Modem connections and PCA remote access has been tested and is fully functional. Communication to the transceivers was also verified. Wired the HSIP to the backup PC ups which closes the gap on the entire system being UPS protected. No backup PC was installed although the LCD monitor and KB/Mouse is.Will configure a BU PC and send to Biomark for installation. The system is ready for the 2009 outmigration. 04/30/2008 09:46 dlwarf@r 04:TestTagFailure,06:TestTagFailure,07:TestTagFailure,08:TestTagFailure: Down for the season. 04/28/2008 09:18 Brett Rapid River PIT-tag detection was shut down on Friday 4/25 at about 09:30 PST. the final data files were submitted to PTAGIS for 2008. 04/25/2008 14:18 Dave Brian from BioMark called from Rapid River to confirm that the hatchery forced out the remaining fish this morning. The last file was uploaded at 9:30AM, and the computers were shut down. I've disabled site-checking for RPJ, and finalized the 2008 activity record for RPJ in obs_site_dates. 04/21/2008 16:43 Brett Site visit today. Hatchery personnel have started forcing fish out with a seine because they aren't moving out fast enough. Today they ran a seine through the entire pond to clear out some of the fish. My guess is that this is going to have a adverse effect on our overall detection efficiency. They are going to do it a couple more times this week, and then push out all remaining fish on Friday. So, Friday (4/25) will be the last day of detection and we will remove the system. If anything changes, I will post it. 04/16/2008 11:18 bturley@ 05:TestTagFailure: test tag failure acknowledged 04/16/2008 11:17 bturley@ 08:BadOscFreq: Bad Osc Freq alarm acknowledged. It appears to be a one-time thing. Transceiver diagnostics look good 04/14/2008 16:51 Brett Site visit on 4/14/08. Per Scott Livingston's instructions, I changed the primary computers data file length from 1 hour to 3 hours. Also, I changed the timer tags to fire every 1 hour. There was a tag in the field of coil #5 that was stuck. I believe it was a dead fish that maybe got wedged between the coils and the dam boards. With the assistance of the asst. hatchery manager, we removed the dam boards to try to shake the tag loose, and a dead fish suddenly floated to the surface and floated away. It was there for about 22 hours or so. It didn't entirely kill the coil, as some other fish were read on coil #5 while the tag was still there. 04/14/2008 12:14 Scott_Li Brett Turley changed the file creation interval on PC1 only to the standard 8 files per day and changed the Timer Tag interval to 60 minutes. This was done to better align the site with the new TT reporting tool. The changes were made at 10:35 PST. Brett also reports that there appears to be a shed tag near one of the antennas and is making an attempt to correct the situation. 04/07/2008 15:48 Brett Rapid River hatchery site visit today. Everything in working order. 03/31/2008 15:09 Brett Site visit on 3/31/08. System is looking good. Nothing else to report. 03/21/2008 10:32 Brett The screens were pulled for the volitional release at 12:00 pst on 3/19/08. 03/21/2008 08:15 Brett The screens were pulled on Wednesday 3/19 to begin the volitional release. I have been unable to contact hatchery personnel to find out the exact time they were pulled. When I find that out, I will post it. 03/17/2008 15:57 Brett The hatchery postponed volitionally releasing the fish until Friday 3/21 or Monday 3/24. They originally scheduled the release for 3/14, but they are behind on trucking other fish to various release sites, so they won't pull the screens until either Friday or next Monday. They will give me a firm time and date later this week. 03/17/2008 15:53 Brett The primary data computer froze up over the weekend and stopped sending files. I used the data files from the backup computer to cover the time gap when the primary computer went down (files RPJ08075.E2 thru RPJ08077.K2). The got the primary computer back up and running on 3/17/08 at 10:06 pst. 02/26/2008 07:43 Brett I installed new UPS's for each transceiver yesterday (2/25). Estimated release date is 3/17/08. 02/20/2008 13:25 Dave I enabled file-upload checking on a 3-hour schedule in etc/sites. 02/20/2008 08:06 Brett_T. The PIT-tag system at Rapid River hatchery was installed on 2/19. It is now fully operational as of 2:00 pm PST on 2/19. New UPS's were installed on the data computers. I have new UPS's for each transceiver, but I was unable to install them because the mounting hole pattern on the back of the UPS's has changed for that model of UPS. I will return to RPJ with a drill and screws to mount the new UPS's. According to Ralph Steiner (hathcery manager), the volitional release will begin on Monday 3/17.
