EVENT LOG FOR SITE JCJ Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time and who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What -------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 11/22/2004 10:18 Darren I just spoke with Charlie Strom from the Cle Elum Hatchery and he informed that they have tenttativelyScheduled the week of Dec 27th for starting the generators and bringing the facility to full power. They will also be bringing ESJ and CFJ online as well. 06/02/2004 14:27 scott 6/1/04 at 14:00 hrs marks the end of pittag detection activities for this year. It is unknown when the release creek dried up and site personell are not sure either. The data collection platform and transceivers were turned OFF to prevent damage to equipment at the start of next years interrogation season. As well known , this site is not commercially powered and powered by propane generators.Outstanding data files were retrieved from PC2 and will be submitted to PTAGIS for processing. 06/01/2004 10:31 Dave Site-checking for file uploads was discontinued on June 1. 05/26/2004 15:54 Dchase I spoke with Charlie Strom today and confirmed the dates at which the creek's were dry at each site. As of 5-21-04 ESJ and CFJ were dry. JCJ will not be dry until 6-1-04. Also the power will be removed at JCJ on 6-3-04. PSMFC will have someone on site prior to the power being shut down so that we can grab files and do a controlled shut down of the Data Collection Platform as well as the transceivers, this is not standard protocol for PSMFC but this facility does not have all year round. The Hatchery does give us ample amounts of time, from the time the facility has powered supplied and regulated to the time at which fish are delivered to the ponds, to setup the Data Collection Platform and transceivers. 05/18/2004 15:47 Troy Called Charlie this morning and his site personnel reported that both PC's were running and that site personnel would be at the site until later in the afternoon. When PTOC personnel returned from the coil replacement at MC1 site personnel at JCJ were contacted. It was found that Minimon had locked up PC1. Had site personnel verify that PC2 wan not locked up and was still collecting data and then had them re-boot PC1. Once PC1 was back up and running it was verified via PCAnywhere that everything was working correctly. PC1 locked up on file JCJ04138.C. Data to fill the file gap will have to be manually retrieved from PC2 when PTOC personnel are at the site next. The file was not stopped and started on PC2 so some file manipulation will be required. By the time we realized our mistake site personnel had already returned to the field. PTOC Kennewick will fix the file(s) prior to submitting them. 05/17/2004 09:11 Dchase This message was received from Charlie Strom from the Cle Elum Hatchery on Friday. All fish at the three acclimation sites have been pushed out of raceways. Water is left running at sites so fish do not get stranded. Clean up of sites will start with Jack Creek and after pump test at Easton and Clark Flat are completed those sites will be cleaned and shut down for the year. PSMFC will schedule maintenance for the upcoming shutdown. 05/13/2004 08:52 Alan I submitted JCJ04121.C2, JCJ04121.D2, JCJ04121.E2, and JCJ04121.F9 (a manually truncated file) to patch a hole in data collection from PC1. 05/05/2004 09:57 Darren I spoke with Charlie Strom today (5-5-04) and he informed me that all fish will be forced out on next friday (5-14-04) so that the facilities can perform pump test and clean up prior to the expiration of their water permits, which expire on 6-1-04. If any of this schedule changes Charlie will inform the Kennewick office. 05/02/2004 11:09 Darren This site is showing a file gap of 9 hrs. The site PC1 had to be rebooted on Friday afternoon when it was discovered that the PC had locked up. Since the application could not shut down properly the file that was being generated was subsequently lost. It was verified that PC2 was collecting Data and the file gap will be filled with PC2 Data on the next site visit. 04/29/2004 19:43 Alan A GMC was performed 4/29/2004. All transceivers were tuned. The monitors were stick tested with 15 sticks each, achieving 100% detection. 04/09/2004 07:15 darren@r B2:TestTagFailure: Alarm was generated by PSMFC personnel while tuning transceivers. 04/08/2004 22:27 Darren I was able to PCA into the site and send the files manually. I will check to see that the files upload automatically in the morning. The signal strength of the Satellite modem is increased to 7.600. 04/08/2004 21:35 D._Chase PSMFC personnel were on site today to try and solve the Satellite Communication problems that we were experiencing. I arrived at 10:30 and found that PC1 was in Data collection mode but I had no RX lock on the Satellite modem. Several things were tested before any decisions were made. At first the cables from the modem to the junction block in the 30 X 30 were replaced with a manufactured pair of cables. I was able to obtain an RX lock and had a signal strength of 7.500. We then put the old cables back in place and had a signal strength of 6.400 a significant difference. We replaced the cables with the manufactured cable and realigned the dish. Dave Marvin and I then proceeded to patch any holes that were created while PC1 was not sending files. All the holes were patched and a chat link between Dave and I was maintained for about 1/2 hr. The signal strength did not change in over 2 hours while I was on site. We will watch to see how the file upload works. I checked to see if the upload had happened as of 21:00 but had not seen anything. I was able to ping the modem and I will try to PCA into site to see if there are any failures with minimon.I will post any findings at a later date. I also stick tested the monitors with 100% detection. 04/07/2004 16:34 Darren_C I will be on site tomorrow to deal with the satellite communication problems. I did contact site personnel today to verify Data Collection and found that PC1 was unresponsive. I had the site personnel re-boot the PC to get minimon to respond. I will be patching any Data holes that were created during my visit tomorrow. 