I've updated the obs_site_dates table with an end_date of April 28, and flagged the site as "Done" for the year. 05/19/2005 11:51 Dave Per Scott's request, I've disabled site-checking at JCJ by updating the etc/sites file on blueback (and sockeye). 05/16/2005 08:51 Don_Warf _____ _____ From: Charles Strom [mailto:osprey@eburg.com] Sent: Friday, May 13, 2005 3:08 PM To: Don Warf Subject: Re: Jack Creek Meeting Don, You are correct and I am in the process of having a contractor visit the site to give me a proposal for correcting the problem. Thanks Charlie ----- Original Message ----- From: Don Warf To: osprey@eburg.com Cc: Mark Johnston ; Carter Stein ; Alan Brower ; Darren Chase ; 'Don Warf' ; Scott Livingston ; Troy Humphrey Sent: Friday, May 13, 2005 2:54 PM Subject: Jack Creek Meeting Hello, On May 5th, 2005 Charlie Strom (YIN Cle Elum Hatchery Manager) and I met at the Jack Creek Acclimation Pond for a meeting regarding the increased flows through the facility and how this affected the Pittag monitors at all three sites. Due to improvements in pump design, the operators are now able to meet the design spec for water flows through all three acclimation pond sites. Because the Pittag monitors were designed for the lower flows, flooding and erosion will occur around the dry area of the monitor shields when the correct flows are used. This was demonstrated by the site operators. Two solutions were discussed: 1. Remodeling of all the Pittag monitors to accept larger pipes. This was deemed to be expensive and would require a complete excavation of the entire system. 2. Adding a overflow pipe that would bypass the increased flows downstream of the monitors. This was suggested by Mark Johnston (YIN Biologist) and has the following advantages: A. The Pittag monitors will not need to be modified. B. The excavation will be minimal. C. Minimal cost. The overflow pipes will need a screened entrance that will become a maintenance item for the operators. Charlie stated that this would not be an issue. Charlie indicated that since the cost for this improvement should be minimal that the YIN may have funds to do this work before next season. Charlie, please correct any misconceptions listed here. If the second solution is accepted, when do you expect to start the work? Thanks, Don. 04/22/2005 10:33 Darren_C I received the file load failure message and PCA'd into the site and manually pushed the files to the server. All looked fine. Darren R. The monitors were sticktested with 20 sticks each, results following: A1 20/20 A2 20/20 B1 20/20 B2 20/20 PC2 was interrogating upon arrival with a Starband error. It was rebooted. PC1's clock was adjusted 00:03:13 forward and PC2's clock was adjusted 00:06:32 backward so as to be within one second of atomic time. No other problems found. 04/13/2005 08:13 Alan_Bro Manually pushed JCJ05103.B1 to PTAGIS. -----Original Message----- From: pittag@psmfc.org [mailto:pittag@psmfc.org] Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 7:15 AM To: sitemaint@psmfc.org Subject: Problems with remote data sites... PSMFC will continue to monitor for future load failures. 03/30/2005 12:26 Alan_Bro This morning, both PC's were unresponsive to PCA. With the help of on-site personnel, JCJ05088.G1 through JCJ05089.D1 were manually pushed to PTAGIS. Inexplicably, PCA is now operational on both PC's. 03/30/2005 08:14 Alan_Bro PTAGIS Field Operations is looking into the whereabouts of the tardy files. 03/22/2005 15:36 Darren_C I PCA'd into the site and manually pushed the .D file after receiving the notification that the site had not loaded. The logging page showed the error as an "Transmission Interrupted". The file I sent went without flaw. We will continue to monitor for loading failures. Darren R. All transceivers were tuned. 20 sticks were thrown into each monitor, results following: A1 - 20 A2 - 20 B1 - 19 B2 - 20 No problems found. 03/10/2005 08:34 Darren_C A site GMC was performed yesterday prior to the boards on the raceway being pulled. The outdoor fiber was re-terminated and glued to avoid the pistoning effect that was causing some fiber communication problems. I found that PC1 was collecting data but was unable to submit files due to an O/S problem that was resolved by performing a "hard" re-boot of the computer. All communications were tested and with the exception of one (1) fiber strand in the "A" side enclosure all tested good. The #8 strand of fiber in the "A" side enclosure was unable to pass any light and will need to shot with the OTDR to determine where the problem is and how it can be resolved. Darren R. Chase PSMFC Systems Engineer (509) 735-2773 ext.3 03/10/2005 08:02 Darren_C This e-mail was received from Charles Strom at the Cle Elum Hatchery. It states that there is an early release from all the acclimation ponds. Based on MIPT recommendations and approval by STAC juveniles at acclimation sites will start the volitional release tomorrow on March 9. Pre-release sampling will be completed tomorrow. Screens will be removed at acclimation sites once Ray and Don complete sampling at Jack Creek (the last sample site). Towards the end of the day all ponds will be lowered by removing two dam boards allowing fish the opportunity to migrate in the evening hours. Thursday morning the two boards will be placed back in to bring pond levels up to normal height. The same process of removing two boards and placing them back in the morning will be repeated three times per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) for a two week period. Thanks Charlie Darren R. Chase PSMFC Systems Engineer (509) 735-2773 ext.3 03/07/2005 08:15 Alan_Bro I PCA'd into JCJ-PC2 today (3-7-2005) and verified that PC2 is collecting data. PTAGIS Field Operations will be on site this week to re-establish PC1 coms. -----Original Message----- From: pittag@psmfc.org [mailto:pittag@psmfc.org] Sent: Monday, March 07, 2005 6:15 AM To: sitemaint@psmfc.org Subject: Problems with remote data sites... I am still unable to verify the status of PC1 but will do so early next week when I am on-site for other issues. I spoke with Vernon Bogar and verified that the first set of boards will be pulled on 3-15-05 with subsequent boards being removed every other week. If any verification is needed over the weekend please use the address for PC2 to gain access. 02/28/2005 09:08 Darren PSMFC personnel noticed today (2-28-05) that PC1 has not submitted a file since JCJ05055.A1. I was able to PCA into PC2 and verify data collection. PSMFC will be on-site early next week and we will fill the file gap at that time. 02/18/2005 13:33 Dave I updated the ptagis3.test_tags table with the current timer tag assignments at JCJ. 02/18/2005 09:47 Alan_Bro The timer tag on Antenna B2 failed and was replaced with a new one 2-15-2005. The new timer tag code for B2 is 3D9.0EEEEEE369. 02/16/2005 09:38 Darren PSMFC personnel were on site yesterday to address several issues. The first issue addressed was the Satellite Communications. I was required by Starband to install some new software for Mission Control and re- configure the modems. It seems they had some Satellite failures during the month of December. The next issue was the communications between trnasceiver A1 and A2, we found that the fiber had pistoned in the ferrule, we will resolve this issue by adding glue to the ferrules. Transceiver B1 would communicate with the platform but we could not send commands to the transceiver we found that the F.O. modem inside the transceiver had failed it was then replaced. We flashed all the transceivers to receive SGL tag codes and removed the water inside the monitors. The files will be submitted accordingly. 02/16/2005 09:24 darren@r A1:Overrun,A2:TestTagFailure,B1:TestTagFailure,B2:TestTagFailure: Alarms were generated by PSMFC Personnel while on-site performing site maintenance. 01/27/2005 08:28 Darren This message was received from Charles Strom (Cle Elum Hatchery). Mel, All juveniles from the 03 brood have been successfully transferred to the acclimation sites. Yesterday we finished moving the last four ponds to Jack Creek. We used two trucks and it kept the transfer moving along pretty well. Later Charlie ####End of Event Log for JCJ###
