The PLC is connected to the the hub in the pittag room. No I/O is connected thus the PLC will not control anything, it is just being used as testing and development tool. It was replaced today with TT 3D9.0EEEEEE4E2. It was noticed that water had built up inside the monitor. A hole was drilled in the bottom to allow it to drain. The ignore.tag file on PC1 and PC2 were updated with the new tag code, and multimon was shutdown and then brought back to service. While PC2's MM was shutdown the time was brought to within 5 seconds of PC1. 12/07/2004 15:50 Troy The PLC Processor was put on UPS power today. Several AC Power ON/OFF message were written to the raw file while testing was being done. AC power was not lost at this site. The activities today had no effect on fish passage as the facility is shut down for the season. 12/02/2004 08:23 darren@r 12:TestTagFailure: Since the site is no longer bypassing fish the transceiver will be placed into "standby" until PSMFC can address the timer tag issue. 11/25/2004 08:54 Darren I noticed that LMJ had loaded since 11/22. I PCA'd into LMJ PC2 and verified that PC1 is not alive. Found that the solenoid valves had an excessive amount of oil built up in the manifolds and snubber valves. Used contact cleaner remove oil and reassembled valves, adjusted the soft close and snubber valves to increase the travel speed on the open cycle. Reduced the oilers on both A and B gates to distribute 1 drop per ~ 20 gate cycles rather than 1 per ~5. Travel open time on A side was reduced from 20 to 18. Air pressure on both gates is at 98 psi and drops down to 80 during a cycle. 09/01/2004 15:39 scottl Performed GMC, All transcievers were checked for tune and recalibrated as necessary. Noticed that the A-side slide gate was stuttering on the open cycle. Re-adjusted the exhaust snubbers and retimed gate. Adjusted travel open time from 28 to 20 after all adjustments were made. It maybe the fact that an excessive amount of oil has accumulated in the snubber and needs cleaned out or replaced. Gate diverted 3 of 3 stick tags. We felt that the gate was actually open and closed before the PITtag was reaching the gate, the fish were fighting the current, so we increased the Delay before Operate on both "A" and "B" separator monitors. The new PLC values are now: Delay before Operate: A=25 B=30 Travel Open: A=28 B=34 time Open: A=110 B=115 Travel Close: A=31 B=31. A total of 43 sticks were passed through each monitor (15 during the sample) no sticks were missed. The Divert During Sample switch was "on" for both sides during the test. 07/15/2004 08:27 PTOC_Bot In regard to recent ‘erroneous’ Sample Rates at GRA, LMJ and MCJ: These sites have experienced a problem with erroneous sample rates being written to the raw file. It has been determined that these occurrences happen during brief power outages and ‘brown outs’. The values that end up in the raw file are not enterable via the PV600 or DTAM. Limits are set in those HMI devices that will not allow the user to enter such values. Every time an erroneous sample rate shows up in the raw file it is surrounded by other PLC messages displaying their ‘reset’ state which means the PLC is either loosing power (which it hasn’t lost enough power to trip the AC POWER OFF PLC message) or the PLC has lost power which does trip the AC POWER OFF PLC message. In all cases when power is either restored or returned to its normal voltage, the proper sample rate is written to the raw file and the other PLC messages that are actually in the ‘set’ state are written to the raw file. All transceivers were checked for tuning and noise. No problems were found. I ran a stick test on the "A" and "B" separator gates and monitors, because of the low DGE efficiencies for the "A" gate this morning, I found that the flow through the "A" flume to be a little slower than the "B" side. The average of ten (10) sticks from coils 2 to 3 was taken and the results were as follows: A2-A3= 207.5 mS B2-B3= 202.7 mS All sticks were detected and diverted. As a result of this finding the "time open" for the "A" gate was increased, no other changes were made to the PLC settings, the new settings are as follows: Delay before operate: A= 5 B= 4 travel open: A= 28 B= 34 Time open: A= 115* B= 110 *previously 110 Travel close: A= 31 B= 31 The air pressure for both slide gates is at 92-94 psi and did not waiver during the stick test. It was found that the gate that broke( a new gate installed earlier this year) was hitting the bracket for the shock absorber before ever making contact with the shock absorber. The spare gate (also a new gate)had to be modified so that it did not do the same thing as the gate that broke. One of the shock absorber brackets was bent and had a cracked weld. Site maintenance personnel stratighted and re-welded the bracket. When the gate was brought back into service no timing adjustments were needed and a pittag fish was witnessed being successfully diverted. 