PC1 was rebooted to re-establish automated uploading at 12:51 PST
10/6/2005.
The resultant six minute file gap is not of concern as the facility is out
of operation for the season.
10/05/2005 08:13 Scott_Li
The connection the LMJ is extremely slow, site is down for the year.. PTOC
will be onsite today for other reasons and will check on status of PC,
possible reboot.
10/04/2005 14:09 Dave
I disabled site-checking in etc/sites, and updated the
ptagis3.obs_site_dates table to reflect the end of facility operations on
Oct. 1.
10/04/2005 14:00 Scott_Li
Manually submitted delinquent files from PC1 via remote access. Will
monitor
data submission from this site for reoccurring problems.

Site Bio's announcement of season shutdown at LMJ:
Don,
We ended collection on October 1 at 0700 and then chased fish from the
separator to the sample holding tanks for final processing. Water was
shut
off and the facility was drained on Monday October 3rd and all areas other
than the bypass proper are now dewatered.
As I understand it your group will be here tomorrow to begin the PIT
detection via adult release pipe project. Looking forward to your
arrival.
See you then.

Manually pushed LMJ05262.102 to PTAGIS via PCA. PTTP Uploader reported:
Error transmitting PTTP package:Operation interrupted.
Examination of the hold directory shows that the file did indeed transfer.
PTAGIS Field Operations will continue to monitor.

PC1 was 00:00:54 ahead and PC2 was 00:02:42 behind. Both clocks were
adjusted and are now within one second of atomic time. LMJ05214.208 was
manually submitted from PC2 to fill the gap during PC1's downtime.
Multimon is running full screen on both PCs. No other problems found.

The original version of my LMJ05201.907 patch file did not contain the
proper header line to establish when the file was activated. I added this
line:
Opened C:\MULTIMON\PC1DATA\LMJ05201.907 at 05/07/20 19:15:01
to the file, and modified the CLOSE tag to better synchronize with the
OPEN tag in the subsequent LMJ05201.108 file, and then resubmitted the
modified patch file. The edited patch file was reprocessed by PTAGIS at
10:21 on July 22. No new detection or operational data were added.

An extended power outage, beginning at ~18:57 (PST)on July 20, resulted in
the truncation of LMJ05201.107 some time after 19:15, and a 28-minute gap
in data collection on LMJ-PC1. Fortunately, the UPS on LMJ-PC2 outlasted
the power outage, and I was able to retrieve the LMJ05201.207 file and
extract and data for the missing interval on LMJ-PC1. I programmatically
closed LMJ05201.107, and uploaded the LMJ05201.907 patch file. Because of
a minor framing shift in the files, there is a 3-minute gap between my
patch file and the subsequent LMJ05201.108 file. There was no fish or PLC
data reported during this remaining 3-minute gap.

I have not heard from anyone at WW district to confirm the completion time
for the server replacement. I will post more when I have a confirmation.

All Walla Walla district sites have not loaded. I contacted site
personnel at LMJ and confirmed there was no outside connection. They
stated that the district is changing out the server. I am trying to
contact Dave Desmaris to get a time frame for the replacement to be
completed.
06/25/2005 08:54 Darren
I have tried to PCA into the sites but I am unable to get through. I
suspect there is a problem in the district network and will wait to see
if the sites load this afternoon, if not I will try to verify the
problem with Pete Peterson.

contact to PC2, but could no re-connect to PC1. I called Monty Price
(WDFW-SMP) and had him reboot PC1. I was then able to pcA into PC1, and
transfer MultiMon control back to PC1 from PC2, and upload the 'active'
data files to PTAGIS. I noticed at least two 'SLC Comm' errors that
occurred outside any intervals when both PCs were simultaneously vying for
gate control. All appears to be well now.

Loaded a modified PLC program with the blessing of the site Bio.No new or
different functionality was added. The message instruction was moved to
the end of the program. PSMFC will monitor the sample settings to see if
any more erroneous sample rates are recorded by multimon. Loaded modified
PV300 and PV600 programs as well. Site personell were informed that the
sample is still the same but is 2 min 20 sec's behind what they are
normally used to. They will take care of resetting it to their liking.
Verifed communications between the PLC and multimon and that everything is
working as it should. All looks well.

