Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 11/03/2011 10:12 Bob Retrieval of the prototype pit-tag detection site (PD7) occurred on two separate dates in late 2011. On 28 September the alternative configuration (coils 5 and 6) was removed due to lack of detections. The remaining coils (1,2,3 and 4) were retrieved on 25 October as upcoming tidal cycles would not be conducive for removal until 2012. A total of twenty-one pit-tagged fish were detected from early August to late October and included adult Chinook and coho salmon, steelhead, as well as, sturgeon and northern pikeminnow. 09/27/2011 14:11 Bob_Magi Activation of the prototype pile dike PIT-tag detection site (PD7) occurred on 10 August, 2011 at river kilometer 70 in the Columbia River Estuary. The site consists of four PIT-tag coils (ea.1.2 m wide × 3.0 m deep) fixed to the downstream side of a pile bundle located at the offshore terminus of the pile dike structure, forming a 4-coil (coils A1, A2, A3, A4) antenna array (3.6 m wide × 6.4 m deep). On 14 September two additional detection coils were added (A5 and A6) approximately 30 feet nearer to the shoreline on an adjacent piling to test an alternative configuration. These two coils comprised a 3.0 m wide x 2.6 m deep antenna array and were deployed 1.8m below the surface of the water. 08/25/2011 15:05 Nicole Initial entry for new PD7 - Columbia River Estuary at rkm 70 interrogation site. Site data stewards and technical points of contact are Robert Magie (robert.magie@noaa.gov), Richard Ledgerwood (dick.ledgerwood@noaa.gov) and Matthew Morris (matthew.morris@noaa.gov). ####End of Event Log for PD7###
