EVENT LOG FOR SITE JCJ Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time and who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 06/05/2003 10:50 DChase Yesterday all three sites were visited for the purpose of shutting down the Data Collection Platforms as well as the transceivers. I coordinated with Dave Marvin and collected all missing files for these sites. these sites will not be ready to come on line until January 1, 2004. 05/17/2003 11:48 Dave Charlie Strom of the Yakama Nation informed us on Friday (May 16) that they had pushed the last remaining fish out of Jack Creek and Clark Flat acclimation ponds on Thursday, May 15. The last tags were detected in the exit channels at the respective sites on May 16. These sites are done for the year. I've updated the obs_site_dates table and deactivated site polling for CFJ and JCJ in etc/sites. 05/14/2003 09:59 Scott_Li Noticed that the facility had not sent data files during the last 24 hrs. Could not PCA into PC1. Called the facility for assistance and had them re-boot PC1. Was then able to PCA into PC1 and manually send all the data files sitting in the To Be Sent cue. 05/02/2003 10:00 Scott_Li FYI... Per Charlie Stromm, All fish at these facilities are scheduled to be crowded out of the raceway's on May 29th. Obviously we will want to maintain interrogation up until water has been completely drained from the raceway's which should be the 1st or 2nd week in June... 04/04/2003 10:40 Darren_C I was able to shake the system loose with the help of the on site personnel. I had marty try to upload the files but when the upload process was started there was an "General Protection Fault" error that was caused by minimon and then minimon shut itself down. When this happened the file JCJ03094.D was deleted. I tried to get the system started again but another error occurred that said that the .exe was not accessable. I then had to reboot the PC. Minimon came up and was running, then I was able to PC into JCJ. I had marty stop and start PC2 so that the file was created to try and cover the time that PC1 was offline. The files were uploaded except for JCJ03094.D, which will be retrieved on Monday and will be e-mailed to Dave rather than uploaded so there will be no overwritten Data. The time frame is about 14 minutes of lost time. 03/21/2003 14:04 Darren All three sites were visited for maintenance checks. The file generation and submission was changed at all site to reflect this years protocol of 8 files per day uploading 8 times per day with and offset of 120 seconds on the upload. No problems were found outside of what was reported earlier today from JCJ. 03/21/2003 12:08 LIVINGST PC1 was locked up at 11:37 p.m. on 3/16/03. I was not able to free it up to try and close out the existing file all I could was reboot the machine. I copied all files from PC2 that were missing and uploaded them to PTAGIS. I also had to upgrade the starband software because of the autoupdate feature it would have kept asking me if I would like to update the software. The transceivers were looked at for tuning and no problems were found. 03/20/2003 13:35 Dave Enabled site polling in etc/sites file. 03/20/2003 12:21 Don_Warf Site has not been heard from since 3/16. I have verified that the data is being collected on both PC1 and PC2 by talking to Marty at the site. Darren will be at the site tomorrow to troubleshoot the satellite communications and send all archived files. 03/13/2003 08:29 darren@p A1:LowExcCurrent,A2:LowExcCurrent: The current levels on the "A" side monitors dropped to 1.2 and 1.1 amps. The levels did return at 19:00 on 3/11. i spoke with Charlie from the Cle Elum Hatchery and found that there was an issue with a butterfly valve that controls the input flow to the facility. The issue seems to coincide with the low current alarms. It does not appear to water in the monitor because the current returned quickly, it may have been caused by some turbulance it will be checked on the next visit to the facility. They will be pulling boards tomorrow and they are hoping that fish start leaving the facility quickly because of high flow rates. 03/07/2003 11:16 Darren_C Subject: fish release for 01 brd Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2003 10:00:36 -0600 From: "Charles Strom" Gentlemen, Ray Brunson and Don Larson will conduct their pre-release sampling at all acclimation sites next week starting March 11 and are schedule to complete the job on March 12. I am recommending that we pull screens at the Clark Flat and Jack Cr. sites on the 3/14/03 which is a Friday. Normally we shoot for the 3/15 but since this falls on the weekend we will pull screens one day earlier. Easton screens will remain until 3/31/03 when all of Jason's PAT fish will be released at once. Repairs to Easton pumps could start in mid-April which should allow fish enough time to leave outlet channel. 02/13/2003 23:54 D._Chase From: "Charles Strom" To: "Darren Chase" Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2003 8:37 AM Subject: Re: CFJ,ESJ,JCJ Darren, Here is a closer estimated number for fish located at each acclimation site. We will start releasing fish at Clark Flat and Jack Creek on March 14, 2003. One board from each raceway will be removed every two weeks after March 14 to lower pond levels and aid in fish movement. Fish located at Easton will not be released until March 31 and at that time all fish will be forced out of raceways as Jason's predator avoidance study will be completed. 02/13/2003 08:53 Darren_C Yesterday I visited JCJ to pump out the water from the flood that was caused when the creek flodded last week. When I arrived the Hatchery personnel was just delivering the last load of fish completing their delivery. The site was stick tested. The totals for all three sites and when they had fish delivered are as follows: CFJ - Delivered fish on January 13 and 14th. They are populating 2 raceways with 45,000 in each raceway. Total pittag fish is 9,000. ESJ - Delivered fish on February 5 and 6th. They are populating 6 raceways with 6,000 in each raceway. Total pittag fish 3,600. JCJ - Delivered fish February 11, 12, and 13th. They are populating 6 raceways with 45,000 in each raceway. Total pittag fish 27,000. I spoke with Vernon Bogar from the hatchery and it sounds like they will be pulling boards sometyime around the 2nd week of March. I will post the exact Date when I am notified by Cle Elum Hatchery. 02/05/2003 14:33 Darren_C On Tuesday 2-4-03 the site was visited to test and repair the fiber optic cables that were broken, if possible. I was able to repair one pair but there is one pair that could not be fixed. While on site it was noticed that the "dam" that holds back the creek water prior to the exit pipes was overflowing and causing the monitor area to be filled with water. One monitor "North monitor" appears to be full of water because the current has fallen from 1.9-2.0 to 1.4-1.5. I spoke with Vern from the Cle Elum hatchery and they were going to try and contain the water and then let the water in the monitor area dissapate. We will make another trip some time next week to remove the water from the monitor and retune the transceivers. 02/05/2003 14:18 darren@p A1:LowExcCurrent,A2:LowExcCurrent: These alarms are being caused by the fact that the monitor is filled with water. I spoke with Vern from the Cle Elum hatchery and a plan was discussed for them to get the water levels back to normal and then we will drain the monitor and retune the transceivers. I tuned to get the best current/noise ratio possible. 01/01/2003 12:12 Dave Initialized new event log for 2003. 2002 event log has been archived. ####End of Event Log for JCJ###