A site visit was made 5/26/2005. It was noticed that the A separator gate
diversion efficiency had dropped to 92%. It was also noticed that the B
separator gate diversion efficiency had dropped to 75%.
The gates were checked mechanically. The A gate snubber was adjusted for a
smoother soft close. The B gate Travel Close time was lowered from 30 to
26 and it's snubber was adjusted to improve the close cycle for that gate.
The water level in the B flume had dropped in the last week. According to
site personel, they normally keep the water at ~2" in front of the
monitor. It had dropped to ~1/2". This allowed fish to more easily swim
back upstream, avoiding diversion. During testing, site personnel lowered
the water back to about 1/2" and the fish could be observed doing just
that. The water level was restored to it's normal ~2" level and the gate
was stick tested. All 40 sticks diverted properly.
The A gate was also stick tested and it was noticed that the gate opened
well before the stick arrived. The Delay Before Operation was increased
from 0 to 45. 40 sticks were thrown, all diverted properly.
A discussion was had with site personnel about maintaining proper flow
levels.
The air pressure is currently 95psi on both A and B gate. Current gate
time settings are:
Gate A

Time Open 130
Travel close 30

DGE inciated that the diversion efficiency for the B-slide gate was at 67
percent. Stick test indicated that the delay before operate setting was
too short. Adjusted the B-Slide gate, Delay Before Operate timer from 15
to 50. All 20 sticks were successfully diverted. Results below.

Air Pressure on both Gates set at ~ 98 psi.
Per site personell, No significant changes were made to the water velocity
thru the B-flume. The water velocity in the A flume is significantly
faster than that of the B-flume, Hence the drastic differences in Delay
Before Op on A vs B.
Verified the Multimon App. on both computers are running in a DOS full

Sharon Lind provides the following information regarding Lower Monumental
JFF operations. Fish were bypassed back to the river at Lower Monumental
for extended periods between May 9 and May 15. On Monday, May 9, the
raceways were drained back to the river starting at 1400h (1pm PST) and
all fish crossing the separator (or returned from the sample room) after
that time were also routed to the river (secondary bypass). The drained
raceways contained fish that had been collected and held since between
1500h and 2000h on Sunday, May 8. There are no PIT tag monitors on the
routes between the raceways and the river exit, and so the final
disposition for tagged fish returned to the river most likely refers to
"A-Raceway" or "B-Raceway". The facility remained in secondary bypass
until 1200h on Friday, May 13. (During this period, PIT-tagged fish were
supposedly "diverted" to or from the raceways, but all fish were
ultimately returned to the river through a route interrogated by a PIT tag
monitor.) Collection for transportation resumed as 1235h on May 13.
However, on Saturday, May 14, fish were diverted back to the river from the
switch gate upstream of the separator (primary bypass) from 0210 - 1235h,
and again on Sunday, May 15 between 0800h and 1300h. No fish enter the JFF
during primary bypass; consequently, there are no PIT tag detections of any
fish during these periods. Outside of the primary bypass episodes during
these two days, all fish, including PIT-tagged fish, were routed over the
separator and collected for transportation or diverted back to the river
per "normal" operations.
05/16/2005 12:27 Darren
A site GMC was performed today (5-16-05) all transceivers were checked for
noise and tuning, the diversion gates were checked for operation but no
test sticks were passed through the monitors because of the volume of fish
. I spoke with Ken Phone and Bill Spurgeon about any incidances that may
have occured on Sunday afternoon, During a check this morning of the
reports it was noticed that the Primary Bypass indicator had changed
states from "open" to "close" at 11:58 yesterday and at 12:00 we received
another "close" state but there was no "open", This can happen if the PLC
loses power for a short period. to the knowledge of the staff there was no
power loss. PSMFC will chek into this and post more when it is available.
there are no problems with diversion at this time.

