The separator operator exercized the sample gate while I made adjustments to the soft close valve. The gates were then tested and found in good working order. Fortuitously, an AC-85 tag came through as soon as the new configuration was in place, and I verified that the fish was correctly diverted at the Separator Gate, ignored at the SbyC Gate, and detected on the return to river antenna group. The computers had drifted a couple of minutes from atomic time. I reset them to within a second of each other and atomic time. The fiber and internal modem of the transciever were tested as well as the patch panel jumper inside the PIT tag room. No problems with these components so the transicever was replaced and tested. No "EOT Errors" occured after the transceiver was replced. The rest of the transceivers were checked for tuning and noise. No test sticks were passed through the separator monitors. The PC clocks were checked and were within 14 seconds of each other and 20 seconds of atomic time. According to Lin Ming at Little Goose Dam he received and e-mail yesterday that stated because of a severe storm in Walla Walla there was some damage to a 4 ton Air Conditioning unit at the district office and that the communications would be down until Monday, probably Tuesday because of the Holiday. I will have to verify all platforms with the help of site personnel as best I can. All transceivers were checked for tune and no problems were found. The 2 and 3 way gates were tested and found to be in good working order. The East Raceways are de-watered so the East Raceway Gate was not tested. The facility is in 100% sample so no sticks were thrown. PC1 is 35 seconds behind atomic time and PC2 is 27 seconds behind atomic time. No problems to report. 07/19/2007 11:44 Darren PSMFC was on site to replace transceiver 72 which had failed after one of the many power outages that the facility has had in the last couple of days. The unit was replaced and bi-directional communications were tested. 07/19/2007 08:27 Troy Remotely check gate sensor counters in response to a gate failure alarm email received from GRJ which the facility cleared. It appears that A gate received a 'Stuck Open' alarm which generally occurs when there are fluctuations in the air pressure causing the 'soft close' to stick. All appears to be well now. It turns out that A gate was banging after a sample. The cause of this banging is most likely a small leak in the system somewhere. With samples being on as long as they are now, A gate creeps from it's normal open distance to fully open which throws off the travel close time. In comparison B gate remains at it's normal open distance the entire sample. I replaced the 3-way solenoid hoping the leak was there and it was not. I tightened the port at the end of the cylinder and this did not stop it either. I band-aided it by loosening up the soft close/open regulator so the gate would soft close more freely. I reported to the site bio that if the banging comes back that the cylinder should be replaced as it is most likely the cause. If replacing the cylinder doesn't cure the problem then someone will have to check each pnumatic fitting and look for a very small leak. No times were adjusted and sticks were not thrown on A or B gate as no one was availble to help me catch the sticks, the 2-way gate has the air shut off and there is no water in the SbyC tanks. I was able to throw sticks on E gate and the results are as follows: 11 24/25 12 24/25 31 25/25 32 25/25 E gate's soft close/open regulator was adjusted as it was not allowing the gate to fully close and would bang when the RTO cycle ended. From the PLC messages, power was lost at 16:29:45. The computers stayed up on UPS battery backup until sometime after 16:45 and then died. (Similar messages from GRA, where the UPS provided complete backup and bridged the outage, indicate that the GRJ computers were down for about a minute.) E gate's timing was worked on as the double slam times seemed to be off and it experienced several trouble lights last night trying to carry the load of A gate due to A gate not opening. A gate was adjusted as well as it was starting to 'tap' on the close cycle. E gate was banging open so the travel open was reduced. The following are the new gate times. The circumstances were, several diversion at A and B gate, Sample being on (worst case scenario) and normal flow. All sticks were diverted properly. The stick tag test results are as follows: 11 39/40 12 37/40 31 40/40 32 40/40 NMFS is going to drain raceway 10 each morning to see if we are getting too much by-catch. If not we will increase the time open more if we continue to miss fish on E gate. E Gate was inspected thoroughly and I could not find a obvious reason for the number of sensor 2 and sensor 1 misses. The sensors are solidly mounted and the flag appears to be solid. It could be the sensor distance from the PLC or program latency but there is no easy way to prove that. For the time being the number of 'missed' sensor required to trigger a gate problem have been increased for E Gate and will remain that way until further notice. The PC clocks were reset to within 1 second of each other and atomic time. 04/12/2007 11:57 Troy At the site 4/12/2007 to investigate the poor efficiencies on the sample gate. Upon my arrival site personnel reported the sample gate had been sticking in the sample position after a sample and the SMP operator would have to tap the gate with a net handle to get it to return to the open position. COE mechanics had adjusted the alignment and adjusted