This was done so that we could keep the separator watered up and supply enough water to the sample holding tank while WDFW worked up the 2,100 plus fish we had on hand. Following WDFW finishing the sample, we switched to primary bypass mode (through the large pipe below the separator) at around 11 am. We will keep the separator in primary bypass mode through approximately December 15 for adult fallback fish and then shut down the collection gallery and the entire juvenile system. This problem has now been corrected, and the following state-changes have been entered manually into the GRJ 'DivertDuringSample' state-change log file accessible from the 'DGE_LastPLCValues' web display: 2002/08/16 10:18:25 --> set to 'ON' 2002/08/16 10:18:21 --> set to 'OFF' 2002/08/15 07:44:55 --> set to 'ON' 2002/08/15 07:44:55 --> set to 'OFF' 2002/08/08 09:19:51 --> set to 'ON' 09/20/2002 14:29 DGE_Robo DivertDuringSample (A_DDSample) changed from 'OFF' to 'ON' at 2002/09/20 10:17:38 09/20/2002 14:29 DGE_Robo DivertDuringSample (A_DDSample) changed from 'ON' to 'OFF' at 2002/09/20 10:17:26 09/15/2002 12:38 dlwarf@p 13:InputSyncDetect,13:ReaderReset: Ongoing problem. 09/03/2002 12:20 Dave I have (rather belatedly) disabled my cron job that daily updated the SMP SxC databases at GOJ and LMJ, and generated a lookup list of fish detection histories for the NMFS RAPH release. The SMP SxC separation activities have been on hiatus since June, and collection of RAPH fish at B2J was terminated sometime before July 1. 08/17/2002 08:57 darren@p D2:InputSyncDetect,D2:ReaderReset: Alarm generated by a random reader reset. 08/16/2002 08:19 scottl@p 11:ReaderReset,12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,13:InputSyncDetect,13:Rea derReset,21:ReaderReset,22:InputSyncDetect,22:ReaderReset,23:InputSyncDete ct,23:ReaderReset,51:ReaderReset,52:InputSyncDetect,52:ReaderReset,53:Inpu tSyncDetect,53:ReaderReset,91:ReaderReset,92:InputSyncDetect,92:ReaderRese t,93:InputSyncDetect,93:ReaderReset,A1:ReaderReset,A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:R eaderReset,B1:ReaderReset,B2:InputSyncDetect,B2:ReaderReset,C1:ReaderReset ,C2:InputSyncDetect,C2:ReaderReset,C3:InputSyncDetect,C3:ReaderReset,C4:In putSyncDetect,C4:ReaderReset,D1:ReaderReset,D2:InputSyncDetect,D2:ReaderRe set,D3:InputSyncDetect,D3:ReaderReset: Alarms were generated by a power outage. Kent Levins called me back at 9:40 and explained that they had discovered this morning that there was a plugged filter on the main compressor that was restricting air flow. The entire system was down from 8:00 until 8:10 at which time they went to their back compressor which ran the sample gate only. The Slide gate system was down from 8:00 until 8:30. The system is now back on the main compressor and has been tested for operation. 07/27/2002 08:28 darren@p 23:TestTagFailure: It appears that this test tag may failed. It will be replaced on the next site visit. The transceiver is operating normally. 07/23/2002 09:35 darren@p C3:TestTagFailure: Test tag did fire but a pittag was seen in between the time it said to fire and it actually did fire. 07/15/2002 15:24 darren@p 12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset: Random reader reset. This is an ongoing phenomenon. 06/21/2002 11:39 Scott_Li The B-Slide was repaired at ~ 1100 am PST, 6/20/02. Per Mike Halter, debree was caught in the gate preventing it from opening. 06/20/2002 11:59 Scott_Li The DGE report indicated that the B-Slide gate efficiency was at 25%. Called Mike Halter at 10:10 am at the facility and advised him on what to look for and actions to take in order to restore diversion on this gate. A solenoid valve was replaced yesterday to fix this same problem but appearently was not a long term fix.In the interum, Mike indicated that they would shut down the B side flume and route all fish through the A side until the gate was repaired. I asked Mike to keep us informed of the progress and to call with any question they may have. Not sure what kind of response time we will get as he indicated that everyone was extremely busy... More soon. 06/19/2002 11:23 Scott_Li Mike Halter called and indicated that the B-slide Gate had faulty solenoid valve. The valve was replaced and the gate was returned to normal operation at ~10:10 PST. Will monitor gate perfromance to ensure of the repair that was made. 06/19/2002 10:42 Scott_Li The DGE report indicated that the B-side slide gate had malfunctioned for some reason and was only running at 30% efficiency. Mike Halter indicated that the gate controls seemed to be working but the gate was not