This was nessesary in that the original pc that was installed did not meet the system requirements in order to interface with the power inverter system. This function was critical so that remote administration and control of the system would be possable. When first arrived at the site, it was noticed that the entire system was not operating. First , the battery voltage was checked and found it to be at 21.2 Vdc. Given that the transceivers are directly connected to the batteries, it was assumed that the transceivers were operating. At this point, I noticed that the inverter had ( for whatever reason ) went into an error condition, the RED LED on the inverter was on. After resetting the error, the inverter was functional and I and was able to completely function test the computer, transceiver comms, StarBand Satelite uplink and the Inverter interface. After that, the battery voltage had dropped to a point that the inverter could no longer sustain the proper 110 Vac output and shutdown. I was expecting the backup generator to kick in at the lower battery threshhold and start charging the batteries but it never did. I managed to start the generator but noticed that the generator was not charging the batteries. The generator would start then after ~1 minute of operation , then shutdown, and repeat this for ~ 3 cycles, then inverter would again go into an error conition. Reviewing the notes on all the inverter settings, I verified that all the inverter parms were correct. I then checked all circuit breakers but found no tripped breakers, the charge controller appeared to be functioning, but found no obvious reason for the generator not to be charging the batteries and causing the inverter error. I then, put the inverter in the " charge mode " and manually started the generator and let it run for ~ 20 minutes and again the gen. did not charge the batteries whatsoever. My opinion is that the Solar array was adaquately providing enough energy to the battery bank during ideal weather conditions , but when the the weather had turned for the worse, the generator did not start, the battery voltage was depleted to a point the solar array was not able to recharge the battery bank enough to run the inverter system. I called Gayle and Dee and informed them that the system was not functioning and that I was unable to correct the situation. Bottom line is the system is NOT operational and a high probability is that no Pittag data is being collected. Will talk with USFWS about detailed events not mentioned in this entry on Monday, Nov. 4. in oder to help them better diagnose the situation. 10/21/2002 08:11 Scott_Li Coil was put into standby mode due to excessive noise levels. This was done by USFWS. ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:11:33 ALARM MESSAGE: Reader is in standby mode. ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Reader info: Version: FS1001A 3.11 ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Active: Off Unique: Off ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Reader ID#: A2 Master: Off ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Communication (N,8,1) ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM COM1 baud rate: 9600 COM2 baud rate: 115200 ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Buffer: Active On Tag Count: 19 ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Local: COM1 tag codes: Off ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Diagnostics for A2: ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Temperature: 34C Exciter power: 17.5V ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Exciter current: 0.1A Signal level: 3% ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:25 ALARM Exciter phase: 100% Sync input: NO ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM Battery: OK Status: Slave ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM TestTag delay: 0 min Report delay: 60 min ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM Current gain: 100% Current alarm: 3600mA ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM Bit counters ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM Preambles: 20310 Bad CRC: 9 ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM Good reads: 28 Overruns: 0 ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM Alarms for A2: ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:26 ALARM None ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:37 ALARM Noise report for Reader ID#A2 ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:37 ALARM Average: 60 % ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:37 ALARM Peak: 97 % ~A2-6 10/20/02 22:13:37 ALARM FDXB Peak: 98 % 10/17/2002 08:32 Darren_C After site was rewired and new fiber optic cables were pulled in yesterday I began to finalize the tuning of the transceivers. I was having noise trouble with coil A2. I was seeing a constant noise of 30-40% with spiking into the 60's. I tried setting the op amp but that did not have any effect. I checked the equalizer circuit for adjustment but that to had no effect. I swapped the antenna cables and found that the problem followed the antenna. I noticed that there was a vibration to the coil that seem to be in tune with the noise but could not find any reason for the vibration other than hydraulics. I spoke with Gayle on the phone after leaving the site yesterday and explained what I had seen, and suggested that the coil may need to be looked at. I really had no ideas as to what the problem could be. The other antenna and transceiver were tuned with noise in the teen's. There does appear to be some spiking but that could be attributed to the hydraulics. 10/17/2002 08:28 Scott_Li This site actively started collecting data on Oct. 16, File 02289.Q. at 14:42:54. Notice the file gap between 289.B and 289.Q. The interim files were flushed due to a time a discrepancy on the data collection computer. These missing files contained no valuable data.. This was due to problems mounting the solar panels on the trailer. The trailer will be delivered to PSMFC Kennewick on 9/9 for inspection. ####End of Event Log for WW2###
