Darren copied data files from lmj00298.101 thru 299.104 to the sun logfiles directory for processing. 10/19/2000 08:06 darren@p A4:InputSyncDetect,A4:ReaderReset: Alarm caused by a random reader reset. This problem is still being addressed by Destron-Fearing and PTOC personnel. 10/09/2000 07:56 Darren_C I visited sight to attach Monitor and Enclosure nameplates as well as coil I.D.s. 10/09/2000 07:45 darren@p 82:InputSyncDetect,82:ReaderReset: Alarm was generated by a random reader reset. This problem is still being addressed by PTOC personnel and Destron-Fearing. 10/04/2000 14:00 Carter Bb reports low disk space. Compressed archived files in pc2 multimon directory to reclaim disk space. 09/28/2000 08:07 scottl@p A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:ReaderReset: The rest problem is ongoing and is being addressed. 09/19/2000 09:05 Darren_C A General Maintenance Check was performed. All transceivers were checked for Noise and Current. Sticks were tested on the separators with 100% efficiency. The priorities for the rocketports on all monitors except the Separators were changed to LOW leaving the separator set to HIGH. 09/07/2000 16:50 scott_li GMC found no problems to report. A and B gates diverted 10 of 10 stick tags with 100 percent efficiency. 08/28/2000 15:12 Dave Backfilled data collection hole with LMJ00231.103-104. 08/23/2000 08:23 darren@p 12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,13:InputSyncDetect,13:ReaderReset: Reader Resets were the result of PTOC maintenance. 08/22/2000 16:17 scott_li Temp data was downloaded from the data logger in the a-separator enclosures. LCD display module was replaced on xciever for coil 12, a-raceway. The LCD failed with 1/3 of the display not legable due to unknown circumstances. 08/22/2000 08:53 darren@p 42:TestTagFailure: Alarm was generated by PTOC personnel while performing a General maintenance check. 08/21/2000 14:15 Darren_C A general maintenance check was performed. Sticks were tested on the separator and diversion monitors with 100 0.000000e+00fficiency. All transceivers were checked for noise and current 08/15/2000 08:26 darren@p 31:ReaderReset,32:InputSyncDetect,32:InputSyncLost: The input sync lost alarm on coil 32 was generated by the reader reset on coil 31. This problem is being investigated by PSMFC and Destron-Fearing. 08/10/2000 09:37 scott_li Hobo temp data loggers was installed inside selected transceiver enclosures at each of these sites 8/9/00. Data will be extracted in approx. 2 weeks. 08/08/2000 07:58 darren@p 51:ReaderReset,52:InputSyncDetect,52:InputSyncLost: The Input sync lost/detected was generated by reader reset on coil 51. This is being addressed by PSMFC. 08/03/2000 08:12 Darren_C Since the fish numbers are down I reset the Status Report time for the A Separator from 240 minutes to 120 minutes. This was done to try and find a more specific time of when noise starts to climb on the transceivers. If the numbers start to go up or the files become to cluttered i will change the times back to 240 minutes. 08/03/2000 08:03 Darren_C A general maintenance check was performed. Sticks were thrown on the separator with 100 0.000000e+00fficiency. 08/03/2000 08:02 darren@p 12:InputSyncDetect,12:ReaderReset,13:InputSyncDetect,13:InputSyncLost,43:T estTagFailure: Alarms were generated by PSMFC personnel while performing site maintenance. 07/31/2000 11:08 Dave SMP personnel report that the PIT tag override switch was activated on Wednesday, July 26 at 11:10 am. 07/20/2000 08:20 Darren_C I visited the site to re-terminate the exciter cables. There was an excess of cable in the monitor it was suggested to us by Destron that by cutting the cables to a little shorter length we cut down on the noise. This has been a problem in the past with this monitor so we decided to give it a try. When I started the noise was spiking as high as 200n a couple of the transceivers. I cut the cables to length and had to retune the coils (in most cases added wire to coils). The noise was cut down considerably (the highest spike was about 8%) I tested the monitor by throwing sticks. A1-A4 were 100%. I will monitor the status reports to ensure that the noise does not start climbing. We may go back to the site with the H-feild meter to see if there is any outside interference's. 07/20/2000 08:01 darren@p A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:InputSyncLost,A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:InputSyncLost,A4 :InputSyncDetect,A4:InputSyncLost: Alarms were generated by PTOC personnel while performing site maintenance. Will monitor site for further alarms on this monitor. 