07/08/2004 10:44 Troy B Diversion gate broke sometime between 0300 and 0400 PDT. It was discovered to be stuck open at 0630 PDT. The air was shut off and the gate manually closed by 0643 PDT. The facility continued to sample on both A and B flumes with no fish being diverted on B side until the B flume was shut off at 0945 PDT. Mechanics are currently working on repairing the gate. PSMFC personnel are aware of this "phenomenon" that generally occurs when the volume of PITtag's are elevated. 05/29/2004 13:31 Dave Diversion efficiency on the LMJ A-Separator gate went gunnywhompers last night. It appears "something happened". I don't know what. Divert-during-sample (DDS) was disabled. The A-side sample rate was 2%. Sometime during the 2100h (in LMJ04149.110) most fish destined for diversion at the A1-A4 coils were subsequently seen at the 11-13 coils, en route to the raceways. The DGE report for this period shows hourly Diversion Efficiency at 99% or better for the two hours preceding this period, and then dropping to 13% (only 14 of 104 correctly diverted during the hour, and then recovering to 82% (24 of 135 fish mis-directed) in the next hour, before returning to almost 100% Diversion Efficiency. There appear to be sample-gate anomalies during this period as well. Note that in the following snippet, tag 3D9.1BF1A287FB was detected during the Unit 1 sample in the middle of a 12-second sample. With DDS disabled, this tag should have been routed to the sample tank. The gate was getting almost all the way closed and then banging the last inch. Adjustments were made to the soft close time and diaphram valve but could not get consistent soft close. The gate would stutter the last 6 inches. The seperator operator dewatered A side for me and I removed the air. The clearences the last 6 inches were closer thus causing the gate to hang up. I attempted to increase the clearence by loosening the last 4 bolts on the left if looking downstream. Then with a 2x4 and a hammer I tried to push the guide out. After tightening the bolts back up it was still stiff towards the end but the gate now closes better and doesn't stutter the last 6 inches. I also sprayed silicon in both hoses feeding the cylinder. I removed the snubber valves and adjusted them to be equal and then re-installed them. This reduced the chatter on the open. All times but the open time had to be adjusted. The gate is working faster so the delay before op had to be increased. I threw 10 stick and all were diverted correctly. All transceivers were checked for tuning and noise. 20 Sticks were passed through "A" & "B" separator and diversion monitors with 100% detection and diversion. 04/12/2004 14:14 Darren PSMFC was on site to evaluate the condition of the timer tag on coil 12 and check transceiver 02 for a faulty fuse holder. The timer tag on coil 12 did not fire a remote command but did fire from the front panel. I repositioned the timer tag on the coil and checked the hit rate for several minutes, it was 100%, I also tried placing the transceiver in "standby" and back into "read" mode several times with no failures. PSMFC will watch for failures and take the appropriate actions. Transceiver 02 was indeed a faulty fuse holder. The fuse and holder were cleaned of all conformacoat and the fuse holder was checked and adjusted for fuse fit. The fuse was replaced and the transceiver was powered back on. 20 sticks were passed through both "A" & "B" separator and diversion monitors with 100 detection and diversion. 04/12/2004 10:25 Dave With Sharon Lind's assistance, we've bounced the LMJ-PC1 installation and re-established pcA connectivity. However, given the low numbers of CSS fish currently diverted to the river upstream from LMJ, I don't think a reboot of LMJ-PC1 is warranted at this time. What you are seeing I believe is the 'SET A' in the background. When you press the screen to set A, B or Both a pop up screen appears over 'SET B' and part of 'SET BOTH' but does not cover 'SET A'. It is hard to see that, especially at the height we had to mount that unit at. I can not do anything about the size of the pop up screen, I could however move things around on the 'OPENINGS' screen and the 'PERCENT' screen or change the color on those screens so it is easier to tell that it is a pop up is just overlaying the screen behind it. Let me know what you think and I'll be happy to do what I can. The fiberglass PLC enclosure has been replaced with a stainless steel enclosure. A PV300 has been added to replace the DTAM to allow PTOC personnel to change gate times. The gates were roughly adjusted during the intial testing done 03/11/04. No adjustments could be done today due to the compressors being shutdown. PC1 was taken out of data collection and file LMJ04072.205 was used to fill the gap. This file was then submitted manually and archived on PC2. All PLC funtions have been tested. The PLC program was modified so that AC POWER ON will make it to the raw file following a extended power outage at the site. This message will reach the file within 5 seconds of Multimon booting up when power is restored. This fix was necessary as the PLC will boot faster than Multimon will and the message was getting lost after extended power outages that resulted in the platform going down. All switches were toggled execpt for the PRIMARY BYPASS switch and the sample rate was changed from 50% to 25% and then back to 50% for Doug Clough.