04/06/2004 09:40 Darren_C The Problems that we have been having with communications at JCJ were due to signal quality. I spoke with Starband technical support twice on Saturday and found that they were getting signal quality updates with time stamps which meant that the PC was alive but the quality had fell below 5.00 which is the minimum signal required by Starband. I was on site yesterday and re-aligned the dish using the "bird dog" signal detector and I was able to obtain a steady signal of 6.40. I had Don PCA into site and found that connection was clean. Files were being sent up until 00:00 and the site was seen since. I have tried to ping the modem and PCA into the site with no success. I spoke with Starband technical support and they were unable to give a signal quality reading which meant that there was no modem connection. I am in the process of contacting site personnel to verify PC is in Data Collection. Scott Livingston is on route to troubleshoot what he can. If the signal quality has dropped or is gone I will be on site to troubleshoot any Satellite problems tomorrow. I will post more when the information becomes available. 04/04/2004 14:01 Troy Made contact with site personnel today. It was verified that PC1 was collecting data. Had site personnel reboot the modem but still couldn't PCAnywhere in. Then had site personnel reboot PC1 and the starband modem. Still couldn't PCAnywhere in. Finally had the site personnel try to manually upload the files. This did not work. PTOC personnel will be on site tomorrow to re-align the dish and set this problem straight. PC1 is collecting data. 04/03/2004 10:41 troy We are in the process of contacting site personnel to verify that PV1 is in data collection, we believe that it is. Starband was contacted and with the help of technical support it was determined that PC1 is alive however the signal strenght is low which is causing the data accelerator tunnel to go down. We will update this event log when contact is made with site personnel. 04/02/2004 10:10 Darren I was able to restart the Data Accelator Tunnel on the Starband system and submit the files manually. I will keep a close on the Satellite connection for any further failures. We experienced some similar problems early in the season last year but as the season progressed the ystem stabalized. 03/26/2004 10:27 Darren I checked to ensure the file upload at 9 a.m. but the file transfered failed. I was able to send the files manually. I will check later for automated uploads. 03/26/2004 08:11 Don_Warf -------- Original Message -------- Date: Thu, 25 Mar 2004 15:51:24 -0500 (EST) From: dlwarf@starband.net To: pitevent@psmfc.org CC: don_warf@psmfc.org I visited JCJ to find out what the problems were on the Data Submission. I found that the modem was not responding to the PC I restarted both the PC and modem and was able to establish a connection. I spoke with Starbands technical staff before arriving and they informed me that it would be best to update the Mission Control software, so once the connection was established I upgraded the mission control software. I found the patches for yesterdays file gaps and the gaps that were created today and sent them in as a test burn for file submission. I was unable to throw sticks at this facility because the water is to far over the exit pipes. The efficiencies for the past week do not reflect any problems. The transceivers also look to be in tune and low in noise. . 03/24/2004 16:10 Alan PTAGIS Kennewick is trying to resolve this issue. Worst case we will be onsite tomorrow to troubleshoot this. >The following problems with remote sites were detected; > >jcj: Last data submission was received on Wed Mar 24 6:02:13 PST 2004 > >Please check this out. 03/16/2004 10:55 Darren I was informed yesterday by Charlie Strom of the Cle Elum Hatchery that the first set of boards have been removed at each site, so there will be fish movement. The schedule is to pull one board every two weeks. We will be informed if there is any change to this schedule. 02/23/2004 08:20 Scott_Li -------- Original Message -------- Subject: CFJ,ESJ, and JCJ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 08:25:45 -0800 From: Darren Chase To: Don Warf , Alan Brower , scott livingston , Troy Humphrey Guys, FYI - The acc ponds will be fully populated by the end of this week. The totals, according to Jason Rau, are 2200 PITtag fish per raceway and there are 6 raceways per site. Thus there are 13,200 total PITtags per site. The names of the onsite personnel are as follows: David - ESJ, Dwayne - CFJ, and Terrance - JCJ. I also spoke with Charlie about Troy and Alan getting their keys and we will setup a convenient time during the season to pick those up at the hatchery. I will be posting the totals for each site to the event log. Thanks, D.Chase . 02/16/2004 09:14 D._Chase On Friday I visited all three sites to replace the rocketport cards on the Data Collection Platforms. I was able to build and submit all time gap files from PC2. Only sites CFJ and ESJ currently have fish in each raceway. JCJ will not have fish until sometime during the week of 2-16-04. I have all the time gap files on disk which I will give to Alan on Tuesday when I am back in the office. 02/11/2004 15:09 Dave I updated the ptagis3.test_tags table, and explicitly assigned a coil_id value of 'A1' to the existing JCJ timer tag record for 3D9.0EEEEEE5E9. 02/10/2004 09:13 Darren_C The timer tag report is not showing any tag code for coil A1. The tag code that needs to be added is 3D9.0EEEEEE5E9. The coil is alive and in tune. 01/24/2004 11:05 alan@ree B2:LowExcCurrent: This alarm was caused by PTOC personel during a site visit. 01/23/2004 16:37 Dave I updated the ptagis3.test_tags table, and replaced the old A1 timer tag definition at JCJ, 3D9.0EEEEEE167, with the new tag 3D9.0EEEEEE5E9 specified by Scott. 01/23/2004 15:06 Dave I enabled site checking at 1500h today. 01/23/2004 09:52 scott In preparation for the 2004 season the transceivers have been tuned and all fiber optic comms have been repaired and verified operational. Satelite comms link to PTAGIS has been established and a test upload was successfull. Replaced the Timertag for coil A1. The new TT code for this antenna is 3D9.0EEEEEE5E9.The 2003 files were archived on each PC in c:\program files\PTAGIS\MiniMon\2003 Data. The buffers were cleared on all 4 transceivers. The facility is not watered up at this time therefore stick testing of the monitors is not possible. Per Simon at the facility, JCJ is scheduled to water-up Jan. 26th and fish to be delivered the following week depending on the state of the facility. The facilty is now considered online and active for the season. No other problems to report. Dave, Please turn on file submission checking for this site ASAP. No other problems found. 01/01/2004 12:00 Dave Initialized new event log for 2004. 2003 event log has been archived. ####End of Event Log for JCJ###