07/19/2000 08:42 Darren_C A general maintenance check was performed. I also check the transceivers on the A-Separator. Since our visit to Destron-Fearing we have information that help with some of the noise problems that we have seen at this site. I will be back at the site on Wednesday to continue with the service. I may replace the transceiver on coil I.D. A2. There seems to be excessive generation of noise from this transceiver. 07/19/2000 08:13 darren@p A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:ReaderReset,A2:TestTagFailure,A3:InputSyncDetect,A3: InputSyncLost,A4:InputSyncDetect,A4:InputSyncLost: Alarms were generated by PTOC personnel while performing site maintenance. 07/01/2000 20:26 jndchase On friday 6-30-00 I went to the site because Transceiver 33 had completely failed. When I arrived I checked the transceiver and found that there was only +1.73V on the +VE. I expect that the Ripple Attenuator Module for that voltage has failed. This makes 2 units that have failed for this reason. I spoke with Dan Johnson from Destron-Fearing and we think this may just an isolated component problem. I will monitor for further failures and address them as they appear. 07/01/2000 20:05 darren@p 33:BadExcFreq,33:BadOscFreq,33:InputSyncDetect,33:LowExcCurrent,33:ReaderR eset,33:TestTagFailure: The Transceiver (coil I.D. 33) was replaced by PSMFC personnel on 6-30-00. The transceiver had lost a power supply and was not operating at all. 06/30/2000 07:55 darren@p 33:BadExcFreq,33:BadOscFreq,33:LowExcCurrent,33:TestTagFailure: It appears that transceiver may ahve failed. It could be the ripple attenuator or one of the power supplies. The transceiver will be replaced. 06/28/2000 08:12 darren@p 21:ReaderReset,22:InputSyncDetect,22:InputSyncLost,A2:TestTagFailure: $A2 System power: 11.8V Exciter power: 12.8V 00/06/27 13:56:16 $A2 Exciter current: 1.8A Signal level: 59% 00/06/27 13:56:16. This is what was seen on the transceiver status dump when test tag was failing. The test tag began working at 15:25. $A2 System power: 11.9V Exciter power: 12.8V 00/06/27 17:56:15 $A2 Exciter current: 1.8A Signal level: 5% 00/06/27 17:56:15. This is what was seen on the next status dump. This going on about the same time periodically. I do not know what is causing this. The Reader reset on transceiver 21 is what caused the sync loss on transceiver 22. This problem is being addressed by Destron-Fearing. 06/27/2000 08:22 darren@p A2:TestTagFailure: This problem is being closely monitored. The Test tag failed twice and was given the message " aborted due to system activity" once. The Status dumps for coilA3 at about 14:25 shows lots of noise. At 17:25 the test tag fires and the status dump for A2 at 17:40 shows a noise level of 2% and for coil A4 4%. I am not sure what is going on at these times but I will do some investigating. 06/26/2000 08:26 darren@p 01:ReaderReset,02:InputSyncDetect,02:InputSyncLost: Input sync lost on coil 02 was because of the reader reset. This is still being investigated by destron fearing. 06/26/2000 08:23 darren@p A2:TestTagFailure: The test tag failure was aborted once "due to system activity" and then failed. This happened once last week. It to was on the weekend. The noise levels on coils A3, A4 are high on the next status dump after test tag failed. But then returned to normal. I will investigate this week. 06/20/2000 08:27 Darren_C A General maintenance check was performed. I also checked for noise on Transceiver A2 because of the tag failures over the weekend. The timer tag had a hit rate of 100% and I could not find any obvious noise internal or external. The separator coils responded at 100 0.000000e+00fficiency. 06/20/2000 08:06 darren@p A1:ReaderReset,A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:InputSyncLost,A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:I nputSyncLost,A3:ReaderReset,A4:InputSyncDetect,A4:InputSyncLost: These alarms were generated during a PSMFC general maintenance check. I was checking transceiver A2 for noise. I believe there may be some external noise but can not locate it. I will monitor this transceiver to see if I can pinpiont the times when the noise appears. 