PWA is a seasonal/temporary instream PIT tag interrogation site located at RKM 1.2 on Penawawa Creek, a tributary of the Snake River. The site consists of two rows with one antenna each, each row spans the entire width of the channel at both base and elevated flows. Each row consists of one 10-foot antenna, oriented in an upright or pass-through configuration. Both antennas are operated through a Destron-Fearing FS1001 MUX transceiver. Power is created at the site by Global Industries thermo electric generator. All infrastructure at this site is installed temporarily and operated from January/February until June.

Configuration

Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. Site visited to replace MUX/TEG site infrastructure with two standalone IS1001's (ACN"s) operating two 10-foot hdpe antennas, powered by a solar array.  The PWA site metadata will be updated to reflect the changes to the site infrastructure changes as soon as possible.  The purpose for replacing the MUX/TEG site infrastructure is to limit the need for site visits to change out TEG fuel tanks.

3/6/2024 11:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to replace propane tanks for the TEG and to check operations.  Operations normal, both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving the site.  Will return to replace propane tanks again on 3/20/2024.

2/23/2024 2:00:00 PM SiteUp

Site infrastructure installed on 23 February 2024 initiating the annual operating period for PWA.  Both antennas tested and tuned prior to leaving the site.  Next return visit will be 6 March 2024 to replace propane tanks and assess site operations.

6/2/2023 11:00:00 AM SiteDown

Site operations for 2023 came to an end on 6/2/2023 after the TEG had run out of fuel and batteries powering the MUX were completely discharged.  The site was visited on 6/9/2023 to uninstall and remove all components.

5/24/2023 1:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to assess operations, replace TEG fuel tanks and to download MUX buffer.  Site operating normally upon arrival.  Both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving the site.

5/17/2023 11:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to assess operations, replace TEG fuel tanks and to download MUX buffer.  Site operating normally upon arrival.  Both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving the site.

5/9/2023 10:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to assess operations, replace TEG fuel tanks and to download MUX buffer.  Site operating normally upon arrival.  Both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving the site.

4/28/2023 10:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to check operations replace TEG propane tanks.  Upon last visit (4/19/2023) TEG had run out of fuel and batteries completely discharged.  The site was down temporarily from 4/18/2023 through late 4/19/2023 due to the fuel outage.  Site operating normally upon arrival during this visit.  Fuel tanks replaced, data collected from MUX buffer, antennas tested and tuned prior to leaving site.

4/19/2023 12:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to exchange propane tanks for the TEG, download MUX buffer and to assess site operations.  Fuel tanks empty and TEG not operating upon arrival at the site.  Batteries completely discharged and MUX not operating.  Propane tanks were exchanged and TEG was restarted.  Site will be revisited asap to check on operations.

4/5/2023 12:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to exchange propane tanks for the TEG, download MUX buffer and to assess site operations.  Site operating normally, both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site.

3/22/2023 12:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to exchange propane tanks for the TEG, download MUX buffer and to assess site operations.  Site operating normally, both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site.

3/8/2023 12:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to exchange propane tanks for TEG, download MUX buffer and to assess site operations.  Site operating normally, both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site.

3/3/2023 1:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to check operational status and confirm that the TEG was still operating normally.  Antenna 02 (downstream) had a low exciter voltage alarm and very low read range so it was replaced with another 10' antenna with better read range.  Both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site, operations normal.

3/2/2023 12:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to check on site operations.  TEG was not running upon arrival at the site.  TEG was restarted and operating normally upon leaving the site.

2/27/2023 2:00:00 PM SiteUp

Site infrastructure installed on 2/27/2023 and spring operations initiated.  Both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site, operations normal.

6/14/2022 8:50:00 AM General

Returned to site to remove the TEG, TEG enclosure and job box from the site.  All components now removed from the site and will be reinstalled in early 2023 to resume array operations.

6/8/2022 8:40:00 AM SiteDown

Site visited to terminate operations for the year and to uninstall components from the site.  The MUX was powered on and had operated until 6/4/2022 at 11am PST before voltage fell below the threshold and it shut down, effectively ending the operational period for PWA during 2022.  Both antennas were uninstalled, removed from the stream channel and brought back to Clarkston.  Will return as time allows to remove the TEG, TEG enclosure and job box/electronics box from the site.

5/18/2022 10:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to change out propane tanks and check on operations.  TEG not operating (out of fuel) upon arrival at the site.  The battery bank voltage had fallen below 24v and MUX was also powered off upon arrival at site.  Propane tanks were replaced and the TEG restarted without issue.  Once the TEG was outputting enough power to turn the MUX back on, it was determined that MUX had operated until approximately 8am that morning of 5/18 and had only been down for two hours.  Both antennas tested and operating normally prior to leaving the site.

5/9/2022 10:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to replace TEG propane tanks, download MUX buffer memory and to assess site operations.  Site operating normally upon arrival.  Both antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site.

5/4/2022 10:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to replace propane tanks for TEG.  TEG was not operating (out of fuel) upon arrival at the site, however the batteries were still outputting 24.7v and the MUX was powered on with both antennas operating normally.  The propane tanks were replaced and the TEG restarted without issue.  Both antennas tested and operating normally prior to leaving the site.
