1994 Event Log LMJ -- Lower Monumental Juvenile ==================================================== 11/01/94 Site watered down for the season. -Warf- 09/22/94 Replaced Backup Disks in both computers because of 0 Bytes Free. Ran Stick Tests on Separator tunnels. All other tunnels dewatered. Fixed bad power plug on excitor card on downstream diversion tunnel. Cycled all power supplies to check Timer Tags. All functioning. -Ross (Biomark)- 09/21/94 Power outage (unplanned) from approx. 1330 to 1356. -Ross (Biomark)- 09/12/94 Visited for maint. Repaired air leak on the B side slide gate. -Warf- 08/12/94 Site back up this morning at 8:00 after the planned power outage. Checked equipment for proper operation. Reset time on both computers. -Warf- 08/10/94 Site down for a planned power outage at 6:40am. -Warf- 08/08/94 Site personnel report going to 100% sample on 8/4/94. -Warf- 07/28/94 Tuned the B Diversion tunnles to 408. Changing water levels have been changing the tune causing poor reads. Stick tests have read well. B Diversion tunnels were down from 11:30 until 3:00. Top 5 power supplies have gone out as a result of the Air Cond. going out. They went out about 2:00AM were put back on line as of 7:00 AM. The effected coils were, 0C, 0E, 04, 06, 18, 1A, 00,02,28,2A. THe entire system is now up and running. -OHRN- ***********IMPORTANT NOTE TO RESEARCHERS DEPENDING HEAVILY ON PIT TAG DATA IN AUGUST. ON OR AROUND 8/10-8/11 THE LOWER MONUMENTAL JUVENILE FACILITY MAY BE WITHOUT POWER DUE TO "DOBBLE TESTING" OF THE DAMS POWER. BILL SPURGEON WILL BE TRYING TO GET A GENERATOR AS AN ALTERNATIVE POWER SUPPLY CONTACT HIM FOR UPDATED INFORMATION.-OHRN-********* 07/26/94 Coils were taken off-line in order to retune. 28,2A,2C,2E. 2C and 2E were reading poorly so I retuned 2C to 404 KHz. This occurred between 4:15 and 5:15 then they were repowered I ran a stick test and they appeared to have increased read efficiency and it is back to normal. I used 2E as a control and will tune 2E to the same frequency as soon as I have more data to confirm better performance at the lower frequency. Computer locked up and had to reboot, no loss of data. It appears changing water levels are responsible for the lower read efficiency and looking back to dates at the peak of the run the coils were reading well. -J.OHRN- 07/01/94 A power outage was reported by the site personnel on 6/24/94 that lasted between 20:29 and 23:54. -Warf- 07/01/94 Visited for maint. Ran sticks on the slide gate tunnels and got between 90 and 100%. -Warf- 06/22/94 Visited for maint. B separator/gate tunnel still with low efficiency. Replaced controller. Ran sticks at 100% -Warf- 06/20/94 Visited for maint. Found the B separator/gate tunnel running with low efficiency. Replaced I/O card in controller. -Warf- 06/10/94 The main computer locked up at 4:00pm on 6/9/94. Rebooted to clear the problem. Will upload the 6/9/94 and 6/10/94 files on 6/13/94. -Warf- 06/07/94 Visited for maint. Installed the timer tags on the slide gate coils. Everything checks ok. -Warf- 05/27/94 Visited for maint. Everything checks ok. -Warf- 05/20/94 Controller 53 for coils 10,12,08 and 0A is running self tests at random. Replaced controller. Will troubleshoot back in Kennewick. Everything is now back up and running. -Warf- 05/20/94 09:00 lmj94139 shows problems with controller 53. Warf checking at site. -Stein- 05/18/94 Visited for maint. Reset controller 53. Was not talking to its printer. Everything else looks ok. -Warf- 05/13/94 Visited for maint. Everything checks ok -Warf- 05/11/94 Ran Stick tag test on A and B Raceway tunnels. Coils 12 and 18 reading low. Checked tune on both coils - OK. Turned up amperage on excitor card on 18 from .75 to 1.0 - Reads OK. Found loose connection on the signal cable on 12 - Reads OK. Steve Achord ran stick test on the separator tunnels for his Slide Gate test - OK. John and I ran stick tests after Steve finished his test and found all Separator and diversion tunnels OK. The Diversion Exit, A and B Exits, and Sample tunnels were not stick testable. -Ross- 05/05/94 The slide gate counter was reported counting during the sample mode. Traced problem to a wiring error made during assemble. -Warf- 05/02/94 Smolt monitoring person reported the power supplies for coils 42,40,38,3A,30,32,10,12,08 and 0A were down. Found the power strip supplying them was turned off and was down app. 15 hours. Had to reset controller 53, as it was not talking to the printer. -Warf- 04/29/94 A side slide gate reported down. Found a loose relay for the COE hold off. Made repairs to keep relay from coming loose. S. Achord reports that the slide gate was down for app, 12 hours before being discovered. -Warf- 04/24/94 Ran Stick tag tests on Coils 20 22 24 26. Coil 24 reading low. Replaced the reader card. Final stick test of twenty tags showed Coil 20 - 19, Coil 22 - 20, Coil 24 - 16, Coil 26 - 17. After checking tune on coil 24 and 26 several times and swapping out every part in the system for these coils we determined that the orientation of the stick tags going through the tunnels was not optimal. Replaced noisy fan in controller 57. -Ross- 04/22/94 Work performed at LMJ: Tuned coils and stick tested A and B separator, A and B raceway. Replaced a black tuner box on coil 1E. Reader card on coil 16 was not seated in the controller properly. Slide Gates were set up to only operate while Corps was in sample mode. Switched wiring to fix this problem. Timer tags were removed from coils 04 06 0C 0E to keep them from operating the slide gates. -Ross- 04/22/94 We were notified by Bill Spurgeon at LMJ that the power went off on 4/20/94 for about 1 hour. I checked the data files on the computer. LMJ94110.A stops at 11:10:26 with no ending information and LMJ94110.B starts at 11:40:59 with some odd information layout at the beginning of the file (it is missing the | at the beginning of several records.). Is there a protocol in effect for reporting power outages for the sites? Steve Achord brought up the question of whether the timer tags on the slide gate tunnels will trip the slide gates. He has talked to Don Warf and Bruce Jonasson. We are checking the tune on the tunnels out of the separator and will be stick testing them this morning. -Ross- 04/15/94 Visted site to check on coils with low efficiencies. Found out that due to a ongoing study by the U. of Idaho the water levels in the flumes are being changed. We will have low coil efficiency until we can tune the tunnels to one water level. -Warf- 04/07/94 System powered up for the season. Full system is ready including the slide gates. Timer tags on all coils. -Warf- ===============------ EOF LMJ ---===================
