EVENT LOG FOR SITE TAY The first line of each entry contains a date/time stamp & who is reporting. The most recent entry is listed first. Date Time Who ---------- ----- -------- 12/12/2011 15:36 Cameron 12/12/2011 15:35 Cameron In March 2011, the antenna configuration on Big Creek (TAYA0) was changed from a tandem array of three antennas extending from the center channel to river right to a single array extending across the wetted width of the river. During the reconfiguration the site was inoperable for 33 hours. On May 24, 2011, antenna 1 was taken out of sequence. Antenna 1 was damaged during high flows and resulted in a slow decline in antenna current. Antenna 1 was replaced on August 27, 2011. During site maintenance in August the site was inoperable for 66 hours. In addition, the transceiver at TAYA0 malfunctioned on September 4 and was reset on September 14, 2011 and resulted in 254 hours of status report data (DRS) being lost however pit tag observations and environmental data was collected. In March 2011, Big Creek (TAYB0) antenna configuration was changed from a tandem array of three antennas extending from the center channel to river right to a single array extending across the wetted width of the river. During the reconfiguration the site was inoperable for 28 hours. On Jun 7, 2011 antenna 3 and 4 became inoperable, presumably from damage during high spring flows. On June 8 antenna 5 and on June 9 antenna 6 became inoperable. Antenna 2 stopped functioning on July 4 and finally antenna 1 stopped functioning on July 7, 2011. In addition, the water level/temperature probe stopped functioning on Jun 9, 2011. The high spring flows dislodged two antennas and disconnected the exciter cables from the other four antennas. As a result no pit tag detection data was collected from July 7 through August 26, 2011 when the antennas were replaced. 05/24/2011 07:49 Rick_Orm Antenna 1 at TAY A0 was taken out of sequence at 0735 (pst) on 4/24/11. Antenna 1 was likely damaged during resent high flows as the antenna current has gradually been dropping since 5/15/11. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Orme Nez Perce Tribe Dept. Although the message files from both transceivers indicated timer tags were being fired and found, the timer tags were only intermittently recorded in the tag file. Resetting the transceiver did not resolve the issue. This issue has been noted at several other sites. Several lines of evidence suggest that the unique delay was not functioning properly. The unique delay was turned off at TAY A0 and a resident tag was immediately detected. After an hour or so, the unique delay was turned on (RUD1) at TAYA0, and now timer tags are being recorded every hour and the resident tag on A6 is being detected every minute. At TAYB0, the unique delay was turned off, several one-shot timer tags were sent, timer tag delay was set for 10 minutes, after 1 hour, unique delay was turned back on (RUD1) and timer tag delay set to 60 minutes. Timer tags were successfully recorded every 10 minutes at B0 during this interval. Hopefully the issue has be resolved but we will continue to monitor the issue. As stated previously, there is a resident tag on TAYA0 A6. As such, noise levels are high and the detectability of other tags may be limited. The next site visit is tentativley planned for mid-March to reorient the antennas. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Orme Nez Perce Tribe Dept.
