I have disabled file checking in etc/sites for these locations. Automated uploads (and file checking) will resume when the firewall issue is resolved. 11/17/2003 09:44 Dave As a result of ongoing problems with the PSMFC firewall, we had not received data from MCJ since last evening. I pcA'd into MCJ-PC1, and found PTTP-Uploader suspended, as expected. I manually uploaded the outstanding data files, without incident. I then closed the PTTP-Uploader application The JFF and bypass are currently dewatered, and no fish data are available from MCJ. Until the firewall issue is resolved, data files can be uploaded manually, as necessary, to review any equipment diagnostics. I also noticed that, since PTTP-Uploader was re-installed on August 15, MCJ-PC1 data files have been archived to the default PTTP-Uploader archive directory, rather than the standard "C:\multimon\archive" directory. I corrected this archive path in the PTTP-Uploader application, and moved all files into the correct archive directory. 11/16/2003 11:34 Dave Site has not uploaded data since yesterday AM. pcA'd in to MCJ-PC1; found PTTP-Uploader in 'yellow' state with a status message of "Connecting to remote host via FTP...". This was expected, due to recent firewall failures on the PSMFC communications server. There has been no fish passage activity at the MCN JFF since early November. This is probably a result of the fault with the PSMFC communications firewall early this morning. There were four files outstanding on MCJ-PC1 (the last successful upload was at midnight last night). I stopped PTTP-Uploader (which caused it to revert to its "green" auto-upload state), and manually transferred the outstanding files without further issue. As the auto-upload schedule was not affected, the next upload should occur just after 3:00pm today. He said that the full flow bypass would probably remain down until spring water-up but there is a chance that if repairs are made soon that it could be back in operation. This was done and wiring and PLC program changes were done to allow PLC messaging to tell MM when the Site AC Power was ON or OFF. MCJ-GEN.HW1 and MCJ-GEN.HW2 were edited. PTOC personnel changed the file name of MCJ-GEN.HW1 and MCJ-GEN.HW1 on the public server to MCJ-GEN03302.HW1 AND MCJ-GEN03302.HW2 THEN uploaded the new .HW1 and .HW2 files to the public server. A test was performed with the permission of the Site Biologist and the PITTAG Room power panel's main breaker was shut off to simulate a power outage. It was confirmed that the proper messaging was written into the raw files and power was restored. All transciever were check to ensure that they had powered back up. PC1 became unplugged after the test and upon reboot would not recognize the mouse. A few reboots later and the problem was solved. No data was lost as the site has been in Primary Bypass and PC2 continued to run while PC1 was being troubleshot. The program is running but no files are being sent. 10/08/2003 08:43 Dave There are three gaps in data collection on October 6 for the Adult Fish Return (coils F1 and F2), running on a separate Minimon installation. While the aggregated gaps between files exceed 8.5 hours, there is no data loss, as McNary is in Primary Bypass for the rest of the operational year, and there are no fish (or water) present at or below the separator. It was found that the 'whip' or arm of the limit switch had become loose and was no longer gripping the shaft of the switch. This was done to fix the pop up windows when there was na error. We will watch this site very closely for loading and if there is anymore problems we will figure out an alternative for getting data to Gladstone. We do have the entire year in the buffer so we have not really lost any data. The files have the potential for about 3-4,000 more tags before there would be any overwriting in the buffer. 09/10/2003 10:42 Darren_C I PCA'd into the laptop on the exit pipe and found that there was a "run-time" error # 25061 which caused minimon to shut down at which time we lost data from 9-8-03 18:00 to today at about 07:30 at which time the application was restarted. We will have the "buffer" data at the end of the year with possibly date and time stamps which we can retrieve. PTOC personnel discussed the possibility of having the files uploaded manually but we decided to try the new version of minimon first, keeping a very watchful eye on the activity of the laptop, and only going to a manual upload if this problem persists. Checked the status of the MCJ-Minimon computer and no problems to report. 