A GMC was performed 5/13/2005. All transceivers were tuned. No sticks were
thrown at the separator due to the high numbers of fish at the facility.
The A and B separator gates were observed diverting fish and all is well.
The air pressure on the A gate is currently 105psi. The air pressure on
the B gate is currently 93psi.
The A and B river exits (antennas 81, 82 and 01, 02 respectively) have
been used lately. The facility has been in and out of secondary bypass due
to not enough barge capacity. The CEA report has shown poor efficiency for
transceiver 01. 20 sticks were thrown in that monitor with both
transceivers reading 20/20 sticks. PTAGIS Field Operations will continue
to monitor.
Both computers are running Multimon in full screen mode. No problems
found.

Spoke with Bill Spurgeon this morning and he reported that the shaft of
A Gate had come loose from it's trunion. It was discovered around 16:20
and fixed by 17:15. Looking at the DGE report it appears that the gate
malfunctioned sometime in the 13:00 hour.
B gate is expected to be taken down today and locktite put on it so it
does not experience the same failure.

I managed to lock up trusty ol' WinCmd (4.5) today, while FTP'ing the
current database to LMJ-PC2. First time I can recall that this has ever
happened on any machine, local or remote. John showed me how to access
'taskman' from a command prompt, and I was able to kill one of the two
WinCmd processes that were running, but I couldn't terminate the parent
app. Fortunately, I had complete access to MultiMon, which was running
just fine. I closed the current data file and exited normally from
MultiMon, and then remotely rebooted the machine. When the machine came
back up, I was able to invoke WinCmd without any problems, deleted the
partial download, completed a new FTP session and transferred the new DB
file without incident. Everything worked out OK. No data were lost.
LMJ-PC1 had complete control of the gates during this snafu. There was
some clock drift when I rebooted, so I took this opportunity to synch both
LMJ clocks to atomic time.

A site GMC was performed 04/12/05.
All transceivers were checked for tune. B2 and B3 had lost their sync,
turning off the trasceivers did not re-sync them. The sync cable between
B3 and B2 was exchanged with the sync cable between B3 and B4. All 4 are
now synced.
The loose flex that was disconnect last week was taped to the adjacent
flex. This monitor is still taking on water and most likely will until the
joint is fixed. The drain holes are clear and doing their job.
A and B gates were tested with 30 sticks. All sticks were diverted

PSMFC while trying to isolate which breaker controls power to the raceway
river exit monitor. Repairs were being made to a leaky monitor.
04/08/2005 16:45 Alan_Bro
The abandoned monitor just downstream from the A river exit (81 and 82)
has a leak where the monitor and the raceway meet at the downstream end.
The silicon caulking worked it's way into the path of fish and was removed
by site personnel, thus causing the leak. The abandoned monitor took on
water which ran down the flexible conduit into the abandoned 30x30. The
water from the 30x30 filled the rigid conduits that carry power from a
pull box, also putting water into that pull box. The water then filled two
other power conduits.
The flexible conduit was disconnected at the abandoned monitor, removing
the water source. With the help of site personnel, breakers 5, 8, and 9 at
panel JR6 (PIT Tag room) were opened to disconnect the live circuits
involved from 14:08 to 14:16. Collaterally, transceivers 11, 12, 13, 21,
22, 23, 31, 32, 33, 81 and 82 were without power during that time. The
rigid conduits were vacuumed dry and all other water was removed.
We will contact the site bio next week about the disposition of the still
leaking waterway. PIT Tag equipment is currently out of harm's way.
A GMC was performed. All transceivers were tuned.
The air pressure is currently 98psi.

I pcA'd in and stopped, and then immediately restarted, MultiMon, to
adjust the file creation times on both PCs. These had been shifted
forward an hour due to Daylight Savings Time. Stopping and restarting
data collection will reset the creation times to 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, and
12:00. This is a documented phenomenon with the MultiMon software. I
pushed the outstanding file from PC1 to the PTAGIS server. I did not
adjust the PC clocks.

seconds of atomic time. This site is configured for the following SbyC
activity:
CSS: Two-thirds of first detections (AC11-16) to be routed to the raceways
for transport; all fish previously-detected upstream (AC21-26) to be
returned to the river.
NPT stocks, Stanley Basin sockeye, Grande Ronde Basin steelhead, and
Touchet and Tucannon river steelhead - All of the fish in these groups
(AC42-45, AC46, AC49, and AC47, respectively) will be routed to the
