PROSSER (CHANDLER) JUVENILE FISH FACILITY EVENTS Date Event 10/07/93 Shut down power to all Pit-Tag gear for the season. (Warf) 09/27/93 Note: All timer tags were removed from this site for use at GRA on 9/13/93. (Warf) 09/21/93 0745 No file transferred; dialasite script worked normally. Logged onto system; found that yesterday's file stopped after 0545. (R Buchanan) 1500 Facility is known to be inactive; removed PRJ from poll list until further notice. Will diagnose current problem, then turn equipment off at next site visit. (R Buchanan) 09/01/93 0750 File transfer got into a loop while transferring MON-FILE; retry limit did not come into play. Error messages not available; /x/opt2/Nohup.Out too large to work with; front part did not appear to have usable information. Turned off modem, deleted lock indicator from /usr/spool/locks and retried; worked fine. Not able to determine what problem was. (R Buchanan) 08/31/93 0810 File transfer only picked up PRJ93242.C; file is not empty, but has only garbage; apparent power failure at site. Logged onto site computer; found files .A and .B normal appearing, except for lack of CLOSE DATE and CLOSE TIME. Power appears to have glitched after 1330, recovering at 1336, then going out again after 1345, recovering at 1356. The multiports did not recover correctly the second time. Transferred files .A and .B to Sequent for loading tomorrow. Will not worry about checking printouts, since site is not in operation at this time. (R Buchanan) 08/09/93 Found the lead with a hard drive error displayed. Rebooted to clear the error. The time-out error has not reappeared. (Warf) 08/09/93 1. Problem with MONITOR.EXE on PC; communication worked normally, but no obs files transferred. Asked Don to investigate. 2. Talked with Tom Ruehle and reps of Yakima Nation; facility was shut down 31 July. They plan to operate it in the fall, but they may not (budget problems). We will leave the PIT Tag gear operating and polling. 08/05/93 Replaced multiport to computer cable as a possible source of the time-out error. (Warf) 07/29/93 Visited for maint. check. Found the lead computer with a time-out error. Cleared error. Everything else checks ok. (Warf) 07/16/93 Replaced bad multiport for back-up computer. (Warf) 07/13/93 Visited for maint. check. Found a bad multiport, will replace latter this week. (Warf) 07/08/93 Apparent power failure just after 1600 on 07/07; recovered at 1602. Identified by transfer of file prj93188.b without prj93188.a. (R Buchanan) 07/07/93 Loaded files identified as inconsistent on 06/23; see prj93187.note. (R Buchanan) 6/28/93 Prosser MON-FILE.PRJ deleted; PRJ added back to opt2's do_dialasite script. Will upload and correct data from uncertain period later this week. (R Buchanan) Found the lead computer down-fired it back up. Changed phone line to other computer. Changed both controller batteries. Both controllers now taking a time update from the computer. (Warf) 6/23/93 Date/Time stamp inconsistencies were noted in the Prossor (Chandler Canal) raw data sets. It is presumed that the controller mal-functioned. For example, at 6/20/93 20:45:41 somthing caused the next time tick to produce 6/15:93 13:30. Therefore, don't use Prossor data for travel times for detections apparently between 6/15/93 and today until further notice. -- pcs. 06/15/93 Visited site; reset of controller left it operating correctly. (R Buchanan) 06/14/93 Apparent power failure (recognized by file prj93165.c uploaded without .a and .b on 6/15); transferred those two files to the Sequent. After looking at them, it appears that one of the con- trollers did not recover from the power failure (only one set of time ticks). Prosser Juvenile (PRJ) suffered a power failure at approximately 13:10 6/14/93; the Chandler Canal tunnel's controller did not recover. Data from that tunnel was lost until it was repaired at approximately 15:00 6/15/93. 06/08/93 Visited; computers, equipment running OK. (R Buchanan, Don) 06/02/93 Coil C8 (most upstream of Chandler Canal) at 4/10 on 5/31, 8/23 on 6/1. Will send Don to investigate. Almost surely needs retuning; may need tuner (water leaks into that portion of tunnel). (R Buchanan) 06/02/93 TIMEOUT condition has returned. (R Buchanan, per Don) 06/02/93 Coil C8 tuned to 400 kHz, 1 A. Coil was wet, out of tune by 9 kHz. Will need to put duct tape over the leaky portion of the cover. (R Buchanan, per Don) 06/02/93 Telephone connection moved to other computer due to TIMEOUT condition. (R Buchanan, per Don) NOTE: MON-FILE not cleaned up; two months worth of files transferred and loaded on 06/03. Had to delete and reload 1993 PRJ data. 05/13/93 TIMEOUT condition eliminated by switching cables between multiports and controllers. (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/06/93 Attempted to install timer tags; tags failed (R Buchanan, per Don) 05/06/93 Unjammed printer. (R Buchanan, per Don) 03/26/93 Replaced tuners on C8, CA; system works normally. (R Buchanan) 03/17/93 1. Not able change tuners; hard-wired into exciters rather than additional cable and connectors 2. Communication between one computer and multiport scrambled (TIMEOUT condition); plugging multiports into TripLite did not relieve problem 3. FATAL ERROR indication from MONITOR.EXE on other computer; may be due to disk error (check MONITOR.EXE to be sure); if so, will have to reformat fixed disc 4. Controller F2 broke approximately 0200 14 March; ceased transmitting to either printer or PC; cycled power, unit did not come back on. Replaced controller frame, moving reader cards to new controller. (R Buchanan) 03/09/93 System powered on CC, CE tuned; operate normally C4, C6 checked; operate normally Tuners not operative on C8, CA Plugged multiports into TripLite to attempt to avoid TIMEOUT in communication between multiport and computer (R Buchanan)