the air pressure prior to my arrival. The gate is working properly now. I also investigated the E gate as it had a trouble light earlier in the week. There is no apperant cause for the trouble light. I could not cycle the gate due to the facility being in bypass mode. I checked that all the sensors were picking up the flag and all appears to be ok. This was done to test if they could successfully route the fish to the river, collect samples and still de- water the east raceway due to leaks. Once they proved that this was a succes A and B gates were put back into operation until the following morning. On 3/28/2007 the A and B gates air was shut off and the gates manually forced open from 8am to 2pm. This was again done on 3/29/2007 from 8am to 1:30pm. While the gates were in this condition attempts to dry up the leak were made. This morning the gate trouble lights were cleared by the SMP operator. PSMFC will monitor for future trouble lights. I revised their GRA-GEN.MAP file to insert all gate control DU's at the top of the map (for improved performance). I discovered and corrected errors in the gate delays for antennas D1 and D2 (the actual antennas had "migrated" from their old D2/D3 positions, but the gate delays had not). Per Scott and Troy's instructions, I added a new manual gate definition #6 for E10_GATE to the HW1 and HW2 hardware files. (The E10_GATE label is only used to echo the results of the manual toggle operation in MultiMon; it is not used for any PTAGIS audit operations.) I re-enabled data file submission to PTAGIS. The gap in files prior to March 22 is inconsequential; the facility is OOS. Following the installation of the generic configuration files, I replaced them with the first production SxC files. I installed a new map and database file in order to identify and collected specific NMFS fish five days per week. I modified the hardware files to reset counters at 0600 rather than midnight; this is necessary to accommodate NMFS' weekly collection schedule. The PC clocks are within one second of each other and atomic time. The MultiMon platform is ready to go when the facility waters up at 0700 (PDT) on March 25. Per instructions from Don, I shut off transceiver D2, to suppress the overrun messages being generated from that transceiver. Kennewick staff will address this on March 26. No PIT-tagged fish should be routed through D1/D2 until Tuesday, MArch 27, at the earliest. 03/23/2007 12:01 Don_Warf Antenna D2 was reported to be in constant overrun and was turned off. These alarms appear to be the result of a power outage. 03/21/2007 17:25 Dave Updated the GRJ timer tag list, using the ignor.tag file recently revised by Scott and Troy. 03/21/2007 15:11 Troy Three new monitors were added and a new diversion gate. The below outlines the modifications to the facility. The east raceway monitor (11,12,13) was reduced from a 3 coil monitor to a 2 coil monitor (11,12) and becomes the diversion coils for the new slide gate named E Gate. The river exit monitor (91,92,93) was reduced from a 3 coil monitor to a 2 coil monitor (91,92). The SbyC monitor (D1,D2,D3) was reduced from a 3 coil monitor to a 2 coil monitor (D1,D2). The previous D1 coil was abandoned. The previous D3 coil is now D2 and the previous D2 coil is now D1. The C coils 'SByC Diversion Gate' were reduced from a 4 coil monitor (C1,C2,C3,C4) to a 2 coil monitor (C1,C2). The previous C3,C4 are now tied to a new monitor 'Raceway 10' and now have coil ID's of 31,32. The previous 93 is now 81 and a new tranceiver with the coil ID of 82. Both are tied to a new monitor 'Diversion River Exit' The previous D3 is now D1, D2 was move one can over. The previous D1 is now 72 and the previous 13 moved and renamed 71. Both are tied to a new monitor named 'East Raceway'.Anti slam sensors and logic was added to the A,B and E gates in order to prevent slamming. A new mode switch was added in order control the disposition of the flipper gate and allow the slide gate to divert fish when in marking mode. All gates will be timed and system will be opyimized on Monday 26th when water is channeled over the separator. 03/13/2007 16:05 Dave I updated the existing site configuration #140, renaming the array (monitor) for antennas 11 & 12 from RCWY-10 DIVERSION to RCWY-10 GATE. I also updated the "controller" ID values for the new 31, 32, 71, and 72 antennas from "XX" to match the individual antenna IDs. This is per the relatively new convention of providing antenna/transceiver ID pairs, rather than trying to verify and maintain the RocketPort ID associated with each antenna. 03/13/2007 10:01 Dave I've re-activated the GRJ definition in etc/sites, reset the notification group to the entire ptagis staff, and deactivated site-checking until construction is completed and the site is ready to water-up. 03/09/2007 13:06 Dave Yesterday, March 8, I modified the GRJ site configuration to revision 140. The revised configuration has the following modifications. 1) I renamed the RACEWAY EAST/RIVER EXIT monitor to RCWY-10 DIVERSION, and changed the 'Exit' attribute to "N". 2) I added new RACEWAY EAST, EAST RACEWAY 10, and BYPASS RIVER EXIT monitors. 3) I deleted antennas 13, C3 & C4, D3, and 93. 4) I added antennas 71 & 72 (RACEWAY EAST), 81 & 82 (BYPASS RIVER EXIT), and 31 & 32 (EAST RACEWAY 10). The antennas referenced in (3) above are still active, and we have been receiving timer tag data from them, resulting in NET-ANOM errors in our FDL process. I attempted unsuccessfully to pcA into GRJ-PC1 to disable file uploads (although I WAS able to pcA into GRJ-PC2).
