LOWER MONUMENTAL JUVENILE FISH FACILITY EVENTS Date Event 11/03/93 Shut down site for the season. Removed all the Pit Tag gear at the site (including the computers) for testing at the BIOMARK lab in Boise. (Warf) 10/08/93 Worked on coils 00, 02, 08 and 0A. Found that the coils have been misidentified on all of the site maps. After that, I traced the problem back to the controller tied to those four coils. Replacing the serial interface card solved the problem. All four coils now running at 100%. (Warf) 10/05/93 Visited for maint. Ran stick test. Found coil 0A not working. Traced to a loose connection in its controller. Found coils 00, 02, 08 and 0A all with low efficiency. Will make a trip back on 10/08/93. (Warf) 10/05/93 Rechecked data from before 05/13; Doug Marsh sent copies of files he got while working there. The following files found to have more fish in Doug's set than in ours: LMJ93120.A LMJ93124.A LMJ93125.A LMJ93126.A LMJ93127.A LMJ93130.A LMJ93131.A LMJ93132.D I will delete these files from the database and reload them from Doug's copies. There is one tag id in the database which does not appear in Doug's copies; I will add this to the file before I reload them. (R Buchanan) 09/24/93 0800 Observed that LMJ93266.B uploaded without LMJ93266.A; apparent power failure at site around 1645. Uploaded LMJ93266 by hand; no tag records; will load tomorrow morning with today's files. (R Buchanan) 08/17/93 0830 Lead computer locked up again. (R Buchanan) 1300 Replaced lead computer. (Warf) 1515 Loaded files from backup machine for 14 July, 30 July, 12 August and 16 August to cover gaps in data transmission. (R Buchanan) 08/13/93 Found both the lead and back-computers locked up in the monitor programs. Rebooted the lead computer to get it back on line. Had to reboot both the back-up computer and its multiport to get it back on line. All data from 11:41am on 8/11/93 to 1:30pm on 8/13/93 at this site has been lost. (Warf) 08/11/93 1100 Equipment to be shut down for several hours today due to main power shutdown in building. Talked site biologist through shutdown and restart procedures. (R Buchanan, Bill Spurgeon) 07/30/93 0900 Problem with upload; RC 2 from LMJ in /x/opt2/report.log. Most likely a problem with MLINK on PC there; modem here was on and connected (turned off to disconnect phone connection). Will send Don to investigate. (R Buchanan) 1400 Don investigated, found that main machine had been left in an incorrect state. Copied files 93209, 93210 from backup machine (copy of 93211, today's, was messed up; will collect this file on next visit to site). Corrected mon-file from Portland. (R Buchanan) 07/28/93 Replaced bad monitor. (Warf) 07/28/93 Files reloaded. (R Buchanan) 07/23/93 Checked files again from early May with Doug Marsh; he noted date discrepancy; see lmj93187.note. Readjusted dates and reloaded. (R Buchanan; see lmj93203.note). 07/14/93 Visited for maint. Still have a problem with the back-up computer modem. Everything else looks ok. (Warf) 07/07/93 Checked files from between 05/31 and 07/01, comparing with previous loading; found dates to be incorrect (adjustment was not correct; see lmj93165.note, NOTE 6). Adjusted and reloaded. (R Buchanan; see lmj93187.note) 07/02/93 Checked tuner connections in one tunnel; tight. Ran test tags through each tunnel; of twenty tags, ten through each of A and B Main, one was bad; the others were all detected (not on all coils, but only the one was missed in each of two tests). We will watch the coil efficiencies carefully to see whether these need tuning. Sample room tunnel; twenty tags, nineteen detected (same nineteen as before, with one bad). (R Buchanan, Don) 07/01/93 Phone line installed at LMJ; now in regular polling list. 07/01/93 Noticed several things: 1. All ten connectors in the equipment room to the power supplies and controllers were at least slightly loose (I tightened them). 2. 23 of the 25 connectors in the exciter boxes (four into each exciter, one into power filter) were loose, some enough to not be connected; I tightened them. 3. Dates on both PCs were correct; I set the times. 4. Controller 58 resetting itself again (apparently due to loose connector; stopped after tightening) 5. On resets, each controller showed problems: 58: One reader card not showing at all 50: One coil showing "SELFTEST: 08" (coil not present) 51: Three coils showing "SELFTEST: 08" 50's corrected itself after tightening connectors; one of 51's did. Coils 04 and 06 still show SELFTEST: 08 when coil 51 resets. Will return with Don and tools tomorrow. (R Buchanan) 6/16/93 Data from Lower Monumental Dam through 31 May 1993 will be available this afternoon. Data from Bonneville and John Day Dams through 10 June 1993 will be available as of tomorrow morning (15 June 1993). 06/16/93 Dates on loaded files appear to be one day later than actual, based on conversation with Doug Marsh (he compared some reads he made in the sample room with those in the database). Went back to files, corrected and reloaded. In process, noted problems with controller 58 and corrected also. (R Buchanan) 06/14/93 Data loaded from 27 April - 31 May. Some required correc- tion due to incorrect time and datestamps. See file lmj93165.note for details. 06/10/93 Visited site; equipment room AC still off; temperature not excessive. Computers, equipment operating correctly; cable between multiport on one computer repaired correctly. (R Buchanan, Don) 06/04/93 Air conditioning in PIT Tag equipment room to be turned off this weekend due to plumbing problems. Should be back on Monday afternoon. (R Buchanan, per Bill Spurgeon) 05/12/93 Not able to identify communication problem between one PC and its multiport (not able to transmit time set command). Moved cables to have the PC which is communicating set the times on the controllers. Controller 58 (Sample room) does not accept time set command. When turned off, its clock changes radically; I suspect this is due to the battery on the clock card being low. The tunnel was in use at the time, so I did not look further. (R Buchanan) 05/07/93 Coil had been left set up for tuning rather than operating; corrected. (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/07/93 Lab tunnel current low on both coils; corrected. (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/04/93 Replaced failed monitor (R Buchanan) 05/__/93 PC failed due to fixed disc crash (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/__/93 Cable between PC and Multiport found to be faulty; will look into in office (R Buchanan, per Don) __/__/93 Operations began (R Buchanan) 04/14/93 PITTAG gear installed, ready to go (R Buchanan) 03/17/93 Visited; found facilities to not be ready for PIT Tag gear installation (R Buchanan) 03/29/93 Began installing PITTAG gear (R Buchanan)