opening indicating a possable mechanical failure of some sort. As a stop gap measure until a repair could be made, the b-side flume at the separator was dewatered at ~ 9:35 PST. All fish exiting the separator will transit via the A slide-gate again until the repair can be made. Mike to report to PTOC when repair has been made. 06/17/2002 07:20 scottl@p 12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,SLC500:CommsFailure: 12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,SLC500:CommsFailure: Reader reset acknoledged. The SLC comms failure was probably due to a message being sent from the PLC about the same time that Dave was changing the database file, Multimon out of run mode. 06/17/2002 07:20 scottl@p 12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,SLC500:CommsFailure: Reader reset acknoledged. The SLC comms failure was probably due to a message being sent from the PLC about the same time that Dave was changing the database file, Multimon out of run mode. 06/14/2002 15:50 Dave I updated the database to GRJ02165.DB today. This includes 12,579 new LYFE-2 (AC 87) codes. These are Lyon's Ferry ocean-type fall chinook released above LGR by the Nez Perce tribe. U of I has the NPT's permission to sample these fish periodically over the next two months. I replaced the existing GRJ02148.MAP file with a new file, GRJ02165.DB. This is a significantly different map file. I removed the 20+ existing SP7 DU definitions, and added eight new SP7 DUs for U of I's eight sample periods. Because I essentially replaced previously-defined DU's, I had to both back out the existing map file AND set the counters to 0. I saved copies of the counter files, for possible diagnostics, prior to resetting the counters. The new map file also addresses the previous deficiency that resulted in numerous 'BadAC' messages. All Action Codes at all monitors are now fully and properly documented, regardless of their diversion status. Finally, I resynched both computer clocks (with Multimon OUT of data collection and port communication mode); both clocks are within 2 seconds of "real" time. 06/13/2002 09:51 Dave Looks like a power outage at GRJ yesterday (6/10). Looking at the contents of GRJ02161.103, I see we lost the input sync at 16:33:24. It looks like we ran on the UPS until sometime after 17:30:01, when the computer died (and the file is truncated). File GRJ02161.104 starts at 17:37:10 when power was restored, so we were out a maximum of seven minutes. If the lost sync message indicates the loss of power, then it appears the UPS will keep two PCs up and running for just under an hour. I will manually terminate the GRJ02161.103 file (without reloading it), in order to define and develop an automated process. 06/12/2002 08:20 darren@p A2:InputSyncLost: I can't find a cause for the sync loss. I will check further into the "raw" files to find out if there was a reader reset on A1. For some reason the file closed at 17:30. This may have been caused by a power outage. This I can confirm through the event log. 06/11/2002 09:39 Scott_Li PCA'd to the primary computer and manually sent data files with no problems. Returned Multimon to full dos box , PTTP was in the background and running , no appearent reason for the site not load. 06/10/2002 10:16 Dave The duration of the power outage previously reported can be derived from the raw data records in GRJ02161.101, excerpted below. Coil activity was last reported at 3:52:39 PST (prior to the outage) and PLC activity was recorded at 4:30:52 (subsequent to the outage), followed by transceiver resets at 4:30:57. The PIT tag computers, on UPS power, bridged the facility outage. |1A 93 02/06/10 03:52:39 3D9.1BF12609B2 NOTFound| 24877 02/06/10 04:00:01 02/06/10 04:15:01 02/06/10 04:30:01 *SBYC ENABLE OFF 02/06/10 04:30:52 *SBYC ENABLE ON 02/06/10 04:30:52 $A1 MESSAGE: Reader reset! 02/06/10 04:30:57 06/10/2002 10:02 scottl@p 11:ReaderReset,12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,13:InputSyncDetect,13:Rea derReset,21:ReaderReset,22:InputSyncDetect,22:ReaderReset,23:InputSyncDete ct,23:ReaderReset,51:ReaderReset,52:InputSyncDetect,52:ReaderReset,53:Inpu tSyncDetect,53:ReaderReset,91:ReaderReset,92:InputSyncDetect,92:ReaderRese t,93:InputSyncDetect,93:ReaderReset,A1:ReaderReset,A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:R eaderReset,B1:ReaderReset,B2:InputSyncDetect,B2:ReaderReset,C1:ReaderReset ,C2:InputSyncDetect,C2:ReaderReset,C3:InputSyncDetect,C3:ReaderReset,C4:In putSyncDetect,C4:ReaderReset,D1:ReaderReset,D2:InputSyncDetect,D2:ReaderRe set,D3:InputSyncDetect,D3:ReaderReset: Confirmed with SMP personell at the site, a power outage took place at 0400 hr pst 8/10/02 and lasted for ~ 30 to 35 Min. Also the power may be off again at 1900 hrs due to work being done at the power house. SMP was not sure if this was going to happen but heard that it may. 06/09/2002 07:06 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: The SLC Comms failure, was not a failure but may have been caused by the PLC waiting for a response to an action and then timing out although the action was carried out and the fish was diverted. 