PD4 - Columbia River Steamboat Slgh

Status:   Active - Operations Unspecified
Site Type: Instream Remote Detection System  |  Organization: NOAA Fisheries
General Operational Period: Seasonally
Start Date:

In-river detection system consisting of up to six 8ft x 20 ft antennas in the Columbia River Estuary. The array is located near river km 54, is operated by NOAA Fisheries, and was installed on May 5, 2026, for seasonal monitoring (April - September) targeting detections of migrating juvenile salmonids. The array includes a Biomark IS1001 master controller, with an individual IS1001 reader assigned to each antenna. A solar panel array is affixed to an electronics barge to charge a battery bank of four 12v marine batteries. Remote communication will be provided via a cellular modem. All electronics are contained within two Pelican boxes affixed to a floating barge that is tethered to the downstream side of the dike. Antenna groups are based on orientation relative to the pile dike, with numbering starting with the terminal king piling of the structure.

Operational History

Operational history describes the period the site was interrogating for PIT tags. The comments provide anecdotal information about the operation of the site during this period. Site operational periods are updated typically at the end of the calendar year.

Configuration

Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. A configuration sequence without an End Date is currently active.