09/03/2003 12:48 scott_li Talked with John T. and we agreed that the MCJ-PC1 production computer will be reconfigured with original production version of PTTP to avoid some of the run-time errors incurred recently with the prototype version. The MCJ-Minimon platform will continue to operate with the PTTP experimental version to avoid file collision with the production platform. John is is working on a solution and I believe he has a fix for the run time errors and will be made available soon. "I screwed up this morning in the attempt to transmit the missing MCJ data files that had not been uploaded in the last 1 1/2 day's.. I PCA'd into MCJ PC1 and noticed that the PTTP Uploader had errors on the screen. See attached log file and screen shot... I had closed all the error boxes and restarted what I thought was the latest version of the Uploader, submitted all the files in the cue successfully and then recognized that the shortcut I used to restart Uploader was pointing to a previous older version... I have since removed all references from the desk pointing towards PTTP ver.1.0.15 Bottom line, the files for MCJ-PC1 that were sent this morning will not have the Unique Transaction Identifier , if this is correct terminology, because they were transmitted with the wrong version of PTTP, " Will be at MCJ today to find out why the seperator data collection PC has not been submitting files. The new version of Minimon and Uploader that should correct these transaction problems are available but have not been tested. All transceivers were tuned, the exit pipe and separators successfully stick tested with ten sticks each. This was nessesary due to a Run Time Error: 25061 appearently generated by the PTTP client software. FYI... The PTTP client was upgraded ~ 1 week ago to the latest version of PTTP Uploader. Not sure at this time if this error was caused by the upgrade or if this was just a Win 98 burp.. Will monitor for reoccurance and take appropriate measures if nessesary . Will consult with John and Nadia if the problem persists... 08/25/2003 08:19 scott_li Yesterday I called site personell and had them verify that PC1 was actually collecting data and acting as the primary PC. Also they had inserted a marker into the file at ~ 11:30 am pst. Will respond this morning to address the issue of not submitting data files. Also there is an issue with the "problem with remote data site" alert in that now that 2 pc's are submitting files with the same site code, appearently the mechanisim that checks for data file submission cannot differentiate which pc has been successful in data file submission and which pc had not.. Will follow up with John and Carter to sort this out. 08/24/2003 15:11 Dave We have not received MCJ Multimon files since 1:30am on Friday, 8/22. (We have not been alerted to this because we HAVE been receiving MCJ Minimon files regularly and continuously.) I have not been able to pcA into the MCJ-PC1 Multimon machine since yesterday evening; however, I've pcA'd into the MCJ-PC2 Multimon machine and verified that it is collecting data in its 'standby' mode, so I assume the Multimon PC1 machine is operating but not communicating. If it is necessary to retrieve data files from PC2, please note that the machine time is 2:30 faster than atomic time, and report the relative time offset between the two computers. After talking with Ed Nunnallee and Sean Casey it was discovered that these two coils were different for testing purposes last year and this could be part of the reason for efficiencies for these two coils always being a little bit lower than the other two. (I don't know who did this, or why, and don't really care, but it was a real PITA to archive these files until I fixed this configuration.) According to the Corps, the fish were released approximately 200 yards upstream of the end of the navigation lock wing wall, just within the line of the spillway, while the project was spilling. The Corps reports the following raceway collection dates and times for the fish subsequently released at JDA. These outlets were erroneously fed from the same power feeding the PLC. A drill was plugged into an outlet causing the fuse to blow and shutting down the PLC and the power to the new Adult Return coils off of the separator. It is not known how much data was lost on these new coils due to the fact we do not know how long batteries in the lab top and the transceivers lasted. This should be able to be determined once the files are loaded and processed. As for the PLC losing power, the affect should not be detrimental as this is a ‘non fish’ day and the facility is in bypass. The Adult Return coils and lab top are no longer powered from the PCL’s power. C&D gates were put in the forward position and turned off at Brad Eby's request. This is an ongoing problem that is being investigated by PTOC personnel and