05/29/2002 08:28 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: Although there was an alarm. The pittag in question was diverted. We often get an occasional SLC Comms failure when there are high numbers across the separator coils. 05/28/2002 12:53 Dave Updated database and map files to GRJ02148.DB and .MAP, respectively. Database contains an additional 22 FPC-WC tags (AC-16) , and 150k LYFEFC (Lyons Ferry Fall Chinook) tags (AC-86). Map file contains instructions to divert 1/5 (20%) of those LYFEFC, and transport the remaining 80%. 05/25/2002 09:09 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: The PLC may be waiting for a response but is still operating and diverting fish. The message is only seen when the volume of fish increases over the separator. I will have this checked out next site visit. 05/22/2002 10:05 Dave Updated database to GRJ02141.DB, incorporating 140 additional CSS-WC (AC-16) tags. Verified that clocks on primary and backup computers are within three seconds of each other and 42 seconds of "real" time. 05/20/2002 10:23 darren@p A1:TestTagFailure,SLC500:CommsFailure: Test tag failed because of pittags in the feild. It was posted to Multimon but came up as not being seen. The SLC Comms failure is probably being caused by the amount of pittags coming across the separator. The tags are being diverted I think that the messaging is from the PLC waiting for a response but the gate is already activated again. We will look at this on the next site visit. 05/20/2002 07:42 Dave Updated database to GRJ02139.DB. This version contains 608 fewer CSS-WC (AC-16) tags than previous version, per IDFG. Subsequent databases at GOJ and LMJ will also reflect this decrease in the Wild Chinook group. 05/15/2002 08:29 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: Even though there was a SLC Comms failure pittags are being diverted to there proper paths. 05/15/2002 08:05 Darren_C A General Site Maintenance check was performed. Gates were checked for timing and separator coils were checked for efficiencies. 05/13/2002 14:41 Dave Updated database to GRJ02133.DB. This database contains 47 additional wild Chinook (AC-16) for the Comparative Survival Study. Also updated map to GRJ02133.MAP. This map contains an additional SbyC instruction set to divert and collect NMFS' RAPH chinook (AC-31) for 24 hours starting at 5:00AM (PST) on May 16. 05/13/2002 08:35 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: All diversions are taking place. The SLC Comms failure could be a glitch in the PLC communications. 05/07/2002 11:38 Dave Updated database to GRJ02127.DB, containing additional CSS Wild Chinook (AC-16) tags. PC1 and PC2 clocks are within 12 seconds of each other and 1:10 of "real" time. 05/06/2002 11:13 Don_Warf Set the file submission frequency to upload 4 times per day. Checked and set clocks. Set About Time to run in the system tray at the Minimon sites. 05/04/2002 10:35 Dave Looks like another power outage from 17:41:59 to 18:26:13 (PST) yesterday, May 3. The computers stayed up on UPS backup power until 18:00:01 or so. 05/03/2002 11:51 Dave There was a power outage from ~5:03 AM (PST) until 7:12 AM. There was no PIT tag detection activity during this interval, although the data collection computers, running on battery backup, continued operation until ~6:15 AM. 05/03/2002 10:43 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: Alarm was Glitch. Although it said there was a SLC Comms failure the fish was diverted to the proper path. 05/03/2002 10:18 Darren_C Yesterday UPS's were put in-line for both PC's. 05/03/2002 10:08 Darren_C Files are set to 4 per day on PC1 and PC2. 05/02/2002 10:58 Dave Updated database to GRJ02122.DB, containing 92 additional FPC-WC (AC-16) tags. Verified that PC1 and PC2 clocks were within 5 seconds of each other, and within 1 minute of NIST standard. 05/02/2002 09:38 Dave Programmatically added "CLOSE" tags to truncated data file GRJ02120.105 and reloaded this file to PTAGIS database. 