All transceivers were checked and adjusted as necessary for tuning, noise, and detectability. The Antenna enclosures were checked for water and found to be dry but the transceivers had drifted in tune causing the timer tags and efficiencies drop slightly. According to site Bio Greg K. the two way gate is scheduled to be repaired after the 15th of this month. The facility is currently only sampling on Mondays and Thursdays while the river temp is above 70 degrees. No sticks were passed through the separator monitor due to the facility being in primary bypass. The clock on PC1 was 1 minute and 25 seconds ahead of atomic time and was adjusted. The PC was out of collection for less than 10 seconds at which time no detections were recorded on PC2. Over the weekend the efficiencies on antenna 04 had slipped and by the time PSMFC arrived all four antennas were slightly out of tune. The systems on 03 and 04 had since de-tuned and were adjusted for optimization.The PC clocks were adjusted to within 1 second of atomic time and each other. Sticks were passed through the separator monitor and were detected and diverted at the 3-way at 100% but only 50% at the 2-way. More sticks were passed through revealing that the gate was not moving, upon further review I found the air pressure was around 75psi. I adjusted it to 90psi and that gate fired every time. All transceivers were checked and tuned as necessary. 10 sticks were passed through the separator gate with 100% diversion and detection efficiency. The air pressure on the separator gate is 99psi, the air pressure on the SbyC gate is 80psi. Approximately one inch of water was found in the downstream end of antenna shield 01. 02 was dry, 03 had water covering 90% of the floor (3" deep at the downstream end) and 04 had minimal water. USACE personnel drilled 1/2" weep holes at the downstream corners through the floors of each shield. All shields are drained at this point. The source of the water is unknown. The pipe was "sweating" profusly inside 01, 03 and 04. After the doors were open for a while that condition subsided. Perhaps 02 and 04 were not as water tight as 01 and 03, causing whatever water from condensation (or perhaps rain that somehow got through the welded seems) to leak out. The pipe itself does not appear to be leaking. Outstanding files on PC2 were archived. Both PCs are 25 seconds behind atomic time. The same is true if the water level is below an acceptable level. The 'De-watered' timer was increased to 4 scans or 240 seconds. If there are counts the next time I check the counter then the Level Transmitter should be re-calibrated as the water level is varying more than initially thought. 10 sticks were thrown on the 3 way gate which then passed through the 2 way gate. All sticks were diverted properly. It appeared that PC1 was just shutoff. The first thing that was seen was a laptop bag in the PIT tag room. Talked with site personnel about this and they indicated that a certain individual on occasion, or more often than not, uses the PIT tag room to surf the internet. They are NOT using the PIT tag data feed but rather binding to the SMP wireless data feed. What I suspect happen was that this person bumped the power switch with their knee on PC1 shutting it down. I informed the SMP and the COE personnel that this shouldn't have happened and that this room is not for general use by anyone. They agreed completely and will correct the situation along with helping police the use of the PIT tag room. Bottom line, the primary PC was restored without any issues. Radio gear testing was completed, the Primary Bypass indication is now on a PSMFC installed and maintained switch. Counters have been installed to monitor link losses and FF water up/down events. These will be tied into an email when the HMI's are updated later this year. The sample/sbyc gate was thoroughly investigated and it was found that the flip gate on the under side of the gate is stuck in the left most position (looking down stream). When the gate rolls to the right to divert a fish there is a 1 to 1.5 foot section towards the downstream end of the gate that the flip gate is cutting into the diversion water which has the potential to put diverted fish to the sample tank. Attempts were made to free the flip gate but were unsuccessful. The PSMFC site bio and the COE bio are aware of the problem. The bio's feel that there is not a need to fix this at this point in the season unless there will be a SbyC requirement later on in the season. I was checking after the fact and found that the 20 fish that ended up in the sample tank during the test were indeed to be diverted into the SbyC tank. The raw file indicated that for 3:13 the 3-way gate probably did not rotate back to top dead center, the amount and time frame of the fish show that many diversions were coming through the separator monitor thus keeping the gate open. Occasionally I was seeing fish being put into the sample tank and not during a sample. Greg was not informed of what size or kind of fish were tagged at McNary so I believe the fish were forced under the gate and into the sample. I am checking the gate throughly for operations but feel this is a valid explanation. 05/20/2010 10:55 dARREN PSMFC personnel were on site today to check the SbyC gate operations because of a test group of fish that were to be released upstream. I arrived at 10:00 only to find that the test had already been performed. I spoke with Greg K. to verify time frame of the release. He then asked if we could check to see if all the fish were in the tank. I ran report and found that of the 100 AC-98 fish 79 were detected and diverted to the East tank and 20 were placed into the sample tank (DDS was not on as they are only at 1%). Greg believes that 1 PITtag may have shed during the transport from McNary. All other transceivers were checked for tuning, noise and detectability. The two-way gate was found to be working but was showing signs of a worn out shock. The shock was replaced (two times, a new one out of the bag lost it's hydraulic fluid after 5 gate cycles). The COE plans to cycle this gate every two hours. The COE started the process of swinging the Primary Bypass gate around 0630 this morning. Sampling started at 0700 this morning. The primary bypass indication is not working. The COE bio is going to submit a trouble ticket. Everything out at the big gate is working as it should but the COE PLC and lights inside tell a different story. This was the case last year and it turned out the the ML1100 out at the big gate wasn't communicating as it should so hopefully this is a simple fix like last year. 10 sticks were thrown on the 3 way gate (timing was verified for the first 5) which then passed through the 2 way gate (timing was verified for the last 5). All sticks were diverted properly. PC2 is functioning properly. Automated uploads were disabled on PC1 and enabled on PC2. The clocks on both PCs were set to within one second of atomic time. The file gaps that have been created are inconsequential as the facility not yet in operation this year. I manually "Closed" the file and resubmitted it for processing. The subsequent JDJ10078.103 opened normally at 3:10:01. The site has been de-watered for the duration of the downtime. Being that the files contained no interrogation records, the outstanding data files on PC1 were archived rather than submitted.
