EVENT LOG FOR SITE 7_GRX Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time & who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Date Time Who What -------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 11/08/96 09:03 scottl The interrogation equipment for this site has been turned off for the season as of 11/6/96. 11/04/96 11:26 dlwarf The site was put into full bypass on 10/31/96 at 7:00am. 09/17/96 08:30 dlwarf IDI controller not communicating with the PCs. Rebooting PCs and then turning on the IDI controller was the only sequence that would establish communications. 08/30/96 16:09 scottl The new version of multimon.exe 3.27 has been remotely loaded and is operating. All is well. Air to the gates has been turned off. 08/27/96 17:13 scottl Coils 80,82,84,86( diversion river monitor) was down due to problems with the multimon data collection software. Apparently the last upgrade to Multimon has problems recieving data from the serial port #2 which is associated with the above coils. Will let Gordon Anderson know about this in order to correct the problem. This was verified by loading an older version of Multimon and tested O.K. 08/27/96 17:13 scottl Coils 80,82,84,86( diversion river monitor) was down due to problems with the multimon data collection software. Will let Gordon Anderson know about this in order to correct the problem. This was verified by loading an older version of Multimon and tested O.K. 08/22/96 17:01 scottl The IDI controller for the river release tunnel is not functioning. The facility is not being used by any agencies at this time per Sandy Downing. Will correct problem on the next scheduled visit. 08/21/96 07:18 scottl The old efficiency report indicated that coils 80,82,84,86 where not operating. This was confirmed with the timer tags reports. Called SMP (pete) and left a message to cycle power on the controllers in order to return them to operation. Will follow up. 08/21/96 07:18 scottl The old efficiency report indicated that coils 80,82,84,86 where not operating. This was confirmed with the timer tags reports. Called SMP (pete) and left a message to cycle power on the controllers in order to return them to operation. Will follow up. 08/16/96 16:29 dlwarf A visual inspection found the exciter for coils 84,86 to be dead. replaced exciter to correct the problem. 08/07/96 08:40 dlwarf Modem line was found unplugged from wall by Smolt Monitoring personel at 11:45am on 8/6/96. 08/02/96 17:28 carters Telecommunication problems today. Can gain connection to modem, but modem drops line soon after connection is established. We have seen this during rainy periods -- and it IS rainy today... Will check status on Monday, 8/5/96. If comm still down, will contact US West for service. 07/31/96 10:08 dlwarf Found coils 70 and 72 down due to corrosion between terminals at the exciter. Ajusted amperage on all coils to improve efficiency. 07/17/96 08:54 dlwarf Site was fired up yesterday by NMFS. General maintenance check found no problems. 07/09/96 14:11 scottl Contacted Sandy Downing (NMFS) about the state of the diversion gates. After some inquiring, it was suggested that I contact Pete at the juvinlie site to find if he knew of any agency using this system. He indicated that. NBS was using the facility at one time but not at the present. It was decided that the gates should be disable and the holding tank be drained to release any fish that may have been trapped there. 07/03/96 08:19 scottl General maintenence check found no problems. The diversions gates have been enabled by the researcher using this facility. 06/17/96 21:34 scottl The Old Efficiency report indicated below normal efficiencies at the Diversion river gate monitor, coils 70,72 . Replaced exciter for these coils to improve efficiency. The collection computer PC2 has an invalid path during boot up after being powered down. The error relates to the path given for the Tag File and requires input from the keyboard to continue. Will contact Sandy Downing for information on correcting the problem. PC2 is the backup machine. 06/05/96 16:36 scottl General maintenence check found no problems. 06/04/96 16:13 dlwarf Review of efficiency reports show no problems at site. 05/21/96 07:56 scottl This entry is for work done on 5/21. Found signal return wire at reader card for coil 76 not connected. fixed problem, timer tags for coil 76 fired ok. 05/19/96 20:15 scottl 5/18 report indicated that the GPIB controller for coils 74,76, 94,96 was not working. Called Smolt monitoring personnel ( Doug ), and asked him to reset all the controllers. 5/19 report showed the controller was operating again. Coil 76 is low in efficiency and is probably exciter related. 05/16/96 12:41 carters On Monday, 5/16/96 a UPS was added to the Sparc 5 at GRX. Also the latest version of multimon (v3.12) was installed. This version allows files to be closed on command. Today, (Thursday, 5/16/96) the process_grx_data.sh script was changed to close the grx files once every four hours, zip the data and send it as a MULTIMON file to pitdata for processing. 05/15/96 09:16 scottl Replaced video card in PC2 and loaded multimon, ver 3.14. Reconfigured setup parms per Sandy Downing's instructions. 05/14/96 07:32 scottl Replaced exciter for coils 70,72. Reseated cards in GPIB controller. all timer tags where firing O.K. Monitor on back up computer not working will correct 5/14. 05/08/96 20:38 carters Sun reboot around 15:02 yesterday (5/7/96). PC1 and PC2 were alive but not NFS connected. Doug Marsh checked machines around 8:15 today and both PC1 and PC2 were waiting for someone to press a button to Abort, Retry or Ignore. Doug said that the Lower Granite experienced a power hit around 15:00 yesterday that explains the reboot. The PC's were looking for an NFS mounted drive D and did not see one so the PC decided to ask the Abort, Retry, Ignore question. 05/03/96 15:19 dlwarf Installed CRC chips in GPIB controllers. Fired timer tags. 04/30/96 14:13 carters PC's were re-booted yesterday and no Authenticat passwords were provided to PC1 or PC2. Hence, no were written to the network drive. Machines were rebooted today with password authentication and was being collected on network drive. However, g were reported not firing so PC1 and PC2 were re- and no authentication passwords were provided, h data collection on network drive. Gates seem to System will operate in this state while NMFS res tries to figure out gate hardware problems. PTAG await further instructions from NMFS. Also, video monitor on PC2 is stll scrambled. 04/30/96 14:12 carters PC's were re-booted yesterday and no Authenticat passwords were provided to PC1 or PC2.
