Two which was intentional, and one which was not. Times and duration are below. 0942-0957 planned. 16 min. 1049-1107 unplanned. 18 min. 1310-1318 planned. 8 min. After one of these outages, SMP called to inform us that the exciter for A-seperator coil 50,52. was not functioning. Traveled to the site and reset the power supply to bring it back online. Also checked on why no timer tags are firing for the sample room monitor Could not find the root cause and manually fired them o.k. Stick tested the A and B Sub-sample monitors. results are below. A-Sub. coil 30,32,34 all detected 10 of 10 stick tags. B-Sub. coil 36,38,3A all detected 8 of 8 Stick tags. Also checked on the river 2 tunnel coil 4A. Showed no visual indication of why the low efficiency. Stick tests are not possable. 08/30/96 16:18 scottl General maintenence check found no problems. A physical inspection confirmed the failure. All of the pneumatics and controls where functioning properly indicating mechanical failure or a debree hinderence. Physically opened gate with a 2x4, turned air back on and tested extensivley. It is suspected that debree was caught in the rails although this was not confirmed. The supply air pressure is at 85 psi. This is the maximum psi that can be obtained from the main supply. Will follow up and see if this can be brought up to around 95psi or above. 100 psi is optimum. The gate was inoperative from approx. 1400 to 1800 hrs. 08/12/96 08:01 dlwarf Smolt Monitoring personel report the site down due to debris from 7:45am to 3:15pm on 8/11/96. 07/31/96 09:58 dlwarf Site was watered up at 12:00 noon yesterday. Found coils 50 and 52 down due to a loose connection at the exciter. General maintenance check found no other problems. 07/25/96 17:15 jen today the p.c. at mcnary was rebooted and the monitor program is running again. we will be downloading files tonight with only timing tags in them as the facility is still de-watered. It is set to be watered up on 7/31/96 as far as we know. 07/24/96 08:43 scottl On 7/18/96 the old efficiency reports indicated that the B-slide gate was not diverting fish. A visual inspection found that debri was caught in the tracks of the gate hindering operation. Forced gate open to clear debri and resumed normal operation. 07/24/96 08:31 scottl Per Brad Eby, the facility was switched to primary bypass at approx. 0200 hrs on 7/21/96 due to the excessive debri in the system. Site personnel will call when the system is watered up and collecting for transport. 07/23/96 09:39 carters SMP (Hillson) reports that the McNary bypass facility was de-watered on Sunday afternoon due to debris build up in fish flumes. 07/16/96 15:16 scottl Worked on improving the efficiency of coil 54 (B-seperator).After extensive testing and troubleshooting, the problem looked to be a combination of the reader card and controller backplane. The final stick tag test results are below. Coil 54 detected 20 of 20 tags. The facility was switched again to primary bypass on 7/9/96 at 1000 hrs and should resume operation at approx. 1600 hrs 7/9/96. The reasons for the above was due to excessive debree. Traveled to the site for tuning of seperator tunnels and was notified of the situation.Will return for general maintenence when the system is stable. 07/04/96 05:18 scottl Stick tests indicated that the B-seperator slide gate need re-timed. Timed coils individually to ensure proper operation. Stick tested B-seperator at 100 percent efficiency. all coils detected 20 of 20 stick tags. Found that the loop tuner for coil 50 was not working. Replaced loop tuner. Stick test showed low efficiency on coils 52,00,02. Retuned all coils to 400 Khz and stick tested the monitor. The final results are as follows. Coil 50 read 20 of 20 sticks. coil 52 read 19 of 20. coil 00 read 19 of 20. coil 02 read 19 of 20. Stick tests on the B-Separator showed below normal efficiency. Removed all exciter covers to help dissipate heat during the summer months. Per Brad Eby, The facility should be back in operation late this afternoon. PSMFC field personnel removed excess silicon from the joints in the flume sections above the A and B seperator detection monitors. This was done to minimize the turbulence of the water entering the monitors to try and improve efficiency on the upstream coils. 06/04/96 15:49 dlwarf Received a call from the Smolt Monitoring personel that the site would begin collecting for transport this morning at 7:00am. Slide gates were turned on at 7:20am by PSMFC with the COE's permission. Retuned all diversion and raceway coils. Replaced exciter for coils 24 and 26 due to a burnt capaciter. These are all final stick tests run after all tuning and repairs have been made. 05/29/96 23:19 scottl B-seperator gate, coil 56: Found connections between loop tuner and coil very corroded and rusty. Reworked connections. Tune on coil was at 402, Tuned to 400. Also checked adjacent coil,(50) connections for corrosion. Checked all associated connectors and solder joints. Ran string tests on coils 50,52. String test showed approx. 85 to 100 percent efficiency but was difficult to determine at times. Will monitor for improvement. A-Seperator gate, coil 52: Tune on coil was 403, retuned to 400. Again found tuner to coil connection very rusty and corroded. Reworked connection. String test show approx. 95 to 100 percent efficiency. Will also monitor for improvement. Resested and cleaned edge connector on associated reader card for good measures. Will replace exciter if no improvement. Current exciter looks to be good. 05/28/96 19:16 scottl Replaced Reader card for coil 08, Replaced exciter pcb for coil 0A on B-seperator gate. No stick test was done in order to keep fish from the diversion tanks. Will monitor daily reports for coil efficiency. Checked all connections. Timer tag problems are being related to no water in there respective flumes. Coils are alive and well.. General maintence check found no problems. 05/15/96 16:30 scottl Due to a mechanical valve failure, fish where sent to the B raceway for a short time on 4/14 therefor the river 2 release monitor was not in being used. Also the system was in full bypass from 0735 to 0930 today to remove debree from the seperator up well screens. facility is now back in operation. 05/12/96 08:20 scottl Timer tags for A-subsample coils 30,32, B-subsample coil 36, Sample room coils 3C,3E are not firing. The coils are detecting fish with acceptable efficiency except for coil 36. B-diversion coils are not being used and timer tags are not firing. the same is true for A-raceway 14,16. Fish were temporary being held in the raceway until the problem was corrected.
