Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician PSMFC/IDFG 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 Jason.Fortier@idfg.idaho.gov 04/29/2013 09:10 Fortier System sustained a power failure and buffer erased itself from 4/12 0734 - 4/17 1020. This power failure has been diagnosed to the 2 relays failing. The array was reset (4/17 1020) and operated normal until numerous power issues: 4/22/2013 0056 - 1156 1256 - 1709 2100 - 0000 4/23/2013 0000 - 1107 1225 - 1946 2038 - 0000 4/24/2013 0000 - 1704 During these times there were occasional hits on the array but the system was operating with reduced power. Power failure has been diagnosed to a surge tripping the breaker that supplies power to the battery charger. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 04/12/2013 08:44 Fortier Operations normal. High noise during mid day hours. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 04/08/2013 14:11 Fortier Weekend operations normal. Flows increased from rain fall. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 04/08/2013 14:08 Fortier Weekly (4/1-4/5) operations normal. Slight discrepancies in time is due to downloading as test tags fire. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 04/02/2013 07:39 Fortier Operations normal. Still getting adults. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/29/2013 16:26 Fortier Operations normal. Flows and noise low. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/26/2013 07:55 Fortier Operations normal. Antenna 4 is still tight to the streambed as well as the in stream cable connection. Higher noise levels appear to be linked to velocity. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/22/2013 12:08 Fortier Operations normal. Antenna 4 noise relatively low, lowering flows may be contributing to less vibration on the antenna. Water still too swift to check in stream connections of the antenna. Retuning of antennas complete. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/19/2013 13:19 Fortier Operations normal. Antenna 4 has consistent high noise levels. High flows limited our ability to check the antenna's in stream connection but the antenna is still attached and secure to the stream bottom. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/15/2013 07:54 Fortier Antenna 5's cable was damaged resulting in a new cable installation and a loss of detection capability from 3/13/2013 1450 until 3/14/2013 1057. Retuning was conducted to lower noise levels and increase detection range. A reprogramming of the battery bank timer took place creating a program that will run each bank for 3 hours before switching, in hopes of lowering the draw down on the batteries and noise levels. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/13/2013 15:49 Fortier Powered down the mux at 230pm to Replaced bank A batteries. When the mux was powered back on antenna 5 was not present. Tried tuning to redetect antenna but no luck. Water level rose. Will troubleshoot tomorrow in the AM. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/12/2013 15:45 Fortier Replacing batteries tomorrow. High noise levels while on site, still picked up some test tags. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/12/2013 06:19 Fortier Data downloaded 3-10-2013, was out of the office until 3-12-2013. Operations Normal. Still troubleshooting why there are distinct gaps around 12 am to 6 am and 12-1 pm until 6 pm. Batteries tested ok with volt meter. Very high noise levels during those periods. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/07/2013 14:23 Fortier Operations Normal. Tightened down ground wire to reduce noise. Still finding gaps in data where noise levels are too high to pick up even test tags. Report status says exciter voltage is fine and battery is ok but testing for problems with batteries draining before switching battery banks. Racked out gravel mounds behind antennas and filled in spaces to reduce scouring due to high water. Jason Fortier Senior Fisheries Technician Idaho Department of Fish and Game 3316 16th St. Lewiston, ID 83501 208-799-5010 03/06/2013 17:08 Fortier Operations Normal. High noise levels.
