No further issues exist. 07/05/2011 11:48 Darren A site GMC was performed today (7-5-11). All transceivers were checked for tuning and noise. 10 test sticks were passed through the separator monitors with 100% detection and diversion. The PC clocks are within 1 second of atomic time and each other, the files on PC2 were archived. No problems were discovered during this visit. 07/01/2011 12:48 Troy At the site on 07/01/2011 to try and figure out the problem seen 06/30/2011. I initially passed 5 sticks across C2 coil two times. The first stick I passed was ready into MM but a divert request never made it to the PLC. On every subsiquent tag the stick was read into MM and the divert request made it to the PLC....? For good measure PC1 was shutdown to allow PC2 to take over diversion. 5 sticks across C1 and C2 (two times) were read and a diversion event took place. 10 sticks were passed through the pipe using only PC2 and all were diverted to the 3-Way. PC1 was brought back online and 20 sticks were thrown on A and B gates. All were read and all were diverted. The same 20 sticks were then thrown on the SbyC gates, all were read and all were diverted by the 2-Way. The 3-Way still misses about one out of 10 sticks (this was documented earlier this year). It looks like the events of 06/30/2011 are not repeatable at this time. All the equipment was thourougly tested. In lieu of the A-Gate missing sensor 2, a visual observation of the A-Gate sensors in relationship to the detection flag indicated that the flag was possibly to far from the sensors allowing such factors a vibration and water on the flag to cause the sensors to 'chatter' especially on sensor 2. Moved the entire sensor bank from the South side to the North side of the flume so that the sensor beams were closer to the detection flag and shimmed the sensor bracket to better align sensors with the center of the detection flag. Thorough testing was performed and will monitor for false alarms. Stick tested the 3-way gate. Found in some instances the gate was abit late and others the gate abit early. Reduced the flush water by 1 notch and retested. Gate successfully diverted 50 of 60 sticks at the lower flush water setting. There is no delay before operate time left in the PLC, but Multimon has 600mS on coil D1 and 475mS on D2. The flush water was returned to the original setting per the Separator Operator request. If and when a researcher requests to use this 3-way gate, timing adjustments can be made in Multimon if necessary and the two upper coils could be used to allow even more time. PC1 is 5 seconds ahead of PC2. I found a separator operator that helped me trouble shoot the 3 way gate while I watched. 4 different test were ran. Test 1 Sticks 1-5 every 30 seconds 1 was not read 1 missed Stick 6-10 every 60 seconds 1 was missed. Test 2 Adjusted Delay Op to 2 and Time Open to 125 (from 3 and 120) 2 sticks were missed Test 3 Adjusted Time Open to 130 2 sticks were missed Test 4 Adjusted Delay op to 0 2 sticks were missed Any more delay will have to be taken out of MM or they will have to adjust some water levels or flows. By the 3rd test I was able to get myself into a position to see that the sticks that were being missed were do to too much delay. For some reason on those sticks there was more water and the stick was traveling faster. We tried to correlate fish being diverted at the separator with missed fish but it only correlated once. PSMFC will mention to NMFS via email that they should check to see if fish are being put in the wrong tank when and if they do an SbyC study. If it becomes an issue more resources will be put into this issue. 04/28/2011 11:30 Troy A site GMC was performed 04/28/2011. All transceivers were checked for tune and adjustments made where needed. 10 sticks were thrown on A and B gates and the SbyC gates. The 3 way failed to divert 4 of the 10 even though all sticks were read on all coils. I tried to run a quick test, I numbered 10 sticks 1-10 and threw them 1-10. 1 and 2 were missed. I then threw them 10-1 and 10 and 9 were missed. However on the report D1 and D2 read 18 of 20 so with out further research which time does not allow at the moment it is hard to decipher what the results of the test mean. If time allows and personnel are available on the next site visit, the cover for the 3-way should be removed and diversions watched. Sensor 2 on A gate is being missed again, no apparent reason for this. The counters were cleared. A slight adjustment on B gates soft close regulator was required due to an occasional "time out" bang. PC1 is 16 seconds behind atomic time and PC2 is 19 seconds behind atomic time.
