The ignor.tag file was not immediately updated. While the file was being updated remotely PC1 locked up with the blue screen, I was unable to get in touch with any site personnel. The file was changed on PC2 and it was collecting data and diverting fish. This morning I had site personnel reboot PC1 and I began the patching process. The 272.106 file closed at 15:35:50 and the 272.207 file opened at 15:42. The 273.203 file closed at 06:08:18 and the 273.103 file opened at 06:09:20. All transceivers were checked and adjusted for tuning, noise and detectability. 10 sticks were passed through both the "A" and "B" separator gates with 100% detection and diversion. The problems with the timer tag on antenna 52 a few days ago were caused by the fuse holder on F1 spreading with the heat and causing an arc between the fuse and the holder, enough carbon had built up on the fuse to cause the system to shut down for a few hours, it has been normal for the past two days. The fuse and the holder were cleaned and the holder was adjusted. N7:1 = N7:5 N7:2 = N7:6 N7:3 = N7:4 This was done to find out what is causing the erroneous messages that occasionally appear. PSMFC will watch it for a few months and if no erroneous messages appear then it will be safe to say that the Pentium 4's were the culprit. If we see erroneous messages then we will remove the 5 second re-send again at that point. Comm's between the PLC and Multimon were verified. The gates were tested and the Sep Op was asked to change the water flow on B side which he did. Sticks were hitting the downstream edge of the gate prior to the adjustment. A small adjustment was made the soft close regulator. 10 sticks were thrown on A gate, 21 were thrown on B gate (one while sample was on). Dave, I set the path in Total Commander to the LMJ directory on the FTP server for PC1. 07/07/2010 12:54 Darren A site GMC was performed today (7-7-10). All transceivers were checked and adjusted for tuning, noise, and detectability. The PC clocks are within 1 second of each other and atomic time. The files on PC2 were archived. The efficiencies on the "A" separator gate had fallento 93%, upon further investigation the major cause was a burst of by-catch at about 03:00 CPU time this morning. I adjusted the gate "open" time from 100 to 97, I also spoke with the separator operator and it was logged that the separator was cleaned around the same time. We will monitor the gate efficiencies and make any neccessary adjustments. No problems were discovered during this visit. 07/07/2010 10:57 Dave Updated database to LMJ10188.DB. A and B gates were checked for proper operation and 10 sticks were thrown on each. All sticks were read on the appropriate coils and all sticks were diverted properly. While on site it was discovered that the PLC messages were not being written to Multimon. This was corrected by taking the program off line, removing the timeout in the MSG instruction and re-downloading the program. This resulted in an extra sample taking place. IT SHOULD BE NOTED that since 2010/06/02 12:30:31 there have been no PLC messages written to the raw files. On that date the sample rate was 5%, today it is 1%. I confirmed with Smolt monitoring personnel that the sample rate changed to 1% on 2010/06/04 15:00. PLC messaging appears to be back to normal. The failure unfortunately coincides with an attempt to eliminate the erroneous sample rates and switch settings that have been reported for this site. I had Internet connection when I arrived and was able to check hobbit which still showed LMJ as red. I cycled power on the sonic wall and still red on hobbit. I clicked on conn on hobbit, then views - All non green view, which showed that the system went from red to green seconds before I start to dig into the hobbit page. The upstream mechanical clamp on the FF was tightened further. The noise on 01 is slightly elevated in regard to the other 3 FF antennas. Both gates were checked for proper operation and no adjustments were required. 10 sticks were thrown on both gates and it was found that some sticks on B side were hitting the down stream edge of the gate opening. The separator operator made adjustments and each adjustment was tested with 5 sticks each. One stick was not diverted due to sample becoming active. 07:00 on 5-4-10. At 07:00 on 5-4-10 they will begin to collect for transport. 04/22/2010 12:05 Darren A site GMC was performed today (4-22-10). All transceivers were checked for tuning, noise, and detectability. Special attention was given to the full flow system 01. I made some changes to the RF clamps on the upstream side, which had become a little loose on the pipe, by tighten the hold downs so that the clamp would not move when lightly touched. I also moved the antenna cable from RF clamp and attached it to the foam wall thus removing it from touching the pipe or the RF clamp. I then went through the tuning procedure and completely tuned the transceiver, I had to adjsut the calibration of the current so it will appear that the current jumped way up when in fact it was always close to 6.0A. I was able to quiet the system but not remove the occassional spiking that we have been experiencing. Set Sonicwall VPN proposal to "aggressive mode" so that the VPN tunnel is more persistent in renegotiating the tunnel in the event of a power outage or the DSL line/connection becomes unavailable. Acid tested the new configuration and it appears that this configuration will be more solid and reliable in adverse situations. Performed site GMC, today is not a collection day, "Fish