06/18/2000 08:29 darren@p A2:TestTagFailure: Test tag could be failing because of system activity. I will check this out on monday 6/19. The message "test aborted due to system activity" was seen twice. and on the next time the test tag fired. 06/17/2000 08:30 darren@p A2:TestTagFailure: This alarm was valid until 16:36 on the 16th. The timer tag is now being seen I will monitor this alarm and see if it fails again. 06/12/2000 15:10 Darren_C A General Maintenance Check was performed to the facility. All Transceivers were checked for Noise and Current. Test sticks were thrown on the Separator coils. The efficiency was 100%. 06/09/2000 11:55 Don_Warf PLC messaging is now on. Messages include: When the sample gates open. When the sample gates close. Note that the messages will only appear in PC1's data files unless PC2 becomes the primary. 06/08/2000 08:13 darren@p A2:TestTagFailure: It appears that the Timer Tag is being fired when a status report report is being dumped to the computer. This will be monitored and if it continues to happen we will change the timing of the firing of the test tag. 06/07/2000 16:04 darren@p 21:ReaderReset,22:InputSyncDetect,22:InputSyncLost,A2:TestTagFailure: Alarms on coil 22 were generated by reader reset on coil 21. This problem is being looked at by Destron Fearing. The failure on coil A2 looks to be caused by a Tag in the feild when Test Tag was fired. This Happened at about 11:44 but did not get reported until 11:51 Because of Status Dumps from Transceivers. 06/05/2000 15:22 Darren_C A GMC was performed. All transceivers were checked for current and noise levels. Test sticks were thrown on the separators with 100% efficiencies. 06/02/2000 08:29 Darren_C A GMC was performed. All transceivers were checked for noise and current. Sticks were thrown on the separators. They responded at 100%. The site is running the "Divert During Sample". They were alternating between side A and B for sampling. I do not know when they started into this sampling. 06/01/2000 09:01 scott_li Ran Process_data.sh via telnet session.. System did not load at the scheduled interval. Not sure why.. Everything looked normal.. 05/25/2000 12:49 darren@p SLC500:CommsFailure: Alarm has been noted and will be monitored. 05/23/2000 15:43 Darren_C A General maintenance check was performed. The slide gates were looked at and adjusted because the pressure is varying from about 120 psi to 95psi. and when the pressure gets below 100psi the gates will sometimes time out on a close and then bang shut. The adjustment should be made somewhere around 105psi so that when the pressure is low there is minimal timeouts and whne the pressure is high there is minimal slamming of the gates. The coil efficiencies for all coils (Separator and Diversion) was 100%. Also the "Divert during Sample" switch is back in the "OFF" position. I do not know when this happened but after talking to some of the tagging people it sounded like it may have happened around 1a.m. yesterday (5/22/00). 05/20/2000 09:14 sco]tt_l Telnet to lmj was successful. data is being collected. 05/20/2000 08:53 scottl@p 13:InputSyncDetect,13:ReaderReset: Problem acknoledged. 05/16/2000 15:53 Darren_C A General Maintenance Check was performed. 20 Sticks were thrown on each separator and the air pressure did not go below 100 psi. The site was in 100ample until 2:30p.m. and the "Divert During Sample" was in the "On" position when I arrived on the site. I do not know when it was pit into this position or whom put inot this position. The results of the sticks thrown are as follows: A1-20 B1-20 31-19* 41-20 A2-20 B2-20 32-19* 42-20 A3-19 B3-20 33-19* 43-20 A4-20 B4-20 * one stick was missed on the A separator and there for was not seen on the diversion monitor for that side. I do not know why the stick was missed the gate operation checked out fine. I did not check the report to see if there was a "monitor" or a "skip" fish that came through at the same time. 05/16/2000 14:50 dlwarf@p A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:ReaderReset: Reader reset noted. 