PD6 - Columbia River Estuary rkm 68
Status: Active - OperationalGeneral Operational Period: Seasonally
Start Date: 4/29/2022 12:00 AM
In-river detection system consisting of seven 8ft x 20ft antennas in the Columbia River Estuary. The array is located at river km 68, is operated by NOAA Fisheries, and was installed on April 29, 2022 for continuous monitoring, targeting detections of migrating juvenile salmonids. The array includes a Biomark IS1001 master controller, with an individual IS1001 reader assigned to each antenna. A solar panel array is affixed below USCG navigation marker 57 to charge a battery bank. Remote communication will be provided via a cellular modem. All electronics are contained to a floating barge, moored downstream of the pile dike. Antenna groups are based on orientation relative to the pile dike, starting with the terminal king piling of the structure. We intend to operate this site annually from March through September.

Configuration
Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. A configuration sequence without an End Date is currently active.

3/26/2024 8:55:00 AM | SiteUp | PD6 was reinstalled in March 2024 with two separate arrays (PD6A and PD6B). Each array will have up to 8 antennas. By March 26, 8 antennas were connected (A4, 5A, 6A, 7A, 1B, 3B, 4B, and 5B). |
11/9/2023 10:00:00 AM | General |
PD6 was installed for the first time in 2022, and operated from 10 April through 3 October in 2023. In 2023, PD6 detected a total of 6,735 tagged fish, which included 3,598 spring/summer Chinook salmon, 879 fall Chinook salmon, 1,683 steelhead, 294 coho salmon, 105 sockeye salmon, 8 cutthroat trout, 9 white sturgeon, 1 green sturgeon, and 158 fish with unknown species information. We intend to reinstall and double the antennas at this site in Spring 2024. |