Destron-fearing. The SLC Comms error was generated because the fuse had blown inside the PLC panel. Due to this reconfig, the primary computers had to be rebooted in order for the setting to take effect and therefore creating a gap in the data set. The error affected tallies and efficiency numbers for MCJ's 'C-' and 'D-' gates only. During the period 13-17 June, all of MCJ's 2003 files were re-processed by DGE on the development machine (sockeye). As of noon on Tuesday, 17 June, 'production' copies of DGE's 'persistence files' for MCJ -- storing YTD tallies of 'successes' and 'failures' at all MCJ diversion gates -- have been replaced with corrected files copied from the development machine. Accordingly, DGE's 'Last 24 Hours & YTD' web-page now displays correct values for all gates. Note, however, that 'YTD' values for MCJ's 'C-' and 'D-' gates in the 'Last 24 Hours & YTD' display are incorrect for all archived reports prior to 17 June. Similarly, both the 'Last 24 Hrs' and the 'YTD' values for these gates are incorrect for all archived reports prior to 13 June. In contrast, 'Last 24 Hrs' values and 'Action Summary' displays for the 'C-' and 'D-' gates are correct in archived reports for the period 13-17 June 2003. All were diverted correctly. 10 sticks were thrown on D gate and all were diverted correctly. The sticks were thrown to obtain proper multimon timing as fish were causing the PLC counter to increment 3 times. When a stick was thrown it would cause the counter to increment 2 times (decrease those values by one for D gate). The delay time was not long enough in multimon resulting in 3 out of the 4 coils (particulary on C gate) to send a request to fire to the PLC. Changes were made to C gate's multimon times, D gates times were left alone(see previous eventlog for time changes). The PLC program was also changed so that the counters incremented on an actual gate firing rather than a request to fire. 06/06/2003 10:07 Troy 25 sticks were thrown on C and D gates (A Raceway Diversion Gate and B Raceway Diversion Gate) to determine their efficiency on a "non fish" day. A day when the facility was in bypass, resulting in lower water flows. All sticks were diverted correctly. There is a difference between C and D gates which is directly related to the 'time open' time values in the PLC. For C gate the gate starts to open 6 to 8 inches after the stick passes the downstream edge of the gate. For D gate the gate starts to open when the stick is about 2.5 feet past the downstream edge of the gate. The difference in the times is a result of our attempt to bring DGE efficiency up (for C gate) which were down as a result of too many ByCatch fish or too many "ACTION 'none' CORRECT STATE 'open' ACTUAL STATE 'closed'". This was previously replaced but the replacement card was on that was sent in for repair and returned with no trouble found. The database contains an additional 59k tags for AC-37 (LYFE-0, Lyons Ferry subyearling chinook). The map file contains instructions to divert 4/5 (80%) of these tags to transportation vessels (at least on the days when fish are passed over the separator). I then decreased the travel close time to 42. I changed the time closed time from 150 to 80. Then with the help of the seperator operator I changed the delay time from 15 to 22. We threw 25 sticks and caught them all. Will continue to monitor and correct the situation when resources become available. 05/12/2003 22:56 D._Chase On 5-7-03 I visited the site because we were receiving alarms on coil 32 for no EOT's also coil 71 had low efficiencies but after viewing the raw files for both PC1 and PC2 we found that we were receiving false data on PC1. After the events of this year we decided to reseat the rocketport cards on PC1 and add extensions to the rs-232 cables from the HSIP. I started a new file for PC2 while PC1 was down and I submitted it with the file extension of .205X, although I did not change this file in any manner. The cards were reseated and communications were checked all was good, but as of today we are seeing rocketport No EOT's on coil 32 and after viewing the raw files it was noted that only some of the data from coil 71 was being parsed. Revisited coil 03 and with further testing, found that the reader would read tags well for a brief moment, then stop reading all together. The signal levels indicated that the reader was turning on the tag but not vailidating tag information. Re-adjusted the equalization and compared signal levels on 03 with coil 02 . After bombarding Coil 03 with tag information , the reader seemed to respond well after the adjustment. If this readers efficiency does not improve drastically over the next 18 hrs, PTOC will replace the reader. On another note, while looking at the FDXB on coil 02 with a test tag in the field, noticed that the signal level displayed on the LCD readout would not display above 14 %. The reading Eff. for Coil 02 is good, ~ 90 % so the problem of the display not updating is not degrading the reading efficiency.. Will consult with DA with regards to this. 04/30/2003 14:12 Scott_Li A GMC was performed on 4/29/03. Retuned the Full Flow coils , 01 thry 04. Checked equalization and optimized tune. System noise was reduced on all transeivers by ~ 3-5 %. 