05/11/2000 16:10 Darren_C We were informed on Wednesday May 9, 2000 by Bill Spurgeon that the slide gate on the A side separator was not working. I arrived and talked to Bill and one of the separator operators and found that the gate was infact working ( it was probably in sample when site maintenance pressed the button to actuate the gate) but both sides were slamming and not always shutting. I adjusted the relief valves and ran 20 sticks thru each separator monitor (10 at a time). I noticed that the air pressure statred at about 115 psi and when I finished running sticks it was around 80 psi. At 80 psi the gates do not shut fully and if you adjust the valves so that they do when air pressure returns to 115 psi they will slam shut and the valves need to be adjusted again. I showed this to Bill. The facility has added 2 water valves to the air system this year and when they operate the pressure drops about 5 to 10 psi. We found that the main tank kicks in at 90 psi and shuts off at 120 psi. The air out at the gates runs about 10 psi behind that so we had somone from the corp adjust the tank so that it kicks in at 100 psi and out at 125 psi. The gate valves were adjusted at 110psi. The idea of putting a larger holding tank out at the gates was talked about or maybe adding a tank for the B side and separate the two slide gates. It seems that when the pressure drops below 90 psi the gates don't like to close and they time out and then slam shut. I infromed Bill that he should monitor the pressure and see if it stops dropping below 90 psi. The results for the stick test are as follows: A1-20 of 20 B1-20 of 20 A2-20 of 20 B2-20 of 20 A3-19 fo 20 B3-20 of 20 A4-20 of 20 B4-20 of 20 31-20 of 20 41-20 of 20 32-20 of 20 42-20 of 20 33-20 of 20 43-20 of 20 05/10/2000 10:39 Darren_C Tuesday May 9, 2000 a GMC was performed. 05/08/2000 18:00 Dave Between approximately 13:00 and 17:00 PST, none of the PIT tagged fish exiting the separator at Lower Monumental were diverted back to the river. This was due to problems encountered while attempting to remotely update the Multimon map file. This problem was resolved with the help of Sharon Lind, the LMN on-site SMP biologist. We manually stopped and re-started Multimon, and invoked a new version of the map file, LMJ55129.MAP. As of 17:00 PST, the general PIT-tagged population is being diverted to the river, as are 1 of 2 CSS fish. 05/08/2000 14:00 Dave I loaded a new map file to Lomo to address an error in LMJ00089.MAP. I had failed to provide gate instructions for the four groups of CSS fish, so that one of four fish were MONITORED, rather than actively DIVERTED to the river. I discovered my error this morning and spoke with Tom Berggren at FPC and explained the situation. He requested that I change the diversion ratio to 1 of 2 fish, effective immediately. The new map file, LMJ00129.MAP, was loaded to the LMJ computers at 13:00 PST. 05/04/2000 09:32 scott_li General maintenence check found no problems to report. One ongoing issue is that the slide gates periodically slams shut after a gate cycle. This problem seems to be attributed to the relieve exaust valve malfunction. We are in the process of sourcing a replacement valve that hopefully will provide more consistent operation. A new valve is currently being tested on the b-side slide gate at Goose and looks to be a viable replacement. Talked with Ken Fone Assis. site bio, on how to adjust this valve when the slamming occurs until a new valve is installed. 04/25/2000 08:54 darren_c We were alerted to a possible problem by Ken Fone on monday. When I arrived I was informed that the slide gate on the A Separator would not open. I was also informed that the solenoids had been replaced by Floyd (site maintenance). I checked the air pressure and solenoid actions but could not get gate to open. Scott and I tried to push the gate open. It appeared to be stuck. We finally got the gate open and discovered that it was bent. Ken dewatered the A side at approxiamtely at 12:30 p.m. and we helped floyd replace the gate. The A side was watered up at approxiamtely 3:30 p.m. Sticks were run and the gate was timed. 04/21/2000 14:41 darren_c Coil 93 stopped reporting tag information at 4:35 a.m. on 4-20. The cause of the problem was a bad fiber strand. The transceiver was put onot a spare fiber pair and communications were reestablished. Also the Sample room coils ( 51,52 ) were looked at for noise . They were turned up and retuned. Slide gates were adjusted. 