Date Time Who ---------- ----- -------- 08/28/2012 06:28 Bob_Magi Trawl sampling monitoring PIT-tagged juvenile salmonids in the estuary, began on 15 March and continued uninterrupted through 30 July 2012. Between 1 May and 15 June, we sampled in both daylight and darkness using two daily shift and averaged 14 sample hours/d.During this period, we detected 1.9% of yearling Chinook salmon and 2.6% of steelhead previously detected at Bonneville Dam (a rough measure of sample efficiency). In total, we detected 16,731 salmonids in 952 hours of sampling (5,567 spring/summer Chinook salmon, 1,816 fall Chinook salmon, 7,383 steelhead, 842 sockeye, 456 coho salmon, and 668 fish with no release information in PTAGIS. 03/27/2012 12:55 Bob_Magi Sampling in the Columbia River Estuary (approximately rkm 61-83) for PIT-tagged juvenile salmonids with a surface trawl was initiated on 15 March 2012.Using the matrix PIT tag antenna developed in 2008 (8.5ft wide x 10ft tall fish passage tunnel) fixed to the cod end of the trawl enabling fish to pass through the system unhandled, we initiated sampling 2 days weekly.Sampling will increase to daily sampling 5 days per week and finally to two daily sampling shifts 7 days per week as densities of PIT-tagged fish in the estuary increase and warrant the effort (typically in early May). This effort will remain consistent through the high fish density period of the juvenile outmigration season. As detection rates decrease (late June or early July) sampling will be reduced to 5 days weekly using one daily shift until sampling is halted. 01/01/2012 00:00 PTOC_Bot Annual log file initiation for TWX #### End of Event Log for TWX ###