05/01/2002 18:41 Dave Responded to persistent notifications of missing data files. Found both PC1 and PC2 at GRA and GRJ as expected; Multimon minimized and PTTP unloaded, due to the power outage at 1:17PM (PDT) yesterday, 4/30. Invoked PTTP on both GRA-PC1 and GRJ-PC1; uploaded nine outstanding files per site. Set Multimon to full-screen on all four machines. 04/30/2002 13:44 John & Dave Fred Mensik notified us that the entire LGR project lost power at 1:27 PM. The circuit breaker tripped on Turbine Unit #1. Station power, via TU #6, was restored at 5:38 PM (all times in PDT). All other turbine units remain offline. 04/30/2002 09:42 dlwarf@p SLC500:CommsFailure: Will check on the next general maint. visit. 04/26/2002 09:35 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: The alarm may be caused by the installation of the AIC card in the pittag room and the way the jumpers are popsitioned in the PLC panel. I will discuss this with Don and find a solution. The fish are being diverted as instructed. 04/23/2002 12:50 Dave I updated the databases at GRJ, GOJ, and LMJ with GRJ02113.DB, GOJ02113.DB, and LMJ02113.DB, respectively. I added 7643 AC-16 codes (CSS-WC) to the GRJ database; these same codes were added to the GOJ and LMJ databases as either AC-16 or AC-26, depending on prior detection history. All hatchery CSS action codes (11-15) in the GOJ and LMJ were adjusted as necessary to reflect their prior detection history. I also updated the map file at LMJ to LMJ02113.DB, as requested. Tags from Action Code 81 (LGR-WC) will be transported at a ratio of 4::1 (80% transport), if and when collection and transportation resume at Lower Monumental. The previous LGR-WC transport::bypass ratio was 1::1 (50% transport). 04/22/2002 08:28 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: No direct cause for the alarm. Will monitor site for further alarms. 04/21/2002 10:12 dlwarf@p SLC500:CommsFailure: Will watch for further occurances. 04/19/2002 09:25 Dave I updated the SbyC config file to GRJ02109.MAP. I increased the daily limit from 200 to 220 for the NMFS transportation group (AC-31), per Lyle Gilbreath's request. This limit increase will be effective with tomorrow's collection (4/20/02) and for the 12 subsequent samples. 04/15/2002 13:57 Dave I updated the database to GRJ02105.DB. This version contains 314 additional CSS Wild Chinook (AC-16). 04/15/2002 09:45 Dave On Friday, 4/12, I updated the Multimon GRJ configuration file (GRJ02102.MAP) to selectively divert certain tagged fish to the PIT tag sample tank at the east end of the collection facility. This SbyC subsampling is specific to Multimon Action Codes 11-13 and 31; the schedule and collection limits are documented in the SbyC Action Code summary for the site, and are available through the PTOC O&M web page. The first subsample is scheduled to commence tomorrow (4/16) at 05:00 AM PST. 04/12/2002 08:59 Darren_C A General Maintenance Check was performed on sites Monday (4-8-02). Sticks were passed through separator coils to check efficiencies and gate timing. A timer tag was replaced on coil A4 at GOJ. The ignor.tag file was updated to reflect the new timer tag. 04/09/2002 09:56 Dave Updated PC1 database with GRJ02099.DB, containing an additional 4735 CSS Wild Chinook (AC-16). I had to have Doug Ross (SMP) reboot GRJ-PC1 so I could pcA into it. I was able to pcA into GRJ-PC2, but lost (and have so far, blocked) the connection when I attempted to upload the database file. GRJ-PC2 was still in data collection mode using the prior database file (GRJ02092.DB) when I lost the connection. 04/09/2002 08:06 scottl@p 93:InputSyncDetect,93:InputSyncLost,93:LowExcCurrent: Looks as if maintenence was the caus eof the alarm. 04/09/2002 08:06 scottl@p 92:InputSyncDetect,92:InputSyncLost,92:LowExcCurrent,92:TestTagFailure: Looks as if maintenence was the cause of the alarm. 04/08/2002 13:56 Dave I pcA'd into GRJ-PC2 and resynced data collection and file uploads. I was unable to connect to GRJ-PC1, however. I finally contacted Doug Ross (LGR-SMP) and asked him to manually close and re-open the data file on GRJ-PC1, and it is now resynced as well. 04/02/2002 15:19 Dave Updated GRJ with new map and db files (GRJ02092). New database contains 42 additional FPC-WC codes (AC-16) and the revised AC-255 list (7908 codes). The new map file corrects BAD_AC messages resulting from a lack of AC definitions at the Charlie coils (SbyC 2-way gate). Currently we are monitoring all real fish (vs. stick) Action Codes at the 2-way gate. I created a new DU with SP0 for Action Codes 11-16 and 31. I didn't monitor these definitions through the existing SP2 DU for the 2-way gate, as SP2 will supersede the SP6 and SP7 protocols that will ultimately be defined for many of these ACs. The BAD_AC messages from the previous map were associated with monitoring events, rather than gate operations. SbyC was not affected. 