SA1 - Salmon Creek Instream Array

Status:   Active - Operational
Site Type: Instream Remote Detection System  |  Organization: Colville Confederated Tribes
General Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 2/8/2011 12:00 AM

Salmon Creek enters the Okanogan River at RKM 41.3, in the city of Okanogan, WA. The site was originally located 2.9 km upstream from the confluence with the Okanogan River, and originally consisted of 3 pass-over 7 foot PVC antennas powered by a FS1001M transceiver. Two of the antennas were damaged in spring/summer 2016 and subsequently removed. In February 2017, a second antenna was again added at the site. In January 2018, the site was moved approximately 1 km downstream and reinstalled with 4 new 20 ft HPDE antennas with an IS1001 master controller. Power is provided by Thermal Electric Generator (TEG).

Configuration

Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. A configuration sequence without an End Date is currently active.

Event Date Event Type Comments
6/6/2022 8:12:00 AM SiteUp

Reset GFCI. Site has power again and system is functional.

6/2/2022 7:06:00 PM SiteDown

Storm had tripped GFCI on outlet, shutting down power to the site.

3/1/2022 10:53:00 AM SiteUp

GFCI switch reset. Site operating again.

2/28/2022 10:30:00 AM SiteDown

GFCI switch had reset at power pole, shutting site down.

6/1/2020 9:00:00 AM SiteUp Reset GFCI. Site up and running.
5/31/2020 6:00:00 AM SiteDown Power surge caused GFCI to trip. Site shut down.
10/29/2019 11:00:00 AM General Updated firmware on all equipment. Site had periods of intermittent data loss from 10/7 to 10/29/19.
10/7/2019 11:00:00 AM SiteUp Replaced MC and main CANBUS cable. Site back in operation and collecting data.
9/18/2019 11:00:00 AM SiteDown MC stopped working due to rodent chewing on main CANBUS cable.
4/16/2019 12:00:00 PM SiteUp Replaced MTS, site operating well.
4/12/2019 1:00:00 AM SiteDown Issue with MTS not powering on.
5/9/2018 11:00:00 PM General Readers for antennas 03, and 04 are no longer in communication with the MTS. As a result noise levels on antennas 01, and 02 are higher then normal. Expect lower detection efficiency from readers 01, and 02 till all 4 of the readers and antennas are back in communication with the MTS.
1/15/2018 7:42:00 AM General Installed Campbell Scientific CR1000, and PS100 to log interrogation and environmental data. A RavenX cellular modem was also installed to provide remote communication.
1/11/2018 7:42:00 AM SiteUp Installed four 20 foot HDPE antennas anchored to the stream bed for pass-over detection. Each antenna is power by a IS1001 reader housed in a canister connected to each antenna. All readers are multiplexed through a single canbus cable connected to a newly installed IS1001-MC.
6/28/2017 10:23:46 AM SiteDown Per Brian Miller, the antennas were blown out during the high flows and the site has been shut down until further notice.
12/7/2016 11:15:00 AM General Swap out low voltage batteries. Reduce air/gas PSI to 7.5.
12/6/2016 9:00:00 AM General Low voltage ~20v on TEG. Increased PSI from 7.8 to 8.5. Battery 11.3v and 8.4v. Need changed.

8/30/2016 3:30:00 PM SiteUp Reconnect OMK (Lower Omak Creek) MUX using MUX port 4 for antenna 2. All other antennas (1 and 3) were destroyed. Retuned to 4.4 amps, 60% noise.
8/30/2016 1:30:00 PM SiteDown Remove MUX from site and take to OMK (Lower Omak Creek).
8/30/2016 1:30:00 PM General Remove MUX from site and move to Omak Creek (OMK) to replace limited functioning MUX.
7/26/2016 1:30:00 PM General Remove antenna1 and antenna3. Both antennas not functioning. Antenna1 no current, frayed pigtail. Antenna3 no current, cracked. Antenna1 went down ~6/9/16 16:00. Antenna3 went down ~4/18/16 14:00.