04/29/2003 13:35 scottl Reseated and cleaned edge connectors on the 3 RocketPort cards on the primary PC in order to correct a problem with data being recieved from Coil 71. This appears to have corrected the situation but PTOC will monitor over the next few day's to ensure that this problem does not crop up again. If so , the RP card associated with coil 71 will have to be replaced. Changed to current data file on PC2 at the same time that PC1 was taken from data collection mode. When PC1 was brought back on line , again changed the current file on PC2. Copied 03119.206 to the PC1data directory for upload to PTAGIS. Renamed the 03119.106 to 03119.106x and moved it to the archive dir. We changed all Adult transceivers timer tag delays to 61 minutes to try and avoid the timer tag and status report being sent at the same time. This may put a damper on some of the timer tag failures. If this works we will implement this on all adult transceivers. Couple of weird things on PC1. First, Multimon was minimized and PTTP-Uploader was displayed, stuck in it's manual upload window. Cleared this, minimized PTTP-Uploader from it's main screen, and maximized Multimon into a full DOS window. The standard F-keys reacted as Alt-F10 (F10 did not exit data collection mode but toggled into new data files, and F4 didn't insert a marker, but instead displayed the "last tag mode" screen. I toggled out of, and back into, DOS mode and the normal F-key functions were restored. Everything seems to be copacetic now. PC2 was fine. We also went through all transceivers and check tuning and cleared the buffers. I had a conversation with Bobby from McNary and he informed me that there will be water going through the full flow system on Monday sometime around 12:00, we will be back on site to retune the transceivers as needed when the water is introduced into the system, he also informed me that on Wednesday 4-2-03 at 07:00 the Juvenile facility will begin collection for sampling for a 24hr. period. This was decided by Dave Hurson on Wednesday 3-26-03, they will be in collection on every even day until June possibly. PSMFC personnel will be on site on this day to check for gate timing and for checking tune as water is introduced to the system. Dave will this affect your SbyC at all or were you aware that this was going to happen. I uploaded the "gen" versions of the hardware files from PC1 and PC2 to the PTAGIS FTP server. I updated the current ignor.tag file from the site to the PTAGIS FTP server. All generic Multimon configuration files are now mirrored between each site's PC1 and PC2 platforms and the respective site directory on the PTAGIS FTP server. 4) With Multimon inactive, I synced the clocks on PC1 and PC2 to "real time". 5) I rebooted PC1 and PC2, changing the "Shut Down Windows" option from "Shut Down" to "Re-Start" as necessary. The Multimon Computer platform at MCJ is now configured for active diversion and monitoring for the 2003 field season. The site may commence primary diversion (through the 38" full-flow pipe) any time before or on 4/1/03; the first date of secondary bypass (fish across the separator) is currently unknown. 03/24/2003 15:41 Carter_S cea configuration for mcj was updated. 03/14/2003 15:51 scott The interrogtion platform I/O settings were modified so that that a database file containing 3 million tag codes could be loaded into memory without the pc's crashing upon exit. The changes made are: Bios setting for comm 1: Base I/O = 3e8, Irq = 4. Changes were also made in windows device manager for the SP. respectively.Modified the MM HDW file and set the PLC control to SP 3 and the DB tag size to 3,000,000. Removed the conextion dialup adapter,( Modem ) from each computer, Modified PCA settings to not initialize the modem. FYI.. There may be a better solution to the problem other than stated above, and I have a few other ideas knowing what I know now,at least we have the flexability to accomadate the SByC requirements. If and when time permits, I will try and come up with a more glamouris fix. The current database loaded is labeled " X-Master ", containing 2,874,621 tag codes. Verified PLC functionality on both PC1 and 2.
