The location of a site is defined by a single pair of geographical coordinates and a river kilometer value that best represents where that site is located within the region and within the network streams in the Columbia River basin. These point locations are also tied to a hydrologic unit, represented by a 4th level HUC, and a MRR site that has been defined in PTAGIS.

The values can change and the history of those changes is tracked, but only current values are displayed in the reporting system.
