EVENT LOG FOR SITE LTR The first line of each entry contains a date/time stamp & who is reporting. The most recent entry is listed first. Date Time Who ---------- ----- -------- 12/29/2010 11:30 DFW Down loaded data and cleared buffer on 12/29/2010 @ about 1106. Antenna #6 doesn't appear to be functional but everything else seems to be normal. High flows on 12/22/2010 created higher than normal noise levels. 12/16/2010 15:05 DFW Down loaded data and cleared buffer on 12/13/2010 @ about 1430. The TEG was not running and the last data entry was @ 2255 on 12/01/2010. The cause of the TEG malfunction is a mystery but it probably had something to do with the lack of routine maintenance on my part. There was still plenty of propane left in the tanks and the generator fired right up when I attempted to re-start it. I took this opportunity while the TEG was down to make some repairs and modifications to the propane manifold and regulators. There will be a gap in the data starting on 12/01/2010 at about 2255 until 12/13/2010 @ about 1445, I'm not sure of the exact restart time until my next download. 12/16/2010 14:17 DFW Down loaded data and cleared buffer on 11/18/2010 @ about 1516. As noted before antenna #6 is still non-functional but everything else appears to be normal. 12/16/2010 14:01 DFW Data download and buffer cleared on 10/25/2010 at about 1215. Everything appears to be fine except starting on 10/13/2010 @ about 2305 until present antenna #6 started showing a higher level of noise interference and the amps started to drop. I checked the plug ends and did a manual tune with little or no change to the noise or amp levels. We were unsuccessful at getting #6 to read a test tag. At this time antenna #6 appears to be non-functional. 12/16/2010 13:16 DFW Data downloaded and buffer cleared about 1230 on 10/12/2010. This is the first download at the new site. Everything appears to be working fine. I wanted to make a note that the antenna configuration was changed when we moved the array upstream. Configuration is from upstream looking down; left bank towards right bank antenna #1 and #3, middle set of antenna's right bank towards left bank #5 and #6 and bottom or lower set is left bank towards right bank #2 and # 4. Each set of antenna's falls short of reaching the opposite bank by about 2 meters or less and the top row is approximately 3 meters above the middle row and the bottom row is about 3 meters below the middle row. 10/22/2010 11:36 DEDLOFF Data downloaded and buffer cleared on 9/29/10 around 8:30 AM. Site was dismantled and moved upstream near the HWY 261 Bridge. New site was established and antennas were working again by 2:00 PM that same afternoon. No problems were encountered during the move and the antennas at the new site were all working fine with good read ranges. 10/22/2010 11:32 DEDLOFF Went out to site on 9/20/10. Downloaded data. Data collection stopped on 9/1/2010 from lack of power due to a leak in the propane lines. Propane bottles were all refilled and the system was started back up on 9/20/10. Antennas were re-tuned and everything was working correctly after power was restored. 10/22/2010 10:57 DEDLOFF Downloaded data and cleared buffer on 8/12/2010. Everything appears to be fine. 10/22/2010 10:55 DEDLOFF Downloaded data on 7/13 at 13:15 hours. All was fine but very lows flows in river. Antenna # was completely out of the water and # 2 and # 4 were partially out of the water. 10/22/2010 10:53 DEDLOFF Downloaded data, erase buffer, everything appears to be working fine. 10/22/2010 10:53 DEDLOFF Downloaded data and cleared buffer, everything appears to be working fine. 10/22/2010 10:52 DEDLOFF From 5/10 to 5/24 buffer was mistakenly disabled, was turned back on on 5/24 at about 10:00 am. Went back out on 5/25 and downloaded data, replaced lithium battery. Everything seem to be working fine. 10/22/2010 10:49 DEDLOFF Download and erase buffer, no problems. 10/22/2010 10:49 DEDLOFF Downloaded and erased buffer, no problems 04/22/2010 12:24 Joe Array was checked on 4/16/10 around 12:30. Data was downloaded off the buffer, but the buffer was not cleared as there was some question as to when the download stopped (no new data was present after about 3:30AM on the morning of the 16th). Array was again checked on the 4/21/10, the data off the buffer was downloaded again, with the data collection stopping on 4/16/10 around 3:30 AM. MUX was shut down and restarted at about 12:30PM on 4/21/10, so there was about 5 days of no data recording. MUX appears to be working fine again. Noise on antennas may be due to debris from higher stream flows, will attempt to clean as river comes down. 03/11/2010 07:05 Joe Downloaded Data and Cleared Buffer. All systems looked O.K., no loss of data for the time period. Adjusted a few settings on MUX (unique delay, noise gain, and antenna gain). Antenna 4 appears to have a leak or something else as Amps are low, will continue to monitor. 02/18/2010 14:46 Joe_B Downloaded data from 2/08/10 to 2/18/10. Buffer was accidentally turned off from 2/16/10 @11:30 until 2/18/10 at 10:15 AM (~2 days). Date and Time were checked and reset to match the new dedicated computer we have to use. Got on phone with USFWS (Vancouver) and they helped re-tune the antennas. One antenna is not working very well (small read range), and another has a fair amount of noise, but is still working O.K. Worked through some of the details and set up plans for a site visit in March to check out some things. 02/09/2010 09:45 Joe_Bumg Interrogation data from 1/7/2010 to 1/19/2010 was sent to PTAGIS on 2/9/2010. Buffer on MUX was not erased since this was the first time WDFW had downloaded the data. After download, we ran some test tags over the antennas to check operation, about 1:30 PM. Went to site on 2/4/2010. Site had lost power because propane went out. Also, Lithium battery in MUX was dead, so no data was stored in the buffer. Therefore, no interrogation data is available from 1/19/2010 (13:11 PM) until 2/4/2010 (11:30 AM). Filled one Propane bottle and reestablished power to site, also replaced Lithium Battery (CR2032) in MUX. Visited Site on 2/8/2010 to check unit. Downloaded data and noticed that dates were incorrect (data was showing from 2/2 to 2/6 when it should have showed 2/4 to 2/8). Reset Date and Time on MUX, and downloaded data at 13:16 PM. Buffer cleared. Interrogation data submitted to PTAGIS on 2/9/2010 Joe Bumgarner WDFW - Snake River Lab Dayton, WA 99328 509-382-1710 01/08/2010 09:38 Carrie Interrogation data for LTR dates 11/17/2009 throu 11/22/2009. The antenna was out of service from noon 11/22/2009 until 1/7/2009. The maintenance and data collection responsibilities for the LTR site are being transferred from the USFWS Idaho Fishery Resource Office to the WDFW Snake River Lab effective immediately.
