BHL - Adult Fishway at BONH

Status:   Decommissioned
Site Type: Hatchery Returns  |  Organization: Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
General Operational Period: Seasonally
Start Date: 8/20/2012 2:00 PM
End Date: 12/1/2014 12:00 AM

In-stream detection system consisting of a tandem array located in Bonneville Hatchery Ladder. The array (BHL) located at river km 0.01 on Tanner Creek (N 45.632678 W -121.957909 ) consists of two arrays, deployed serially 3 m apart, of two 6 ft Biomark pass-through antennas each. BHL was initially installed on July 13, 2011 by WDFW and was re-deployed in 2012-2014 during the adult fish collection period (mid-August to early December) at Bonneville Hatchery. WDFW served as the data steward for this site during 2011-2013, and ODFW assumed responsibility in 2014. Electrical power for the site is provided by two 6v batteries which are changed out 1-2 times per week. Detection records are downloaded approximately once per week.

Operational History

Operational history describes the period the site was interrogating for PIT tags. The comments provide anecdotal information about the operation of the site during this period. Site operational periods are updated typically at the end of the calendar year.

Year Start Date End Date Comments
2014 8/18/2014 12:00 AM 12/1/2014 12:00 AM Some detections loaded as passive recaptures due to loss of timestamp. See event log for file details.
2013 No data received for 2013.
2012 8/20/2012 2:00 PM 12/5/2012 2:00 PM Some problems with battery voltage during operational period.
2011 First year of operations. Problems with data collection led to data being submitted as passive recaptures in files CAG11277.BH1 and CAG1177.BH2

Configuration

Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. A configuration sequence without an End Date is currently active.

Event Log Summary

Event Date Event Type Comments
3/5/2015 12:25:44 PM General Passive recaptures submitted to PTAGIS in 2014 for codes downloaded from the datalogger that failed to save time stamp data (see event log for 12/18/2014) were assigned approximate dates based on download dates.  Actual detection dates are presumed to be within about 1 week prior to that date.
12/18/2014 10:48:20 AM General In 2014, one of the four dataloggers for the array did not record date-time for detection records.  Therefore detection records downloaded from that datalogger were uploaded to PTAGIS as passive recaptures at BONH (recap files OSF14230.B01, OSF14254.B01, OSF14262.B01, and OSF14266.B01).  All other detection records were uploaded in an interrogation file (BHL14230.F01).

Due to this, we were unable to accurately record the date and time of interrogation for many of the tags that were observed at the BHL array. As date and time are significant requirements to the PTAGIS reporting process, we are therefore unable to upload BHL observation data for 2013. If you would like to investigate what data is available (minimum presence/absence PIT data), please feel free to contact Benjamin Warren at Benjamin.Warren@dfw.wa.gov. #### End of Event Log for BHL ###
