1994 Event Log MCJ -- McNary Juvenile ==================================================== 12/06/94 Site was watered down for the season at 7:00am this morning. -Warf- 11/21/94 Site was watered down today at 10:30 for the removal of the A side slide gate. It was watered back up at 2:35pm. -Warf- 11/18/94 Replaced exciter for coils 18 and 1A. Coils were down for two hours, starting at 11:10am. -Warf- 11/17/94 Site was shut down at 8:35am and powered back up at 9:50am for R.F. testing. -Warf- 11/16/94 Site was shut down at 9:47am and powered back up at 2:21pm for R.F. testing. -Warf- 11/15/94 Site will be shut down on and off for the next three days for R.F. testing. Times down will be noted at a later date. -Warf- 10/26/94 Corrected loose power connection causing continuous self tests on controller 63. -Warf- 8/29/94 Site personnel report a power outage at the site on 8/24/94 at 12:30pm to 1:30pm. -Warf- 8/23/94 System was shut down for testing of new equipment at 2:00pm to 2:30pm. -Warf- 8/21/94 System was shut down for addition of new controllers and recabling from 9:30am to 4:00pm. Moved coils 4C and 4E from controller 63 to 66, coils 48 and 4A from controller 65 to 62, coils 50 and 52 from controller 67 to 66. This was done to conform to the coil configuration map produced by Carter Stein. -K. Ross- 8/20/94 System was shut down for cable rerouting from 2:45 to 3:35 PM. -K. Ross- 8/18/94 System was shut down for the addition of new equipment at 2:42 to 6:30pm. -Warf- 8/17/94 System was shut down for the addition of new equipment at 1:28 to 1:43pm. -Warf- 8/15/94 Note: Controller 63 has had a intermittent problem that started around 8/8/94 and lasted untill 8/12/94 when it was replaced. This was possibly caused by the short power outages on 8/8/94 and 8/9/94. -Warf- 8/09/94 Site personnel report the site had a power outage that started at 16:07 and lasted until 16:15. on 8/9/94. -Warf- 8/08/94 Site personnel report the sample rate is at 50%. -Warf- 8/08/94 Reset main computer that was locked up after a planned power outage this morning at 6:00 to 6:21. -Warf- 7/29/94 System checks out fine and tags read at approx. 90% per coil. -OHRN- 7/29/94 The system has been watered up again and I will run stick tests to make sure the system is functional. -OHRN- 7/27/94 System is still dewatered. Brad Eby feels it should be back on-line 7/27 or 7/28. Configured 24 pin printers for the system there. Installed the new printers and I will be taking the old ones up to Granite. Will be checking the system for coil efficiency when it is watered back up. River release tunnels will not be back on-line until Tuesday 8/2 when housings come back from the fabricator per Dennis @ Harcon. -OHRN- 7/18/94 Talked to Brad Eby. Found out the site was put in emergency bypass on 7/16/94 at 8:15pm, because of a high water temp problem. Water up will take place when the temps come down. -Warf- 7/13/94 Visited for meeting. Found site watered down for repairs. Also shut down the B river release tunnel for modifications. Will fire it back up early next week. Site personnel report the site will be watered back up around 5:00pm. -Warf- 6/17/94 Visited for maint. Found the timer tag for coil 50 has a code different from what is in the database. Will notify Stein. Everything else checks ok. -Warf- 6/10/94 13:06 I called Connie Hampton (COE McNary) and learned that: McNary was de-watered for two days Beginning at around 10:30 on Tuesday (6/7/94) through Wednesday (6/8/94) around 8:30 PM. In order to do maintenence on collection channel mechanics (methods to regulate flow, etc.). In addition, it should be noted that fish have been bypassed to the river through the barge loading line due to high numbers and concern regarding the capacity of the new river release flumes when large numbers of fish are being moved. Consult the COE log books for specific details regarding barging/river release events. -Stein- 6/02/94 Visited for maint. Everything checks ok. -Warf- 5/31/94 On Saturday, 5/28/94 10:10:54 PST at McNary, a power failure on the detection electronics occured. This is indicated in the mcj94148.a observation file. Data for the following Sunday and Monday was not collected until the problem was corrected on Tuesday morining after the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Initial indications show that a circuit overload tripped a breaker. Warf acquired several extension cords and balanced the electronics load over several circuits to prevent the problem from recurring. -Stein- 5/26/94 Both river release tunnels are now in operation. Work at the site has stopped due to lack of parts from Destron. -Warf- 5/14/94 Ran TEST_UPLOAD on main computer. Worked fine. Files from previous collection already uploaded at midnight. 5/12/94 Ran stick tests on tunnels off of separator, no tuning needed. Data line is now operational. -Warf- 5/02/94 Uploaded files. 4/27/94 Found coil 00 down. Found loose connection inside exciter and repaired. -Warf- 4/22/94 MCJ94109.A, MCJ94110.A, MCJ94110.B Uploaded to kross directory from Lower Monumental. -Ross- 4/22/94 Brad says phones may be installed next week. Marsh work is completed. Data files uploaded by PSMFC manually. 4/21/94 MCJ94105.A re-loaded. On 4/20/94 the Corps dewatered the separator at MCJ for about 4 hours. In the process of doing this they left several fish high and dry in the flumes. There were several in the detector tunnels that were read multiple times. I observed tagcodes that were bad reads (ex. 7F750D346A following 7F7F0D346A). We also set one of the controllers to a 4 second delay before printing. It had been inadvertantly set to 0. This is probably what was causing the larger file sizes. We also fixed one coil in the sample room that was not recording anything. There was a broken wire in the controller connecting the signal cable to the reader card. We have logged all this in the book at McNary. 4/18/94 Site watered up on 04-08-94. First sample take 04-09-94. PIT Tag detectors turned on 04-11-94. No phone lines installed yet. --Stein-- 8/10/94 Observation file mcj94221.a would not load because of an incorrect closing stamp (it was missing). so i modified one myself so it would load the data that was contained in that file (it did have observations). ===============------ EOF MCJ ---===================