03/28/2002 08:42 darren@p 51:ReaderReset,52:InputSyncDetect,52:InputSyncLost,D2:InputSyncDetect,D2:R eaderReset: Alarms were generated by a random reader reset. This problem is still being addressed by PTOC personnel. 03/27/2002 12:13 Dave Site appears to have lost power at ~8:30pm last night; rebooted 8 minutes later. pcA'd in today and invoked PTTP. Manually uploaded queued files. 03/26/2002 08:50 Dave Updated both GRJ computers with new database GRJ02085.DB, which contains 18 additional codes for CSS-WC (AC-16). Also created \multimon\pc1data directory on GRJ-PC2, necessary to create and collect data files in the event of a catastrophic failure that results in the loss of the default.cfg file. 03/25/2002 17:09 Dave I made the following modifications to the Multimon installation at GRJ today (March 25). 1) Marked 10 test tags (sticks) with electricians tape to identify them as "GRJTST" sticks. 2) Modified the GRJ-GN8.DB database and changed the Action Code from 255 to 251 for the ten sticks. 3) Modified the GRJ-GN8.MAP file to include definitions for the GRJTST group (AC-251). This group behaves identically to the AC-255 group in all Diversion Units EXCEPT that the AC-251 tags will be diverted RIGHT at the 3-Way SbyC Gate, while AC-255 tags are diverted to the LEFT. 4) Created an AC-251.db database with 10 tags, and uploaded it to the Multimon FTP Site_Configurations directory. Modified the existing AC- 255.db database resident at the Multimon FTP site, removing the 10 tags now in AC-251.db. 5) Created a new database, GRJ02084.DB, containing Action Codes 11-16, 31, 251, and 255. Action Codes 11-16 pertain to five hatchery chinook and one wild chinook groups for the CSS study; Action Code 31 contains ~129k tags for the NMFS RAPH study. 6) Created a new map file GRJ02084.MAP. This map monitors the detection of all the Action Codes identified above. It also diverts 1 of 3 (transports 2 of 3) CSS hatchery chinook groups, and diverts half (transports half) of the CSS wild chinook group. 7) Downloaded and installed AboutTime on GRJ-Util. Manually synced both data collection PCs with the real world. 03/21/2002 09:31 darren@p 11:TestTagFailure,13:TestTagFailure,92:TestTagFailure,A2:TestTagFailure,B2 :TestTagFailure,C3:TestTagFailure,D2:TestTagFailure,D3:TestTagFailure: The alarms were generated while performing Pre-season site tuning. The gates were timed and all monitors except for the Sample Tank were tested with sticks by PSMFC personnel. The buffers were cleared and all timer tags were fired before leaving the site. The site will begin collection on Monday 3-25-02 as per Mike Halter. 03/20/2002 14:02 scott Watered up site , timed A & B Separator gates and 2-way SByC gate. All gates diverted 100 percent of the stick tags tested. Checked efficencies on East/West Raceway monitors. Sample monitor could not be tested do to facility was not ready to accomodate for any fish that may have been inadvertently sent to the sample room tanks. The Sample Gate was not timed for the Divert during Sample functions for the above reason. See below for complete Stick Tag test results. Pittag monitors have been optimized for maximum reading efficiencies. This problem is being addressed by PTOC personnel. 03/06/2002 10:03 Scott_Li Site interrogation computers have been stripped of clutter within the Multimon and its subdirectories. Multimon ver 8.02 has been loaded along with the Generic HW, Map and DB files. The new naming convention for these default config. files will be < sitecode >- GN8.HW1 or appropriate extention. The 8 refers to Multimon Ver 8.02. The Sites are online creating 8 files per day and submitting files 8 times per day. All generic files that have been recreated have been uploaded to the PSMFC FTP server for storage. One note, Hardware files are being completely regenerated and saved with the 8.02 format. Dave Marvin is creating the 8.02 Map files. For GRA, facility funtionality was completely evaluated for diversion gate control, Timer tags ISO/400 all were successfully fired. The adult trap was watered up on March 4th at ~10 am. 02/26/2002 16:17 Dave I modified the etc/sites file and removed the third parameter ([site]sun). This was apparently defeating the file-check process. Warnings will now be posted if the site has not been heard from in more than six(?) hours. ####End of Event Log for GRJ###
