Goat Wall Pond (GWP), located in Mazama, Washington, will function as a juvenile salmonid acclimation pond by Yakama Nation staff between March 1 and June 15. This site is located within Cold Creek; a low-gradient spring fed tributary to the West Fork Methow River. Pre-transfer, individual seine nets within the pond location will be moved, shore outward and installed to segregate incoming hatchery pre-smolts from potential interactions with naturally produced juveniles inhabiting the same pond complex while providing migratory access. Once a net is in–place, staff members will conducted a snorkel survey and confirmed absence of fish within the contained area. In-stream, pass-through AllFlex energized antennas will be operational throughout the acclimation period.

6/15/2022 9:00:00 AM	General	Interrogation event log for the Goat Wall Acclimation Pond (GWP) - 2022 Release A new PIT tag interrogation system (Antenna 01) was installed at the acclimation net outlet. Antenna (01) began on 04-25-2022 at 0650 hrs. Antenna (01) was located at the release outlet of the acclimation net. Antenna (01) did not experience any lapse in coverage. The last download for this antenna occurred on 04-29-2022 at 1400 hrs. PIT tag interrogation system (Antenna 02) began on 03-21-2022 at 1240 hrs. Antenna (02) was located 10 meters downstream of the acclimation barrier net. Antenna (02) did not experience any lapse in coverage. The last download for this antenna occurred on 05-03-2022 at 0750 hrs. PIT tag interrogation system (Antenna 03) was located 15 meters downstream of the barrier net and began recording on 03-21-2022 at 0900 hrs. Antenna (03) was never moved but did experience minor flooding during the last week of the interrogation period allowing the potential for fish to go around the antenna. The last download for this antenna occurred on 05-03-2022 at 1200 hrs. On 05-03-2022, YN staff concluded the site was devoid of juvenile hatchery spring Chinook. All remaining equipment at Goat Wall Acclimation Pond was removed by the end of May. Antenna (01), Antenna (02), and Antenna (03) downloads were combined into one interrogation file.
7/14/2021 10:54:00 AM	General	Interrogation event log for the Goat Wall Acclimation Pond (GWP)-2021 release PIT tag interrogation system (Antenna 01) for the Goat Wall Pond began on 4-19-2021 at 1500 hrs. Antenna (01) was located at the downstream corner of the acclimation barrier net and approximately 2.5 meters from the bank. Antenna (01) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. The last download for this antenna occurred on 04-22-2021 at 1800 hrs. Antenna (02) was located 15.0 meters downstream of the barrier net and began recording on 03-23-2021 at 1500 hrs. Antenna (02) was never moved, however, did experience a lapse in coverage from 03-25-2021 at 1700 hrs to 03-28-2021 at 1000 hrs. Antenna (02) was removed from the pond on 4-19-2021 to avoid damage when the outlet experienced significant flooding. A total of 6 files were created with the last download on 04-19-2021 at 1330 hrs and incorporated into a single file. Pre-release escapees were seen prior to release as a result of a gap in the barrier net caused by otter activity. On 4-22-2021, YN staff conducted a snorkel survey within the juvenile acclimation barrier net and concluded the site devoid of juvenile hatchery spring Chinook. All remaining equipment at Goat Wall Acclimation Pond was removed by the end of April.

Antenna (01) was located at the downstream corner of the acclimation barrier net and approximately 2.5 meters from the bank. Antenna (01) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. The last download for this antenna occurred on 04-20-2020 at 1200 hrs. Antenna (02) was located 15.0 meters downstream of the barrier net and began recording on 03-19-2020 at 1000 hrs. Antenna (02) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of 8 files were created with the last download on 04-20-2020 at 1200 hrs and incorporated into a single file. Pre-release escapees were seen prior to release as a result of a gap in the barrier net. Yakama Nation staff snorkeled the pond to prevent further fish escaping throughout acclimation. On 4-22-2020, YN staff conducted a snorkel survey within the juvenile acclimation barrier net and concluded the site devoid of juvenile hatchery spring Chinook. All remaining equipment at Goat Wall Acclimation Pond was removed by the end of April.

The last download for this antenna occurred on 04-30-2019 at 1030 hrs. Antenna (02) was located 15.0 meters downstream of the barrier net and began recording on 04-02-2019 at 1200 hrs. Antenna (02) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of 5 files were created with the last download on 04-30-2019 at 1030 hrs and incorporated into a single file. Yakama Nation staff conducted a snorkel survey within the juvenile acclimation barrier net and concluded the site devoid of juvenile hatchery Spring Chinook. All antennas were removed on 04-30-2019 following a three-day period of no new PIT tag detections and a snorkel survey to confirm the pond was void of hatchery Spring chinook.

Antenna (01) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of 5 files were created with the last download on 05-02-2018 at 0930hrs and incorporated into a single file. Yakama Nation staff conducted a snorkel survey within the juvenile acclimation barrier net and concluded the site devoid of juvenile hatchery Spring Chinook. Antenna (02) was located approximately 9.0 meters downstream of the acclimation barrier net and began recording on 3-15-2018. Antenna (02) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of 19 files were created, with the last download completed on 05-02-2018 at 0930 hrs. All were incorporated into one single file. All interrogation equipment was removed on 05-02-2018 after three days of zero new unique PIT tags recorded. A single antenna (un-named and in-house data only) was placed within the barrier net at Goat Wall to determine total unique PIT tags within the pond. The antenna was turned on 03-15-2018 and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of 14 files were created, with the last download completed on 04-17-2018 at 1530 hrs. All were incorporated into one single file. A total of 4,424 unique PIT tags (matching the raw tagging file) were recorded within the pond prior to release.

Antenna (01) was located approximately 9.0 meters downstream of the acclimation barrier net. Antenna (01) was never moved and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of 14 files were created, with the last download completed on 04-26-2017 at 1055 hrs. All 14 files were incorporated into one single file. All interrogation equipment was removed on 04-26-2017 after three days of zero new unique PIT tags recorded and a snorkel survey to determine the acclimation pond void of juvenile hatchery spring Chinook. Yakama Nation staff conducted a snorkel survey starting 200 meters upstream of the juvenile acclimation barrier net and finishing at the confluence to the Methow River to confirm the pond and Cold Creek void of juvenile hatchery spring Chinook. PIT tag interrogation (Antenna 02) for the Goat Wall Pond began on 03-30-2017 at 1115 hrs. Antenna (02) was located 16.0 meters downstream of Antenna (01). Antenna (02) was never moved, and did not experience any lapse in coverage. A total of thirteen files were created, with the last download completed on 04/26/2017 at 1055 hrs. All thirteen files were incorporated into one single file. All interrogation equipment was removed on 04-26-2017 after three days of zero new unique PIT tags recorded and a snorkel survey to determine the acclimation pond void of juvenile spring Chinook.
