way rotational gate was 7.8ft per sec at 6 inches deep. 06/01/2000 08:25 Darren_C While checking SBCA reports we discovered that the separators were only running at about 67 0.000000e+00fficiency. When I arrived I tested the gate via the button and the gates worked. The B side worked only a couple of times and then stopped. I found a Sticky solenoid which was replaced. Sticks were run on both sides and responded at 100%. Site maintenance was informed of the change. All other t4ransceivers were checked for noise and current. 05/25/2000 16:55 Dave Modified Multimon map file; added AC255 (STICKS) to DU 5 (monitoring the 3-way gate). I decided not to divert stick tags to a separate net pen at this time, as there currently is no floating net pen available to collect those tags and any incidentally diverted fish. The new map file, containing the "monitoring" action for the stick tags, is named "GRJ00146.MAP." 05/23/2000 08:02 Darren_C Coils D1,D2,andD3 were repositioned to try and improve the efficiencies. The first configuration that we tried was coils 1,2 and 3. The next configuration was using coils 2,3 and 4. The configuration that is currently in place is coils 1,3 and 4. Since we are only using 3 coils of the 4. We will monitor this configuration and see if this improves the efficiencies. 05/16/2000 11:01 Darren_C The SbyC coils (D1,D2,D3) were changed so that the first of the 2 monitors now contains coil D1 and the second contains coils D2 and D3. This was done because of the hydraulics caused by the corner just before the first monitor. The efficiencies were lagging on the first coil. We will monitor these coils and if the situation does not improve steps will be taken to try and improve this monitor. 05/16/2000 07:54 darren@p D1:LowExcCurrent,D1:ReaderReset,D1:TestTagFailure,D2:InputSyncDetect,D2:In putSyncLost,D2:ReaderReset,D2:TestTagFailure,D3:InputSyncDetect,D3:InputSy ncLost,D3:LowExcCurrent,D3:TestTagFailure: These alarms were generated while PSMFC personnel were doing coil placement on the SbyC monitor. 05/10/2000 10:39 Darren_C Tuesday May 9, 2000 a GMC was performed. 05/09/2000 08:07 darren@p 21:ReaderReset,22:InputSyncDetect,22:InputSyncLost: Coil 21 experienced a reader reset. This problem is being looked at by Destron it also caused the loss of sync on coil 22. 05/04/2000 09:44 scott_li General maintence check found no problems to report. 05/02/2000 12:22 Don_Warf D3:LowExcCurrent: Alarm caused by PSMFC general maintenance check. 05/02/2000 12:18 Don_Warf D1:LowExcCurrent,D1:TestTagFailure: noted. 05/02/2000 12:17 Don_Warf D3:LowExcCurrent: This alarm was caused during a psmfc general site maintenance. 05/02/2000 12:16 Don_Warf D1:LowExcCurrent,D1:TestTagFailure: These alarms were caused by psmfc general site maintenance. 05/02/2000 12:16 Don_Warf Visited site for a general maintenance check. Ran 20 sticks on A and B separator monitors with 100% Coil and diversion efficiency. Checked rotational gate operation and timing for SbyC operations that will start tomorrow. Turned "SbyC Enable" switch to "On" at 4:15 pm. 05/02/2000 12:15 Don_Warf C4:TestTagFailure: This alarm may be a result of the test tag firing while there were tags in the field. I will watch to see if this problem persists. 05/02/2000 12:15 Don_Warf 92:InputSyncDetect,92:LowLithium,92:ReaderReset: Reset caused by PSMFC maint. Low bat. checked out and corrected by ajusting holding arm. 05/02/2000 12:15 Don_Warf 92:LowLithium: This alarm is still in the status report. I will try and contact someone on monday and have them reset the reader. This should clear the status and the alarm. 05/02/2000 12:14 Don_Warf 92:LowLithium: I tried to get a hold of someone on friday to reset this reader but was unsuccessful. Will try again today. 05/02/2000 12:14 Don_Warf 92:LowLithium: I will try to get a hold of someone at the facility and get the reader reset. This should clear the low lithium out of the status report and clear the alarm. 05/02/2000 12:13 Don_Warf On April 3, 2000 Sean Casey and PSMFC ran a controlled stick test on all coils at the facility. All coils checked out fine. There were no problems noted for the site. 05/02/2000 12:13 Don_Warf 92:LowLithium: This alarm may not be valid. It is coming from the status report. This means that the alarm did occur but may not be a valid alarm now. I will try and get someone from GRJ to reset the reader and see if the alarm still exists. 05/02/2000 12:12 Don_Warf 92:LowLithium: Battery will be checked on the next visit. 05/02/2000 12:12 Don_Warf 92:LowLithium: Will look into the low lithium and continue to watch report for futher failures. The battery may need to be changed. 05/02/2000 12:12 Don_Warf 23:TestTagFailure,51:BadExcFreq,51:BadOscFreq,51:LowExcCurrent,51:TestTagF ailure,52:InputSyncDetect,52:InputSyncLost,52:LowExcCurrent,52:TestTagFail ure,53:InputSyncDetect,53:InputSyncLost,53:TestTagFailure,B1:TestTagFailur e,D3:InputSyncDetect,D3:ReaderReset: All failures on 4/3 were generated as a result of fine tuning the coils and running a stick test. As for the test tag failure on coil B1 this may be a one time failure but I will keep monitoring it to see if it appears agian. D3 is a reader reset this problem is still being addressed by destron fearing. 05/02/2000 10:35 dlwarf@p D1:LowExcCurrent,D1:TestTagFailure: noted. 04/04/2000 18:00 Dave_Marvin The scheduled ISO fish evaluation was conducted today between noon and 4:00 pm (all times reported as PDT). Facility sub-sampling was suspended during the tests. All fish exiting the separator were diverted to the river between 12:00 and 1:15pm, and again from 2:30 until 4:00 pm. Between 1:15 and 2:30 pm, all fish, including PIT- tagged fish, were directed to the West raceways. Normal collection, PIT diversion, and subsampling operations resumed at 4:00 pm. 03/25/2000 07:00 Dave_Marvin Lower Granite Juvenile Facility watered up at 7:00 am. PIT tag interrogation and Separation by Code (SbyC) capabilities are enabled at water-up; the current Multimon lookup list is GRJ00083.DB. 01/23/2000 12:05 Carter_S Added timer tag information for GRJ. Still missing timer tags on coils: {C1, 91, 92}. 01/21/2000 12:00 darren_c As of January 12, 2000 The transition from 400KHZ to ISO has been completed and communicaitons have been established. GRX has been incorporated into GRJ. 01/05/00 09:57 carters Initial log creation for GRJ ####End of Event Log for GRJ###
