The upper antenna (01) was installed within the cement outlet structure for the pond and the lower system (02) was installed approximately 50 meters downstream of the acclimation site. These systems were in series and captured 100% of the detectable area, when operational (see explanation below during removal period). Fish were transferred from Willard National Fish Hatchery to the Winthrop National Fish Hatchery (WNFH) back-channel acclimation site on March 11 for short- term acclimation during the spring months. A forced release occurred on April 29 for coho acclimating on-station at WNFH and a volitional release began on May 5 for coho acclimating within the back-channel. The volitional release was concluded on May 27, when final observations determined that all fish had exited the site. It should be noted that juvenile Spring Chinook and steelhead were also released from the WNFH during this time (forced release on April 14 and May 7, respectively) and codes from all three species are recorded within the interrogation files. Detection system 01 was non-functional from April 2 at approximately 14:00 to April 28 at 12:07. This was due to electrical complications and a waiting period for a loaner antenna to be shipped from BioMark. The block panels on the right bank of detection system .B0 were removed on April 14 at 08:30 and reinstalled on April 22 at 08:30 per request from WNFH to allow unimpeded out migration for juvenile spring Chinook. Early detections prior to the juvenile spring Chinook release were presumed to be juvenile coho "escapees" and acclimation pond infrastructure adjustments were made immediately after detections were noticed. 06/06/2008 11:07 Dave The Point of Contact for the new PIT tag detection site at the Spring Creek Pond acclimation facility is: Cory Kamphaus (cory@mid-columbia-coho.net) Mid-Columbia Coho Reintroduction Program Yakama Nation FRM 7051 Hwy. 97 Peshastin, WA 98847 (509) 548-9413 ####End of Event Log for SCP###
