EVENT LOG FOR SITE SUJ Most recent activity to be listed first. First line of each entry lists date, time and who is reporting. Subsequent lines of each entry aligned under Time column. Do not use tabs, only spaces. Date Time Who What ---------- ----- -------- ----------------------------------------------- 10/28/2005 16:23 Dave I updated the timer tag list for SUJ. 07/25/2005 16:27 Kirk The juvenile detection antenna at the PGE Sullivan Plant (SUJ) was put back into detection mode on July 22 at around 10:30 am. A new juvenile PIT tag antenna was installed in the bypass upstream of the present antenna. It is on-line but has not yet been tested with controlled releases of tagged fish. 07/13/2005 16:26 Kirk The PGE Sullivan Plant was taken off line on July 11 for plant maintenance and installation of a new juvenile PIT tag antenna in the bypass upstream of the present antenna. SUJ will be out of service until July 22, when the plant is planned to be placed back in operation. John Tenney removed the handheld PC that served as a backup data collector and was being tested at the site. The transceiver buffer was downloaded and the buffer was erased. 05/23/2005 13:46 Kirk A replacement PC was installed at the SUJ site on May 19 and we removed the old PC and the laptop that had been causing some problems. Current configuration is the PC acts as the primary data collector and the Dell Axim provided by PSMFC acts as the backup. Interrogation with the new PC began at noon (PST). With the upload of the first files from the new PC, I noticed the date was ahead by 1 day. I remotely logged in to the PC at 0820 to change the computer clock. Stopped the current interrogation file (05141.B) and started a new interrogation file (05140.A). Conferred with Dave Marvin and logged back into the PC to set the file version in Minimon to avoid files with same name being overwritten. Stopped interrogation file 05140.A, set file version to "1", started new interrogation file 05140.B1 No tag detections occurred between May 19 and May 20. Note that specific dates in some of the interrogation files will be off by one day. The correct order of the interrogation files is 05139.B (correct date) , 05140.C (should be 5/19), 05140.D (should be 5/19), 05141.A (should be 5/20), 05141.B (should be 5/20), 05140.A (correct date), 05140.B1 (correct date w/ file version added), 05140.C1 (all files thereafter are correct), etc. 05/13/2005 17:25 Kirk Communication problems at SUJ have continued off and on for a couple of months. Site visits to troubleshoot the uploading problems or to resolve disk-writing problems on the hand-held device have occurred on April 7, April 19, April 27, May 9, and May 13. Latest visit included re- installing the laptop computer as the primary data collection and uploading device, moving the laptop to backup data collection, and continuing the Dell Axim as a secondary backup. Laptop successfully connected and uploaded a test file to PTAGIS. All devices recorded test tags run through the antenna. John Tenney is continuing to investigate corruption problems with SD disks that have been used in the Dell. I neglected to get interrogation files off the desktop that had not been uploaded (files beginning with SUJ05130.B and continuing through SUJ05133.B). These files will be retrieved in the near future and uploaded to fill in the data gap. 02/16/2005 10:39 Kirk Interrogation at SUJ was briefly stopped on 2/15/05 to replace the laptop computer with a desktop computer as the primary data collector at the SUJ interrogation site. The laptop computer quit at 3:30 am on 2/15/05. Buffer download revealed no tags had been detected between 3:30 am and 11:30 am. We will work with John Tenney to create and upload an interrogation file to cover the missing data period using the data collected by MobileMonitor on the hand-held device we are operating as a backup. 02/09/2005 17:30 Kirk Interrogation at SUJ was briefly stopped on 2/8/05 to install a desktop computer as a backup to the SUJ interrogation system. Problems with the COM port prevented backup from being put on-line. Another attempt will be made later. We plan to continue running the laptop as the primary computer to see if we can pinpoint the freeze-up problems. If problem persists, then desktop will be switched to primary data collection computer. 02/02/2005 16:17 Kirk The Sullivan Plant PIT tag interrogator was not operated from 1/24/05 to 1/27/05 because of plant maintenance and cleaning. Juvenile Chinook in the plunge pool were netted and manually passed through the PIT tag interrogator on 1/25/05 by Dan Domina, PGE. Computer maintenance was performed on the afternoon of 1/25/05 and put back into operation. Interrogation was restarted on the afternoon of 1/27/05. 02/02/2005 16:03 Kirk Interrogation at SUJ was stopped for a few hours on 2/2/05 to upgrade the SUJ 1001J transceiver for reading SGL tags (version 5). John Tenney set up a Dell Axim PDA running MobileMonitor to run as a back-up to the SUJ laptop and to allow for field testing of MobileMonitor. Interrogation was initiated around 12:30 pm. 01/27/2005 18:08 Kirk SUJ computer malfunctioned on 1/16/05 after 12:00 pm, was restarted on 1/19/05 at 12:21 pm. Last file that was created successfully was SUJ05016.B. File SUJ05016.FIL was created and submitted to bridge the data gap and to report the 5 tags that were found in the buffer during the period of the computer malfunction. ####End of Event Log for SUJ###
