EVENT LOG FOR SITE TWX The first line of each entry contains a date/time stamp & who is reporting. The most recent entry is listed first. Date Time Who ---------- ----- -------- 10/09/2007 10:22 Dave For clarification, data collection ended on July 19. Data files submitted after that date contain detection records for events prior to July 19. 10/09/2007 09:42 Ledgerwo Sampling with the large trawl PIT-tag detection system occurred at rkm 75 between 7 March and 19 July, 2007. This system consisted of a 2-coil antenna (coils A3 and A5) attached to a 750-ft-long surface pair-trawl. Sampling occurred 3 to 5 days per week during early and late season but increased to 2 crews per day, 7 days per week, from 23 April to 28 June. In total, we detected 19,186 PIT-tagged fish in 1,047 hours of sampling. We also tested a large "matrix" trawl antenna, attached to a similar surface pair-trawl. This antenna measured 8.5-ft-wide by 10-ft-tall and was subdivided into coils. Two configurations were tested: initially from 22 May to 19 June, a 2-coil (C3 and C5), side-by-side arrangement, and subsequently from 16 to 19 July, a 5-coil system, with two front coils (C4 and C5) and a 5-ft-separation to a three coil rear component (coils C1, C2 and C3). In total we detected 304 fish with the matrix system in 55 hours of sampling. We also deployed a shoreline system, utilizing the 2-coil matrix antenna (coils B1 and B2)and a net anchored along shore at rkm 75. We sampled ebb tides for a total of 25 hours on 6 occasions between 13 and 29 March, though we did not record any detections. 04/18/2007 09:11 Ledgerwo Electronics testing and equipment preparation activities for the large surface pair-trawling effort began near Jones Beach, river kilometer 75 (site code TWX) in early March. In 2007, we continue use of a 2-coil, front to rear, PIT-tag detection antenna. This antenna is 45-inches long antenna and has two 45-inch diameter coils in series. We also use Destron FS1001M (MUX) transceivers with MiniMon software for recording interrogation data. Sampling with large trawl began 7 March and continued generally MWF. We also sample along the shoreline began 15 March and continued generally TT using "Matrix" antenna system. This antenna consisted of 2 coils positioned side by side and measured 8.5 feet wide by 10 feet tall. Intermittently sampling with the large trawl and shoreline systems will continue through mid-April when, depending on detection numbers, sampling with the large trawl will increase to 5 and then 7 days per week and 2-shifts per day through about mid-June and then reduce back to a single daily crew through about mid-July. Shoreline sampling will hault in mid-April and resume in mid-June. Sampling after mid-June target subyearling fall Chinook salmon and actual sample schedule dependant on numbers tagged and availability in the estuary During the peak of the yearling salmonid migration period (May and June), we also anticipate deployment of the 'Matrix' antenna in mid-river using a full-sized trawl. Plans are for 6 or 7 days of simultanenous sampling with both large trawl system to compare number of detections per hour. We will then attempt installtion of another 2-coils on the matrix system to provide a 4-coil proto-type with a front to back detetion potential design to compare detection rates for another 6 or 7 days. TWX 2006 site map: 1. Large trawl site TWX primary. Transceiver ID A0, antenna coil designations (MUX ports): A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6 (code corresponding to port numbers). 2. Shoreline sampler site TWX secondary. Transceiver ID "B0" single antenna coil designations (MUX port):B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6 (again, code cooresponding to which MUX port the coils are attached to). 3. Matrix trawl site TWX (secondary). Transceiver ID C0. Three side by side coils coil designations: C1,C2,C3,C4,C5, or C6 (with code corresponding to port used for each coil). 01/01/2007 00:00 PTOC_Bot Annual log file initiation for TWX #### End of Event Log for TWX ###