04/19/2000 07:04 darren@p A1:ReaderReset,A1:RocketPortNoEOT,A2:InputSyncDetect,A2:ReaderReset,A3:Bad OscFreq,A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:InputSyncLost,A3:LowExcCurrent,A3:ReaderRese t,A3:RocketPortNoEOT,A4:BadOscFreq,A4:InputSyncDetect,A4:InputSyncLost,A4: LowExcCurrent,A4:ReaderReset: These alarms were generated by psmfc while replacing a transceiver on coil I.D. A3. The transceiver on A2 was eventually deemed the problem and replaced. 04/19/2000 07:00 darren_c Tuesday April 18, 2000 - I was working on coils A2&A3 between noon and 3 p.m.The coil I.D. AE will be seen in this report because I replaced a transceiver on coil A3 and had not noticed that the transceiver had not reloaded the parameters. Also A2 did not report because the fiber was swapped. I ran a stick test on the monitor and thats when it was noticed. I eventually replaced the transceiver on A2 and not A3 and retuned the system. The transceiver was replaced because of a sync loss problem that was noticed over the weekend on coil A3. The sync would be lost for long periods of time but then return. 04/17/2000 08:24 darren@p A3:InputSyncLost: There does not seem to be a reader reset related to this sync lost failure. I will look at the next file to see if the sync came back. I am checking into this failure. 04/17/2000 08:19 darren@p 22:InputSyncDetect,22:InputSyncLost: This alarm was caused by a reader reset on coil 21. 04/17/2000 08:18 darren@p 21:ReaderReset: Reader reset is still being looked at by destron- fearing. This also caused the lost sync on coil 22. 04/16/2000 14:59 darren@p A3:InputSyncDetect: The sync was lost sometime on saturday and was finally detected on sunday morning. I will look inot this on Monday. 04/15/2000 17:51 darren@p A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:InputSyncLost: The sync was not detected at 00:01:31 in the status dump but was detected at 2:28:08 then lost again at 3:18:08. I will check the last report and see if the sync has returned. This could be a result of the reader reset problem that Destron is looking into. 04/14/2000 08:04 darren@p A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:InputSyncLost: The input sync lost and detected is caused by the reader. I will make sure that the input sync returned to the transceiver in the next report. If not I will go out to sight and check the condition of the transceiver. 04/12/2000 09:11 darren_c April 10, 2000 Sean Casey and I ran a controlled stick test on all Monitors and Coils. All no problems were seen with the coils. There are a couple of issues that may need to addressed. The Sheilds are not to sturdy. If there is a hard rain or hail we may have a nois issue to contend with. Also noted was that when the 3-way gate is activated there is noise introduced into coil A4 this probably due to the sheilds. We tried to minimize the noise we will watch this closely. 04/12/2000 08:54 darren_c April 4, 2000 Sean Casey and I ran a controlled stick test on all coils except for the Diversion Exit (coils 91,92,93). There was no problems seen. 04/10/2000 07:17 darren@p A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:InputSyncLost: Sync lost and detected are caused by the reader reseting. This is still being addressed by Destron-fearing. 04/08/2000 09:30 scottl The B-side slide gate may need adjustment. Only one of eleven fish was successfully diverted. Will monitor and adjust if nessesary. 04/06/2000 14:05 dlwarf@p A3:InputSyncDetect,A3:InputSyncLost: Lost Sync caused by PSMFC maint. 04/06/2000 08:08 darren@p A3:InputSyncLost: The input sync lost was caused by a reader reset. This problem is still being addressed by destron fearing. 04/06/2000 18:00 Dave_Marvin I modified the IGNOR.TAG list on both PCs to include two previously- missing timer tags. 04/06/2000 18:00 Dave_Marvin The scheduled ISO fish evaluation was conducted today between 1:00 and 3:00 pm (all times reported as PDT). Facility sub-sampling was suspended during the tests. All fish exiting the separator were diverted to the river between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Normal collection, PIT diversion, and subsampling operations resumed at 3:00 pm. 04/01/2000 07:00 Dave_Marvin Lower Monumental Juvenile Facility watered up at 7:00 am. PIT tag interrogation and Separation by Code (SbyC) capabilities are enabled at water-up; the current Multimon lookup list is LMJ00089.DB. 04/03/2000 09:19 dlwarf@p A3:InputSyncDetect: Sync detect noted on coil A3.