Over The Separator". Retuned Full Flow antennas and cycled gates. Gate are working smoothly with no problems observed. PC clocks are within 17 seconds of each other and PC1 lags atomic time by 12 seconds. Archived all files on PC2. and the Sonicwall restoring internet connectivity. It was immediately appearent that the scheme in which they suggested, IP public pass through, was the same operating configuration that we were using prior to replacing the modem. Bottom line, I talked with Chris Mathews at TH's and we have came up with a plan to completely re address the entire DSL/VPN/WAN addressing scheme that would effectively make the DSL modem responsible for the PPPoE authentication process rather than the firewall. The older style Comtrend modem would not have allowed us to implement this scheme due to limited capabilities of that modem. The newly installed Westel has much more flexible and indepth configuration capabilities that will allow for more complicated routes, etc.. By resolving this issue and taking the time to work through it will pay off in the long run due to the fact that the GOJ DSL installation will need to be configured the same way. Don, you may want to set aside a day early next week if possible for me to come back up and work with Chris to once and for all resolve this issue. Tuned the FF antennas, xcvr 01 at the time of the visit was relatively quiet and required very little tuning. The noise levels are still flunctuating abit but not nearly as bad as previously seen. Cycled slide gates, gate are operating very smooth and quiet. Found a problem in the logic and fixed it. This was the result of the ethernet upgrade this winter and not getting the latest and greatest PLC program from the old PLC. Found some issues with the HMI's that didn't show up during the install because there were no gates to test when the installation was completed (gates were out for winter maintenance). All issues appear to be cleared up now. 20 sticks were thrown on both gates after the timing was adjusted. Below are the gate times followed by the stick tag results. There was the thought that the antenna cable touching the pipe could have been causing this but isolated the cable from the pipe and problem still exists. Tried installing new capacitor bank but the value of the replacement was ~ 200 pf lower than required and could not add enough capacitance in the xcvr to tune the unit. It maybe also the fact that the antenna Q is too high and that by lowering the Q may add some immunity to this problem. Although this issue exists, the detection rate for this antennna is still extremely high. Will discuss with crew. Cleared trouble light on A gate. Error displayed "Sensor A indicates that A gate is stuck closed". Cycled gate numerous times and no problems were detected, gate was operating very smoothly and consistent. Did notice that the A-sensor is covered in water and building up moss, not sure if this can be attributed to the false error reading or not. A different transceiver was tried and the results were similar with the occasional noise spike into the 50's and 60's so the original transceiver was put back in. The coil was inspected and the wires to the exciter cable from the coils had freed themselves from the beutel tape. These were pinned back down but it was difficult to tell if this had any effect. There is no smoking gun as to what is causing the higher than usual noise spikes. PMSFC will monitor and investigate further if the need arises. The utility machine was fixed, firewall shut off, window defender shut off and PCA configured and tested from Kennewick. PLC logic was added so that there is a 2 min delay after AC Power is restored before an attempt to write this to the raw file and send an email is attempted. When arrived there were no signs of DSL disconnect, modem appeared to be in a normal state. Accessed the Sonicwall and the VPN tunnel to Sellwood was not connected.Rebooted modem , waited for the link to come up then rebooted the Sonicwall and connection was restored. The logging in the Sonicwall did not provide any information that would be usefull in determining what caused the outage. Will look into expanding the logging capabilities. Talked with Centurylink about getting an additional I/P address. They indicate that the current IP address would be invalid and we would have to reconfigure the routing which is not a big deal. This process of getting 2 new IP's would allow us to not use PPPoE authentication which is believed to be causing the intermittent outages. This is only speculation but it makes perfect sense. Did not order the new IP's as of yet, it will take ~ 5 working day's for Centurytel to issue them and at that time , unless we schedule this change for a specific date the system would go down do to an invalid IP route. The issue was that an appearent power outage outlasted the UPS power on the platform.After power was restored, the Sonicwall FW came up online before the DSL modem could link up (the DSL modem takes about 3 minutes to establish connection, the Sonicwall is almost immediate). At this point, the Sonicwall tried to athenticate the PPPoE connection through CenturyTel and could not. Then after the DSL modem was up, the Sonicwall never retried to re-establish the tunnel to the Sellwood office. As a precaution, verified with CenturyTel that the static address for the DSL modem had not changed and could not. The 47 files in the PTTP que on PC1 was archived and not submitted to the database. These files have no fish data beings that the enitre site is dewatered.
